Desktop Board Features 21 LAN Wake Capabilities The board’s LAN wake capabilities enable remote wake- up of the computer thro ugh a network. The LAN subsystem network adapte r moni tors network traffic at the Media Independent Interface.

When installed in the chassis, the shield blocks radio frequency t ransmissions, protects internal components from dust and foreign objects, and promotes corre ct airflow within the chassis.

Intel Desktop Board D525MW Product Guide 28 Installing and Removing Memory NOTE To be fully compliant with all applicable Intel SDRAM memory specifi cations, the boards require DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. The Desktop Board has two 204-pin DDR3 SO-D IMM sockets that support up to 4 GB of system memory.

47 3 Updating the BIOS The BIOS Setup program can be used to vi ew and change the BIOS settings for the computer. You can ac cess the BIOS Setup program by pressing the <F2> key a fter the Power-On Self-Test ( POST) memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins.

Obtaining the BIOS Update File You can update to a new version of the BIOS by using the Iflash BIOS update file.
Updating the BIOS 49 Recovering the BIOS It is unlikely that anything will interrupt a BIOS updat e; however, if an interru ption occurs, the BIOS could be damaged. Table 14 lists the drives and media types that can and cannot be used for BIOS recovery.

51 A Board Status and Error Messages This appendix describes status and error messages generated by the Desktop Board’s BIOS. The BIOS indicates these error me ssages with front-panel Power LED blink codes, speaker beep codes, and by di splaying text on the video monitor.
