6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector provid es three c omputer and t hree v ideo connector s: • one M1-D (HD, DV I, and computer) • two VESA (HD, HD component, and computer) •o n e c o m p o n e n.
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect one end of the computer cable to the Compu ter 2 connect or on the proj ector . Connect the other end to the video port on your c omputer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the monitor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
8 If you are u sing a desktop computer a nd want to s ee the image on your computer screen as well a s on the pr ojection scr een, plug the monitor cable to the Monitor out conn ector on the pr ojector .
9 Displa yi ng a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch to position “1” on the back of the projector , th en press the Po w e r button on the to p of the proj ector or the r emote. The LED fla shes gr een and the fans s tart to r un.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t he pr ojector as “new hardw are” a nd the Add Ne w H a rdw a re Wiz ard ap pe a rs .

12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the heigh t of the pr ojector , if nece ssary , by pres sing the r elease but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate th e level ing foot (located at the bot tom back r ight co rner) , if neces - sary . Position the projector the d esired distance from the screen at a 90 degr ee angle to the scre en.
13 Connecting a video de vice Standard v ideo co nnecti ons Plug the audio/ video (A/V) cable’s yellow connector into the video-out connector on the v ideo devic e. Plug t he other y ellow connector in to the yel- low Video 2 connect or on the project or .
14 Displa ying a video ima ge Remove the lens cap. Press t he power switch to position “1” on the back of the proj ector , then press the Po w e r button on the t op of the pr oj ector . The LED flash es gre en and the fa ns start t o run. Wh en the lamp comes on , the star tup scr een is display ed and th e LED is steady gr een.
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotatin g them until the desir ed image size and fo cus are produce d. If the image is not square, a djust the v ertical key stone using the buttons on the keypad.
16 Shutting do wn the projector The projector automati cally blan ks the sc reen after n o active s ource is detected for 3 0 minutes. Th is blank scr een helps preser ve the life of the pro - jector . The image r eturns when an active source is detected or a remot e or keypad b utton is press ed.

25 Using the remote contr ol The r emote uses tw o (2) pr ovided AAA b atteries. Th ey ar e easily in stalled by slidi ng the cover of f the remot e’s back, ali gning the + an d - ends of the batteries , sliding them int o place, a nd then replacing t he cover .
26 Using the audio T o play so und from the project or , connec t your so urce to the Audio In c on- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, use t he buttons on the keypad or re mote. T o adjust the bass, tr eble, balance, or loudn ess, use the Audio menu (see page 33).
27 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For gen - eral info rmation on using the menu s, see page 29. • Adjus t the Ke ysto ne, Co ntras t, or Brig htnes s in the Pictu re menu.
28 Optimizi ng video im ag es After the video device is connect ed pr operly an d the im age is o n the sc reen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the men us, see page 2 9. • Adj ust th e Keystone , Contrast, Brig htness, C olor , or T int in the Pictur e menu.
29 Using the menus T o o pen the menus, pr ess the m enu bu tton on th e keyp ad or remote. (The menus a utomatically c lose aft er 60 sec onds if no b utton s are pressed. ) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desir ed sub menu, then press the Sel ect butto n.

31 Presets : The pr ovided Preset s optimize the pr ojector for dis playing com- puter pr esentations, photo graphs, film imag es, an d video imag es. (Film input is materia l originally captu red o n a film camera, l ike a movie; video input is materi al origin ally ca ptur ed on a v ideo camera , like a TV sho w or sporting event.
32 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) cha nges the clarity of the edges of a video image. Select a s harpness settin g. Color S pace : This opt ion applies t o compute r and c omponent vide o sour ces. It al lows yo u to sel ect a color s pace that h a s bee n spec ifically tuned for the video in put.
33 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustments to the v olume, b ass, tr eble and bala nce. Als o allows you t o turn on a nd off Lou dness (whic h boosts the hi gher and lower frequen cies), the Int ernal spea kers, and projector s t artup Chime.
34 Screen Sav e : automatica lly blanks the screen aft er no signals are det ected for five mi nutes. The image retu rns when an activ e sour ce is de tected or a rem ote or key pad button is pr essed. Scree n Save is disabled when Power Save i s ena bled.
35 Effect K ey : allow s you to ass ign a dif ferent f unct ion to t he Effect button on the re m ote to quickly a nd easily use the ef fect. Only one effect can be enabled at a t ime. Hig hlight a n effec t and pr ess Sel ect to choose a dif ferent one.
36 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet conn ector that su pports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corpora te network. The follow i ng fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked and available for ma nual entry of data.
37 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non- abrasiv e camer a lens c leaner to a soft, dry clo t h. A void usi ng an excessive a m ount of c leaner , and do n’t apply the cleaner direc tly to the lens. Abrasiv e cleaner s, solvent s or othe r harsh chemic als m ight sc ratch th e len s.
38 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp h as been in use. When t he specified end of the lamp’s life is r eached, the message “ Replace lamp” bri efly appears on the scr een at each startup and in the Intera ctive Displa y .
