GB - 7 DO NO T pull mower bac kwards unless absolutely necessary . Look down and bac k before and while mo ving backw ards. DO NO T star t the engine or operate mow er unless either the Side Discharge Opening Cov er or the Side Discharge De fl ector is installed.
GB - 8 DO NO T make cutting height wheel adjustments while the engine is running. On self-propelled models, releasing wheel drive control must stop mo wer ’ s forward mov ement. If this feature f ails to operate, disconnect spark plug wire and repair before using unit.
GB - 9 T O REMO VE UNIT FROM CAR T ON 1. Cut off top of car ton. 2. Remov e front and rear inser ts and literature pack. 3. Cut out back of carton and roll unit out. 4. Remov e protective pac kaging materials. ASSEMBL Y 1. Unfold and adjust handlebar .
GB - 10 CONTROLS AND F EATURES See Figures 1 and 6 for Controls and Features . Engine/Blade Control The Engine Control must be held against the handlebar in order to star t the engine as well as during mowing operations to keep the engine running. Releasing the control during operation stops the engine and blade .
GB - 11 OPTIONAL CONTROLS See Figures 1 and 6. Cutting Height – Swivel Models T o change front wheel cutting height, inser t clevis pin into the holes that correspond to the desired cutting height. (Figure 6). T o change rear wheel cutting height, mov e cutting height lev ers one notch at a time until the desired cutting height is obtained.
GB - 12 FILLING FUEL T ANK T o add fuel to Fuel T ank: 1. Put unit in open or well-v entilated area. 2. Stop engine and allow to cool. 3. Clean Fuel Cap and surrounding area to prev ent dust, dir t and debr is from entering Fuel T ank. 4. Remov e Cap .
GB - 13 STARTING AND SHUT OFF See Figures 1, 4 and 6 for all Controls and Features . NO TE: Star t engine on a hard lev el surface that is free of debris. Manual Start 1. Check each item in Bef ore Each Use in the Maintenance Schedule. 2. For engines with a primer , push pr imer bulb 2 or 3 times f or a cold engine.
GB - 14 Husqv arna Dealers will provide any service, par ts or adjustments which may be required to keep y our unit operating at peak ef fi ciency . Should engine service be required, contact a Husqv arna dealer or an author ized engine manuf acturer's service center.
GB - 15 1. Loosen wing bolt and lift cov er . Remov e pre-cleaner and car tridge assembly . 2. W ash pre-cleaner in liquid detergent and water . Allow to dry thoroughly . Saturate pre-cleaner in oil (SAE #30). Squeeze to remov e excess oil. Do not wring.
GB - 16 CHECK DRIVE BELT Check drive belt f or wear or damage. Replace belt if worn or damaged. See Ser vice and Adjustments . CHECK ENGINE/BLADE CONTROL The engine/blade control must stop the engine and blade within 3 seconds after the bail is released.
GB - 17 CHECK ENGINE COOLING Engine is air cooled. Air must circulate freely around engine from Air Intake to cooling fins on cylinder head and bloc k to prev ent ov erheating. Every 100 hours of operation or yearly (more often if conditions require) remov e cooling shrouds and clean cooling fins.
GB - 18 SERVICE P OSITION Place unit on a fl at lev el surface. AL W A YS stop engine. Assure unit is secure and will not tip ov er . Strap and clamp onto bench if needed. A handlebar service position is provided for tipping the unit for cleaning and service (Figure 14).
GB - 19 3. Charge for 24 to 48 hours (battery may be charged for up to 72 hours with no harmful effects). An engine run time of at least 8 hours is required to charge a fully discharged battery . T o Remove Battery from Unit 1. Remov e wing nuts from battery U-bolt.
GB - 20 DRIVE BELT (Self propelled units) T o remov e drive belt: 1. P osition right hand rear wheel Height Adjustment lev er in fi rst notch and left hand rear wheel Height Adjustment lev er in third notch. This provides clearance between friction wheel and drive disk.
GB - 21 IMPORT ANT: NEVER spra y unit with water or store unit outdoors. W ater can seep into sealed bearings, which are sealed against dir t and debris only , causing reduced component life . Store mower in a cool, dry , protected location. Cleaning Clean unit thoroughly .
