Th is machine is built for the greatest ef ficiency and rapid mowing primarily of large ar eas. Controls in one pl ace and a hydrost atic transmission regulated by steering controls also contribute to the mach ine’ s performance.

English- 8 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Disengage blades wh en not mowing. Shut off engine and wait for all part s to come to a complete stop before cleaning the machine , removing th e grass catcher , or unclog ging the discharge guard. • Operate machine only in daylight or good artificial light.
English- 9 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Personal Safety Equipment • Make sure that you have first aid equipment close at hand when using the machine. • Never use the machine when ba refoot. Always wear protective shoes or boots, preferably with steel toecaps.

English- 16 CONTROLS Controls This operator ’s ma nual describes the Husqvarna Zero T urn Rid er . The rider is fitted with either a Briggs & S tratton, Kawasaki, or Honda engine. T ransmission from the engine is made via two belt-driven hydraulic tra nsaxles, one for each drive wheel.
English- 17 CONTROLS 1. Parking Brake The parking brake is found on the lef t of the machine. Pull the lever backward to activate the brake and forward to release it. 2. Motion Control Levers The machine’ s speed and directio n are continuously variable using the two steering controls.
English- 18 CONTROLS positions when standing still or do not fit in the slots for movin g the controls outward, they can be adjusted. T racking If the mower is not tracking straight, check the air pressure in both rear tires. Recommended air pressure is 15 p si.
English- 19 CONTROLS 5. Refueling Read the safety instructio ns before refueling. The machine has one fuel t ank, just behind the seat. The tank volume is 5.4 gallons (20.4 liters). Make sure the fuel ca p is proper ly tightened and the cap gaske t is not damaged.
English- 20 CONTROLS 6. By p ass linkage When pushing or pulling the mower , be sure to engage the IZT (Integ rated Zeroturn T ransaxle) bypass linkages. The IZT byp ass linkages are located on the rear of the frame, below the rear engin e guard. • Raise the deck into the highest cutting position.
English- 21 CONTROLS 8. Hour Meter The hour meter displays the total operating time. It will flash CHG OIL (Change Oil) at 50 hour intervals. The flash dura tion is one hour before and one hour af ter the interval. The CHG OIL icon will come on and shut off automatically .
English- 22 CONTROLS 1 1. Throttle Control The throttle control regu lates the engine speed and thereby the ra te of rotation of the blades, assuming the blade switch is pulled out, see Engagi ng the Mower Deck. In order to increase or decrease the engine speed, the control is moved forward or backward respectively .
English- 23 CONTROLS 13. Cutting height pedal The cutting deck height is obtained by pressing the foot pedal l ift arm forward and releasing the transport latch. Then lower the deck to the preset heigh t. T o raise the deck push forward on the foot pedal lif t arm until the transport latch locks.
English- 24 OPERATION Operation Read "Safety Instructions", the "Controls" section and following pages, if you are unfamiliar with the machine. Conduct all daily maintenance on the machine before starting. T raining Zero turn mowers are far more manueverable than typical riding mowers due to their unique steering capabilities.
English- 25 OPERATION Before S t arting • Read the sections Safety Instructions and Contro ls before starting the machine. • Perform the da ily maintenance before starting (see Maintenance Schedule in the Mainte nance section). • Check that there is sufficient fuel in the fuel tank.
English- 26 OPERATION 4. Disengage the mowe r blades by depressing the blade switch. 5. Move the steering controls outward to the locked (outer) neutral position.
English- 27 OPERATION 7. If the engine is co ld, the choke control should be pulled out to its extents. 8. Open the fuel shut of f valve. 9. Press in and turn the ignition key to the start position.
English- 28 OPERATION 10. When the engine start s, immediately release the ignition key back to the run position. 1 1 . Press the choke co ntrol in gradually when the engine has started.
English- 29 OPERATION T o st art an engine with a weak battery If your battery is too weak to start the engine, it should be recharge d. (See “Battery” on page 37).
English- 30 OPERATION Running 1. Release the p arking brake by moving the lever forw ard. Y our mower is equipped with an operator presence system. When the engine is running, any at tempt by the oper ator to leave the seat without first setting the parking brake will shut of f the engine.

English- 32 OPERATION Mowing Tip s • Observe and flag rocks and other fixed objects to avoid collisions. • Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until the desired mowing result is attained. The average lawn should be cut to 2 1/2" (64 mm) during the cool season and over 3" (76 mm) durin g the hot months.
English- 33 OPERATION Stopping the Engine Allow the engine to idle a minute in order to attain normal o perating temper ature before stopping it, if it has been worked hard. Avoid idling the engine for lon ger periods, as there is a risk of the spark plugs fouling.

English- 35 MAINTENANCE Maintenance Maintenance Schedule The following is a list of maintenance pro cedures that must be performed on the ma chine. For those points not described in this manual, visit an authorized service workshop.
English- 36 MAINTENANCE 1) First change after 5-8 hours. When operating with a heavy load or at high ambient temperatures, replace every 50 hours. 2) In dusty conditions, cleaning and replacement are requir ed more often. 3) For daily use, th e machine should be lubricated twice weekl y .
English- 37 MAINTENANCE Battery Y our mower is equipp ed with a maintenance free battery and do es not need servicing. However , periodic charging of the battery with an automotive type batte ry charger will extend its life. • Keep battery and terminals clean.
English- 38 MAINTENANCE 9. Connect BLACK ground ing cable to negative (-) battery terminal with remaining hex bolt an d hex nut. 10. T ight en securely . 1 1 . Close termi nal access doors. 12. Lower seat. Ignition System The engine is equipped with an el ectronic ignition system.
English- 39 MAINTENANCE Checking the Safety System The machine is equipped with a safety system that pr events starting or driving u nder the following conditions. The engine can only be started when: 1. The mower de ck is disengaged. 2. The steering contr ols are in the outer , locked neutral position.
English- 40 MAINTENANCE Checking the Engine's Cooling Air Int ake Check that the engine’s cooli ng air intake is free from leaves, grass, and dirt. If the cooling air int ake is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lead to engine damage.
English- 41 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Air Filter Kawasaki Engine St andard air fi lter 1. Remove the plastic faste ner on the top of the air filter cowling and remove the air filter cowling. 2. Remove the foam ru bber pre-filter and clean using a mild detergent.
English- 42 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Air Filter - Briggs & St ratton Engine St andard air fi lter If the engine seems wea k or runs unevenly , the air filter may be clogged. If run with a dirty air filter , the sp ark plugs can become fouled disrupting ope ration.
English- 43 MAINTENANCE Replacing Heavy Duty Air Filter If the engine seems wea k or runs unevenly and the dust load in dicator has turned r ed the air filter may be clogge d.
English- 44 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Fuel Filter Replace the line-moun ted fuel filter every 100 hours (once per season) or more regularly if it is clogged. Replace the filter as follows: 1. Move the hose clamp s away from the filter . Use flat-nosed pliers.
English- 45 MAINTENANCE Checking the Parking Brake Visuall y check that no damage is found on the lever , links, or s witch belonging to the parking brake. Perform a st and-still test and check that there is suf ficent braking action. T o adjust the parking brake, cont act the Husqvarna service workshop.
English- 46 MAINTENANCE Deck belt inst allation NOTE: For ease in installing the deck belt, refer to the routing decal on the front edge of the deck. • Wrap the deck be lt around the electric clutch that is located on the engine shaft. • Push the rest of the belt through the IZT(Integraded Zeroturn T ransaxle) support and up ont o the deck.
English- 47 MAINTENANCE IZT belt T o replace IZT (Integraded Zeroturn T ransaxle) belt Park the mower on a level surface. Engage the park brake. IZT belt removal NOTE: Be careful not to damage the fan blades on the IZT a s this can af fect cooling or damage the IZT • Remove the deck belt (see to replace deck belt in this section of the manual).
English- 48 MAINTENANCE Checking the Blades In order to attain the best mowing effect, it is important that the blades are well sharpened and not damage d. Bent or cracked blades or blades with large nicks should be replaced. Damaged blade s should be replaced when hitting obstacles that result in a breakdown.
English- 49 MAINTENANCE Blade replacement : • Remove blade bolt by turning counterclockwise. • Install new or re-sharpened blade with stamped "GRASS SIDE" facing towards ground/grass (down) or “THIS SIDE UP” facing deck and cutte r housing.
English- 50 MAINTENANCE Adjusting the Mower Deck Check the tire pressure before adjustment of the mover deck, refer to page 44. Faulty mower deck adjustment will cause uneven mowing result. Leveling 1. Position the mowe r on a level, preferably concrete, su rface.
English- 51 MAINTENANCE T o adjust anti-scalp rollers Anti-scalp rollers are properly adjusted when they are just slightly off of the ground when the deck is at the desir ed cutting height in the operating position. Anti-scalp rollers then keep the deck in the pr oper position to help prevent scalping in most terrain conditions.
English- 52 MAINTENANCE Cleaning and W ashing Regular cleaning an d washing, especially under the mower deck, will increase the machine’s lifesp an. Make it a habit to clean the machine directly after use (after it is cooled), before the dirt sticks.
English- 53 MAINTENANCE Parking brake T o adjust p arking brake Jack up unit and supp ort properly with jack stands. Allow clearance to work at rear transaxles. Before making any adjustments: Set park brake. Measure the distance between the rod swivel pin and the brake a rm washer .
English- 54 LUBRICATION Lubrication Lubrication Schedule General Remove the ignition key to prevent unintentional movements during lubrication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be filled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise stated, use a high grade molybdenum disulfide grease.
English- 55 LUBRICATION Lubricating the Cables If possible, grease both ends of the cables and move the controls to end stop positions when lubricating. Refit the rubber covers on the cables af ter lubrication. Ca bles with sheaths will bind if they are not lubricated regularly .
English- 56 LUBRICATION 4. Deck outer spindle Lubricate using a grease gun, one ze rk, each side 2-3 strokes . Use only good quality bearing grease. 5. Engine Oil Changing the Engine Oil The engine oil sh ould be changed for the first time afte r 5-8 hours of operation.
English- 57 LUBRICATION Checking the Oil Level Check the oil level in the engine when the machine is standing level and the engine is stopped. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and then replace it . The dipstick should be screwed into place. T ake the dipstick out again and read the oil level.
English- 58 LUBRICATION 6. Changing the Engine Oil Filter 1. Drain the engine oil in accordance with the work description un der the heading Engine Oil/Change Engine Oil . 2. Remove the oil filter . If necessary , use a filter remover . 3. Wipe new , clean engin e oil onto the seal for the new filter .
English- 59 LUBRICATION 7. Drain old oil filters of all free flowing oil prior to disposal. Place used oil in appropriat e containers and dispose o f it in accordance with laws in your area. 8. Remove the top port plug (see illustration) from the left side and right side of the transaxles prior to filling with oil.
English- 60 LUBRICATION Purging Procedure s Due to the effects air has on ef ficiency in hydrostatic drive applications, it is critical that it is purged from the system. These purge procedu res should be implemented any time a hydrostatic system has been opened to facilit ate maintenance or any additional oil has been added to the system.

F uel allowed to stand for long periods of time (30 days or more) can leave sticky residues that can plug the carburetor and disru pt engine function.
