6 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Cutting equipment Saw b lades are intended for cutting fibrous types of wood. Grass b lades and grass cutters are intended f or cutting coarse grass . A trimmer head is intended for trimming grass . Locking n ut A locking n ut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment.

Release the throttle and check that the cutting attachment stops and remains at a standstill. If the cutting attachment rotates with the throttle in the idle position then the carburettor idle setting m ust be check ed.

Long periods at full throttle without any load on the engine can lead to serious engine damage. T erms • F orestr y clearing is a general ter m f or cutting small trees, during which each stem is cut individually .
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • T o fell to the right, the bottom of the tree should be pushed to the left. Tilt the blade and bring it diagonally up to the right. Cut with the area of the blade between 3 o’cloc k and 5 o’clock so that the direction of rotation of the b lade pushes the bottom of the tree to the left.

20 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle (240R, 245R, 250R) • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
English – 21 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle (265RX) • Fit the left handlebar in the handlebar mounting. • Fit the right handle to the handlebar . • Adjust roughly and tighten the screws slightly . • Now mak e a fi nal adjustment, with the machine hanging from the harness, to obtain the most comfortable working position.
22 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • The blade guard (A) is fi tted using 4 scre ws (L) and the suppor t plate (M) as shown. CA UTION! Alwa ys use the recommended guard for the cutting attachment you are using.
English – 23 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the trimmer guar d and trimmer head T rimm y SII • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Secure the trimmer guard using the 4 screws (L) and the suppor t plate (M) as shown. • Fit the drive disc (B) on the output shaft.
24 – English ASSEMBL Y Correct height 1 Forestry clearing The machine should be suppor ted in a har ness when f orestr y clearing so that the cutting equipment is angled slightly f orwards in relation to the ground. Adjust the height using the strap on the harness for the support hook.
English – 25 FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
26 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks hav e formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 27 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Stopping Stop the engine by s witching off the ignition. Starting Hold the body of the machine on the ground using y our left hand (CA UTION! Not with your f oot!).
28 – English MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to speci fi cations that reduce har mful emissions.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE High speed jet H The high speed jet H aff ects the engine power , speed, temperature and fuel consumption. If the high speed jet H is set too lean (screw ed in too f ar) the engine speed will be too high and cause engine damage.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Air fi lter The air fi lter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine par ts. • Excessive fuel consumption.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is in fl uenced by: • Incorrect carburettor adjustment. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil). • A dir ty air fi lter . These f actors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes, which ma y result in operating prob lems and star ting dif fi culties.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance schedule Below y ou will fi nd some general maintenance instructions. If you need further information please contact your service workshop . Daily maintenance 1 Check that the harness is not damaged. 2 Clean the outside of the machine.
