Star t the engine and mak e sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting. Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to prev ent loose objects from being thrown tow ards the operator .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 fi tted with a catalytic conv er ter is also designed to reduce harmful exhaust gases. In countries that have a w ar m and dry climate there is a significant risk of fire. W e therefore fit certain mufflers with a spark arrestor mesh.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Cutting equipment This section describes how to choose and maintain your cutting equipment in order to: • Reduce the risk of blade thrust. • Obtain maximum cutting perf or mance. • Extend the life of cutting equipment.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 • Sharpen all edges equally to maintain the balance of the blade. Sharpening the sa w blade • See the cutting attachment packaging f or correct sharpening instr uctions . A correctly sharpened blade is essential for working efficiently and to av oid unnecessar y wear to the b lade and clearing saw .
ASSEMBL Y 12 – English Fitting the handlebar (323RII) • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
ASSEMBL Y English – 13 • P osition the handlebar as shown. Fit the mounting components and tighten the knob lightly . • Put on the harness and hang the machine from the suppor t hook. No w make a final adjustment so that the machine is in a comfortable working position when it hangs from the harness.
ASSEMBL Y 14 – English Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Use the recommended blade guard.
ASSEMBL Y English – 15 CA UTION! Use the recommended blade guard. See the T echnical data section. • Fit the drive disc (B) on the output shaft. • T urn the blade shaft until one of the holes in the drive disc aligns with the corresponding hole in the gear housing.
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Adjusting the harness and clearing sa w Standard harness Quick release At the front is an easily accessible, quic k release. Use this if the engine catches fire or in any other emergency situation that requires you to free y ourself from the machine and harness.
FUEL HANDLING English – 17 Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any par t of y our body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 19 Check bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks hav e formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Choke: Set the choke control in the chok e position. Hold the body of the machine on the ground using your left hand (CA UTION! Not with your foot!).
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 21 General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 22 – English The ABC of c learing • Alwa ys use the correct equipment. • Make sure the equipment is well adjusted. • Follo w the safety precautions. • Organise your work carefully . • Alwa ys use full throttle when star ting to cut with the blade.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 23 conditions, so that cleared stems f all in the cleared area of the stand. Forestry clearing using a sa w blade • The risk of blade thrust increases with increasing stem size. Y ou should therefore a void cutting with the area of the blade between 12 o'cloc k and 3 o'clock.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 24 – English Brush cutting with a sa w blade • Thin stems and brush are mown down. Work with a sawing mov ement, swinging side ways. • T r y to cut sev eral stems in a single sawing mov ement. • With groups of hardwood stems, first clear around the group .
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 25 Cutting • The trimmer is ideal for cutting grass that is difficult to reach using a normal lawn mower . Keep the cord parallel to the ground when cutting. A void pressing the trimmer head against the ground as this can ruin the lawn and damage the tool.
MAINTENANCE 26 – English Carburettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE English – 27 Low speed jet L T r y to find the highest idle speed by turning the low speed jet L clockwise then anti-cloc kwise. When the highest speed has been found, turn the low speed jet L 1/4 turn anti-clockwise.
MAINTENANCE 28 – English Adjusting the start throttle speed The correct star t throttle speed is set by means of an adjuster on the rear of the handle next to the cab le. Use this screw (4 mm Allen scre w) to increase or decrease the star t throttle speed.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter. 2 Fins on the flywheel. 3 Cooling fins on the cylinder .
MAINTENANCE 30 – English Oiling the air filter Alw a ys use HUSQV ARNA filter oil, ar t. no. 531 00 92-48. The filter oil contains a solvent to mak e it spread evenly through the filter . Y ou should therefore a void skin contact. Put the filter in a plastic bag and pour the filter oil ov er it.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Maintenance schedule The follo wing is a list of the maintenance that must be performed on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carr y out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this Operator’s Manual.
