5 Intr oduction Y our new digital pr ojector is easy to connect, easy to use, easy to maintain and has XGA 10 24x7 68 resol ution . The pr ojector comes in a carry case that offe rs ample room for InFocus accessory items such as the projec tor remote, color-c oded cables, docu men- tation a nd CD.

7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connection s Connect the black end of the computer cable to t he Computer 1 connector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to dis connect the monitor cable fr om t he computer ’ s video port .
8 If you pr efer connecting your computer t o the projector wi th an optional VESA cable, conn ec t one end of the cable to the VESA port on your com- puter , an d conn ect the ot her end of the cabl e to the bl ue Computer 2 co n- nector on the pr ojector .
9 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r button on the to p of the projecto r or the remote. The LED fla shes green and the fans sta rt to run. Whe n the lamp comes on, the sta rtup screen is displayed an d the LED is s teady green.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W i ndows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes the pr ojector as “ new h a rdw a re ” and th e Add Ne w H a rd wa re Wiza rd ap p e a rs .

12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of the pr ojector , if n ecessary , by pr essing the r elease but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate the leveling foot, if necessary . Position the projector the desir ed distance fr om the scree n at a 90 degree angle to the screen.

14 Displa ying a video ima g e Remove the lens cap. Press t he Po w e r button on the to p of the pro jector . The LED flash es green and the fans start to r un. When the la mp comes on, the star tup screen is displayed a nd the LED is steady gr een. It can take a minute for th e image to achieve full brightness .
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotating them until the desir ed image size and sharpness ar e produced. If the image is not squar e, adjust the key stone using the butt ons on the key- pad. Pr ess the upper Ke y s t o n e b utton t o reduce the upper part o f the image, and pr ess the lower Ke y s t o n e b utto n to reduce th e low er part.
16 Shutting do wn the pr ojec tor The projector automa tical ly displ ays a bl ack screen a fter no active so urce is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blac k screen hel ps preserve t he life of the pr o- jector . The imag e returns wh en an active sour ce is detected or a remote or keypad b utton is pr essed.

24 Using the k eypad buttons Most bu ttons ar e described in detail in other sections, bu t here is an over- view of the ir function s: pow e r – turns the projector on (page 9) a nd off (page 14). menu – opens t he on-screen menus (page 29). select – confi rms choices made in th e menus (page 29).
25 Using the remote contr o l The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batt eries. They ar e easily install ed by slidi ng the cove r off the remote ’ s ba ck, aligni ng the + an d - ends of the batteries , sliding them into place, and then repl acing the cover .
26 Using the audio T o play sound from the project or , con nec t your source to the Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, us e the buttons on the k eypad or remote.
27 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’ s image is on the scre en, you can optimize t he image using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 29 . • Adjust the Ke ysto ne, C ontra st, or Br ight nes s in the Pict ure menu.

For general informa- tion on using the menus, s ee page 29. • Adjust the Keystone , Contrast, B rightness, Co lor , or T int in the P icture menu.
29 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the menu b utton o n the key pad or r emote. (The menus a utomatically close a fter 60 second s if no button s are pre ssed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired submenu, then pr ess the Select button .
30 Picture menu T o adjust th e following five settings, high light the sett ing, press Selec t , use the up an d down arro ws to adjust the values, then pr ess select t o confirm the c hange s. Ke y s t o n e : adj usts the imag e vert ic ally an d mak es a square r imag e.
31 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentation s, photographs, fil m images, an d video images. (Film input is material or iginally captur ed on a fil m camera, l ike a movie; v ideo input is material or iginally captur ed on a v ideo camera, l ike a TV sho w or sporting event.
32 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) changes t he clarity of the edge s of a video image. Select a sha rpness settin g. Color S pace : This option appl ies to compute r and component v ideo sour ces (it won ’ t appear in the menu f or S-video or c omposite vi deo sour ces).

35 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet connector that support s net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corporate networ k. The following fields are accessible when DHCP is not check ed and available for manual entry of data.
36 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abra sive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dr y cloth. A void using an excessive amo u nt of cl eaner , and don ’ t apply the cleaner directly to the lens. A brasive clea ners, solvents or other har sh chemic als might sc ra tch the lens.
37 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has b een in use. Af ter 1,980 hours, the message “ Change lamp ” briefly appe ars on the scree n at each startup. When th e timer r eaches 2,000 hours, the lamp will no long er light.

39 Using the security lo ck The pr ojector ha s a security lock for use with a PC Guardia n Cable Lock System. See “ Accessories ” on page 40 for or dering in formation. Ref er to the infor mation that ca me with the lock for in struc tions o n how to us e it.
