9 OPERA TION The operation of any tractor can result in f oreign objects thrown into the e yes, which can result in severe e ye dam age . Alwa ys wear safety glass es or eye shields while operating y our tractor or perform ing any adjustments or repairs.
10 OPERA TION FIG. 8 FIG. 7 REVERSE OPERA TION SYSTEM (R OS) Y our tractor is equipped with a Re verse Oper ation System (ROS). Any attempt b y the operator to tra vel in the re verse direction with the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine unless ignition ke y is placed in the ROS "ON" position.
11 OPERA TION T O TRANSPOR T • Raise attachment lift to highest position with at tach ment lift control. • When pushing or towing y our tractor , be sure gearshift le ver is in neutral (N) position. • Do not push or tow tractor at more than fi v e (5) MPH.
12 MO WING TIPS • Mower should be properly le veled f or best mowing per- fo r mance. See "T O LEVEL MOWER HOUSING" in the Ser vice and Adjustments section of this manual. • The left hand side of mower should be used f or trim- ming. • Drive so that clippings are discharged onto the area that has been cut.

15 MAINTENANCE V -BEL TS Check V -belts f or deter ioration and wear after 100 hours and replace if necessar y . The belts are not adjustable. Re place belts if they begin to slip from w ear . TRANSAXLE COOLING K eep transaxle free from build-up of dirt and chaff which can restrict cooling.

19 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS NO TE: Each full tur n of the adjustment nut will change mower height about 1/8". • Recheck measurements, adjust if necessary until front tip of blade is 1/8" to 1/2" lo wer than the rear tip . • Hold adjustment n ut in position with wrench and tighten jam nut securely against adjustment nut.
20 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS T O REMO VE WHEEL FOR REP AIRS (See Fig. 28) • Block up axle securely . • Remove axle co ver , retaining r ing and washers to allo w wheel remov al (rear wheel contains a square ke y - Do not lose). • Repair tire and reassemble.
21 03037 T O REPLA CE HEADLIGHT BULB • Raise hood. • Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the grill. • Replace bulb in holder and push b ulb holder securely back into the hole in the bac kside of the grill.
22 ST ORA GE Immediately prepare your tr actor for storage at the end of the season or if the tractor will not be used f or 30 days or more. W ARNING: Never store the trac tor with gasoline in the tank inside a building where fumes may reac h an open fl ame or spark.
23 TR OUBLESHOO TING POINTS Will not start 1. Out of fuel. 1. Fill fuel tank. 2. Engine not “CHOKED” properly . 2. See “TO ST ART ENGINE” in Operation section. 3. Engine fl ooded. 3. W ait sever al minutes before attempting to start. 4. Bad spark plug.
