GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 7 GLO VES Glov es should be wor n when necessary , e.g., when fitting cutting attachments. BOO TS Wear boots with steel toe-caps and non-slip sole . CLO THING Wear clothes made of a strong f abric and avoid loose clothing that can catch on twigs and branches.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English be chec ked. See instructions under the heading Maintenance. Stop s witch Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine . Star t the engine and mak e sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 Quick release There is an easily accessible, quic k release fitted at the front as a safety precaution in case the engine catches fire, or in any other situation that requires y ou to free yourself from the machine and harness.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Locking n ut A locking nut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment. When fitting, tighten the nut in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the cutting attachment. T o remo ve it, undo the nut in the same direction as the cutting attachment rotates.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 General rules Only use cutting attachments with the guards we recommend! See the chapter on T echnical data. K eep the teeth of the blade correctly shar pened! F ollow our instructions and use the recommended file gauge.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English round file. The top edges must be filed down by the same amount for all the teeth. • Adjust the blade setting. This should be 1 mm. T rimmer head • Only use the recommended trimmer heads and trimmer cords.
ASSEMBL Y English – 13 Assembling the handlebar and throttle • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
ASSEMBL Y 14 – English The guard extension is remo ved easily using the spark plug spanner , see illustration. Fitting a blade guar d, grass b lade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt.
ASSEMBL Y English – 15 • Inser t the loc king pin (C) in the hole to lock the shaft. • Place the blade (D) and support flange (F) on the output shaft. • Fit the nut (G). The nut must be tightened to a torque of 35-50 Nm (3.5-5 kpm). Use the socket spanner in the tool kit.
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Adjusting the harness and brush cutter Standard harness Quick release At the front is an easily accessible, quic k release. Use this if the engine catches fire or in any other emergency situation that requires you to free y ourself from the machine and harness.
ASSEMBL Y English – 17 2 Tighten the chest strap under your left arm so that it fits closely around your body . 3 Adjust the shoulder strap to distribute the load e venly across your shoulders. Press downwards on the suspension hook to load the harness.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any par t of y our body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Check bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks hav e formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 21 Primer bulb: Press the air purge repeatedly until fuel begins to fill the bulb . The b ulb need not be completely filled. Hold the body of the machine on the ground using your left hand (CA UTION! Not with your foot!).
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 22 – English General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 23 W orking methods • Before y ou star t clear ing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollows etc. • Star t at whichev er end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 24 – English Forestry clearing using a sa w blade • The risk of blade thrust increases with increasing stem size. Y ou should therefore a void cutting with the area of the blade between 12 o’cloc k and 3 o’clock. • T o fell to the left, the bottom of the tree should be pushed to the right.

W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 26 – English Cutting • The trimmer is ideal for cutting grass that is difficult to reach using a normal lawn mower . Keep the cord parallel to the ground when cutting. A void pressing the trimmer head against the ground as this can ruin the lawn and damage the tool.
MAINTENANCE English – 27 Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE 28 – English 4 If the star t throttle speed is too high, turn the adjuster screw A anticloc kwise until the cutting attachment stops. Then tur n adjuster screw A cloc kwise a fur ther 1/2 turn. Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remove dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessary wear to engine par ts • Excessive fuel consumption.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance schedule The follo wing is a list of the maintenance that must be performed on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carr y out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual.
