GR4 GPS Connection Kit The Humminbird® GR4 GPS Connection Kit includes the following items: • GR4 GPS Antenna Receiver with 20' (6m) cable • AS Y C("Y") cable for multiple accessor.
5. The Matrix Control Head outputs NME A signals thru the "pigtail" cable attac hed to the end of the GR4 GPS Receiver Cable for connection to devices suc h as autopilots. Connect the NMEA Out (White Wire) of the cable t o the NMEA In of the device you are connecting t o your Matrix Fishing System.
Access Under Mounting Location Follow these steps to dec k mount the GPS receiver when you can rout e the cable down through the mounting surface: 1. Determine the best location, then test rout e the 20’ (6 m) cable fromthe Matrix con trol head to the planned mounting location of the GPS Receiver .
Views The following views will be added to the View Rotation when a GPS Receiver is connected to the Matrix Fishing S ystem: Navigation views: • Bird’ s Eye View • T rack View • Combo View Bird’ s Eye View Bird's Eye View - This view shows a 3-D , perspective view of the track from a point above and behind the boat (the eye point).
Combo View Combo View - This view is displayed as a split screen, with T rack View on the left and Sonar View on the right side of the screen. The width of the sonar window can be changed. View Orientation Both Tr a c k and Combo views allow you to choose the orientation of the view .
Save, Edit, or Delete a W aypoint Save your current position as a w aypoint: On any view , press the MENU key to display the X -Press TM menu. Select Mark and press the RIGHT Cursor key to save the curr ent position of the boat as a waypoint.
Add or Remove a T rolling Grid: From the W aypoints submenu, select Grid and press the RIGHT Cursor key to display a list of waypoin ts. Select the waypoint to which you want t o add the grid. The trolling grid will appear on all of the navigation views, and can be used as a guide when trolling around a waypoint.
The Menu System The menu system is divided int o easy-to-use menu modules. The main c omponents of the menu system are: Start-Up Options Menu - Press the MENU key during the power up sequence t o view the Start-Up Options menu.
Start-Up Options Menu Press the MENU key when the Title screen is displayed t o access the Start -Up Options menu. Use the UP or DOWN 4-W A Y Cursor keys to position the cursor , then the RIGHT Cursor key t o select one of the following choices.
Self T est displays results from the int ernal diagnostic self test, including unit serial number , Printed Circuit Board (PCB) serial number , software r evision, total hours of operation and the input voltage. Accessory T est lists the accessories connected to the system.
Navigation X -Press TM Menu (Navigation Views Only) The Navigation X -Press TM menu provides access to the set tings most frequently used. Press the MENU key once while in the Bird's Eye View , the T rack or the Combo View t o access the Navigation X -Press TM menu.
Skip Next W aypoint (Only When Navigating) Skip Next W aypoint remo ves the next waypoint from the curr ent route. This menu c hoice will only appear when you are currently navigating a rout e. T o Skip Next W aypoint: 1. Highlight Skip Next W aypoint on the Navigation X -Press TM menu.
Navigation Menu T ab Press the MENU key twice to access the Main Menu S ystem, then press the RIGHT cursor key t o select the Navigation tab. NOTE: Menu c hoices will vary depending on system set tings.
North Reference North Reference allows you to have bearings displayed with one of two orientations: T rue North or Magnetic Nor th. T o change the North Reference set ting: 1. Highlight North Reference on the Navigation main menu. 2. Use the LEFT or RIGHT 4-W A Y Cursor C ontrol ke ys to change the North Reference set ting .
Delete All Nav Data (Advanced) Delete All Nav Data allows you to delet e all saved T racks and Waypoin ts. This menu choice should be used with caution. NOTE: See Setup Menu T ab: User Mode in your Matrix Fishing System Operations manual. T o Delete All Navigation Data: 1.
Setup Menu T ab From any view , press the MENU key twice to access the tabbed Main Menu System, then press the RIGHT cursor k ey until the Setup tab is selected. NOTE: Menu choices will vary depending on system set tings such as whether the unit is set for Advanced User mode and what accessories are attac hed to the unit.
Local Time Zone (Advanced) Local Time Zone selects your time zone in r eference to the time reported by the GPS receiver when Time+Date is selected as a Digital Readout on the Sonar View (see Select Readouts ). This menu choice is available only when in Advanced User Mode (see Setup Menu T ab: User Mode .
Date Format (Advanced, International Only) Date Format changes the date f ormat used by the unit. This menu choice is available only when in Advanced User Mode (see Setup Menu T ab: User Mode. ) International Models Only . Date Format selects the format for the date display when Time + Date is selected as a Digital Readout on the Sonar View .
Display Problems There are several main conditions or sources of possible in terference that may cause problems with the quality of the information displayed on the contr ol head. Look in the following table for some symptoms of display pr oblems and possible solutions: Problem Possible Cause The control head loses power at high speeds.
Matrix Fishing System Accessories Accessories customize the Matrix Fishing Syst em to your needs and enable you to stay on the edge of new technology . When an accessory is connected to the Matrix Fishing System, additional menus and readouts are added automatically t o the Main Menu System.
