1 How GPS and Cartogr aphy W ork Y our 700 Series™ Chartplotter support s GPS and chartplotting. It uses G PS to determine yo ur position and display i t on a grid. The Glo bal P ositioning System (GPS) is a sa tellite navig ation system des igned and maintained b y the U.
2 How GPS and Cartography W ork The f ollowing GPS functionality is currently supported by the 700 Series™ Chartplotter when it is connected to the included GPS receiv er: • V iew current position.

5 V iews The GPS and na vigation informa tion from your Chartplotter are display ed on your scre en in a variety of easy-to-r ead views. T here are many vie ws available on your Chartplotter . W hen you press the VIEW k ey , the display cycles through the available vie ws on your screen.
6 T o customize your views r otation: Y ou can choose which views are hidden or visible in your vie w rotation. 1. Press the MENU ke y twice to access the tabbed Main Menu, then press the RIGHT Cur sor key until the V iews tab is selected. 2. Press the UP or DOWN Cursor k eys to select a V iew.

13 Instrument V iew Instrument Vie w allows you to displa y a digital instrument panel with 8 selectable readouts. T his view provides a digital compass at the top of the vie w , as well as 8 selectable readouts , and a Cross T rack Error (XTE) gr aphic at the bottom of the view .
14 Screen Snapshot V iew Screen Snapshot V iew shows the scr een snapshots that you hav e saved on the MMC/SD card (optional-purchase). Use this vie w to access your saved scr een snapshots by selecting the thumbnail for each file. Press the DOWN or UP Cursor ke ys to scroll through the snapshot thumbnails in this view .

20 Chart Info: Press the INFO key to get detailed information about the chart. If the cursor is active, you will see information about the chart objects loca ted near the cursor .
21 Nearest Tide Station: Tide information for the nearest tide station to your present position will be displayed. T his includes the position of the station and the times of the high and low tides for today’s date. A tide graph is also displayed showing the rise and fall of the tides for the 24 hour time period encompassing the date.
22 Introduction to Navigation Use your 700 Series™ Chartplotter to mark wa ypoints at areas of interest and to navigate to those wa ypoints via a savable route. A route represents the shortest intended distance between waypoints. Y ou can also view and save tracks, which repr esent the actual path of the boat.
23 W aypoints, Routes, and T racks W aypoints are stored positions that allow you to mark areas of interest or navigati on points. Y our Chartplotter can store up to 3000 waypoints.

25 Edit a w aypoint: From the W aypoints submenu, select Edit and pr ess the RIGHT Cursor ke y to display the saved wa ypoints list. Select the waypoint you want to edit and press the RIGHT Cursor ke y. Use the 4-W A Y Cursor Control key to edit a wa ypoint name, latitude, longitude, and icon before selecting Save.
26 Navigate to a W aypoint or P osition Navigate to the cursor position: From the Chart views, use the 4-W A Y Cursor Control key to mov e the cur sor to a position or w aypoint on the display . Press the GOT O ke y . Navigation will begin immediately .
27 Skipping a wa ypoint: From the Navigation X -Press™ Menu, select Skip Next W aypoint, and press the RIGHT Cursor key . If there is not another wa ypoint to skip to, navigation will be cancelled. Cancel navigation: From the Navigation X -Press™ Menu, select Cancel Naviga tion, and press the RIGHT Cursor key .
28 Add or Remove a T rolling Grid: The trolling gr id shows various distance r anges in grid format f rom the wa ypoint you choose. T he trolling grid can be used as a guide when trolling around a waypoint. From the W aypoints submenu, select Grid, and press the RIGHT Cursor key to display the sav ed waypoints list.
29 Sav e, Edit, or Delete a Route Save the current r oute: While you are na vigating, the current r oute can be saved. Fr om the Navigation X-Pr ess™ Menu, select Save Current Route, and press the RIGHT Cursor ke y . Navigation will continue. Create a route: Fr om the Routes submenu, select Create and press the RIGHT Cursor key .
30 Route Info: F rom the Routes submenu, select Info, and pr ess the RIGHT Cursor key . T he saved routes list will appear . Select a route, and press the RIGHT Cursor k ey .
31 Edit, Delete, or Hide Sav ed T racks Display the Sav ed T racks Submenu: From any vie w , pr ess th e MENU key twice to display the M ain Menu, then press the RIGHT Cursor key to select the Naviga tion tab. Select Saved T racks, and press the RIGHT Cursor key to display the Saved T racks submenu.
32 Man Overboar d (MOB) Navigation As soon as you kno w that you have a man overboar d (MOB), you should activate MOB navigation to maximize the chances for a successful rescue. MOB navigati on allows you to create an MOB waypoint to locate the point at which your man went overboar d and the relatio n of the boat to that point.
33 Cancel MOB navigation: Press the MENU key once to access Navigation X-Pr ess™ Menu. Select Cancel MOB, and press the RIGHT Cursor ke y . Canceling MOB naviga tion remo ves the r oute and any w aypoints created using the GOT O ke y but does not remove any saved routes from memory .
34 Using Y our 700 Series™ Control Head Y our 700 Series ™ Chartplotter interface is easy to use. A combination of ke ys and special f eatures allows y ou to contr ol what y ou see on the display . Refer to the following illustration, and see Key Functions for more information.
35 Ke y Functions Y our Chartplotter user interface consists of a set of easy-to-use ke ys that work with various on-scr een views and menus to give y ou flexibility and control o ver your fishing experience. POWER/LIGHT Ke y The POWER/LIGHT key is used to power the Chartplotter on and off.
36 INFO Ke y Info - Press the INFO ke y while in Bird's Eye or Chart V iew to display information about objects that are near an active cursor . If the cur sor is not act iv e, the Char t Info sub menu wil l be disp la yed . Pr ess the DOWN Cur sor ke y to sel ect Near est P ort, Near est T ide St at ion, or Nea re st Curr ent Sta tio n.
37 Press the MENU key twice to access the Main Menu. Press the RIGHT or LEFT Cursor k eys to select a tab. T hen press the DOWN or UP Cursor key to highlight a menu option, and press the LEFT or RIGHT Cursor ke y to change a menu setting.
38 MARK Ke y Press the MARK key while in any view to mark the position of a waypoint . The MARK key function works if you have a GPS receiver connected or if you have activa ted Screen Snapshot from the Accessories menu tab.
39 ZOOM (+/-) Ke y Press the - or + ZOOM keys while in any of the Chart or Bird’s Eye V iews to change the scale of the view to appear closer or farther away . VIEW PRESET Ke ys The VIEW PRESET k eys ar e used to save your thr ee fa vorite vie ws for quick r etrieval.
40 EXIT Ke y The EXIT key has multiple functions, depending on the situation: • If an alarm is sounding , press the EXIT ke y to cancel the alarm. • If a menu tab is selected , press the EXIT key to exit the menu mode and return to the view . • If a menu is active , press the EXIT key to return to the pre vious level in the menu system.
41 Multi-Media Card (MMC)/SD Slot The multi-media card (MMC)/SD slot on y our control head can be used with MMC/SD cards (optional-purchase required) to add detailed ch ar ts to y ou r Ch ar tp l ot te r , up da te yo ur Chartplotter software, or export navigation data from your Chartplotter .

43 E E x x p p o o r r t t i i n n g g N N a a v v i i g g a a t t i i o o n n D D a a t t a a Y ou can export all sav ed T racks, Wa ypoints, and Routes from your Chartplotter to an optional-pur chase MMC/SD card. T he Export All Na v Data menu option is availabl e when User Mode is set to Advanced.
44 Accessory Bus Use the Accessory Bus to expand the functionality of your Chartplotter . Accessories plug directly into the Chartplotter , enabling Advanced features such as Wea therSense® and the SmartCast® Wir eless Sonar Link.
45 P owering On the Unit Press the POWER/LIGHT key to power on your Chartplotter . T he Title screen is shown until the Chartplotter begins operation. After the Title screen is displayed, a 30 second Navigation W arning screen is shown.
46 T he Menu System The Menu System is divided into easy-to-use menu modules. The main components of the menu system are as follows: • Start-Up Options Menu: Press the MENU key while the T itle Screen is displayed (during the power on sequence) to view the Start -Up Options Menu.

49 S S y y s s t t e e m m S S t t a a t t u u s s Use System Status to view system connections and to conduct a unit self-test. After you select System Status from the Start -Up Options Menu, press the VIEW key to display the following options: • Self T est • Accessory T est • GPS Diagnostic V iew .

51 GPS Diagnostic View shows a sky chart and numerical data from the GPS receiver . The sky chart shows the location of each visible GPS satellite with its satellite number and a signal strength bar . A dark gra y bar indicates that the satellite is being used to determine your current position.
52 X -Press™ Menu The X -Press™ Menu provides a shortcut to your most frequently-used settings. T he options prov ided on the X-Pr ess™ Menu corr espond with the current view . T o use an X-Press™ Menu: 1. In any view , pr ess the MENU key once to open the X-Pr ess ™ Menu.
53 Main Menu The Main Menu provides the standard set of menu options, including the settings that are changed less frequently . The Main Menu is organized under the f ollowing tabs to help you find a specific menu item quickly: Alarms, Navigat ion, Chart, Setup, Vie ws, Accessories.

60 Clear Current T rack Clear Current T rack allows you to clear the current track being displayed and start a new track at the present position. T o Clear Current T rack: 1. Highlight Clear Current T rack on the Navigation X-Pr ess™ Menu. 2. Press the RIGHT Cursor key to initiate clearing the current track.
61 Skip Next W aypoint (only when Navigating) Skip Next Wa ypoint remov es the next w aypoint from the current route. T his menu option will only appear when you are currently navigating a route. T o Skip Next W aypoint: 1. Highlight Skip Next Wa ypoint on the Naviga tion X -Press™ Menu.
62 Cancel MOB Navigation (only when MOB Navigation is activated) Cancel MOB Navigation removes the Man Overboard (MOB) waypoint and exits Man Overboard mode. This menu option will only appear when you are currently navigating in Man Overboard mode. T o Cancel MOB Navigation: 1.
63 Remov e Grid (only if a Grid is Active) Remove Grid remov es the waypoint grid fr om the display . T his menu option will only appear when a grid has already been applied to a waypoint. 64 T he W aypoint Submenu contains the following menu options: Edit allows you to edit the Name, Position (Latitude and Longitude) and select the Icon that will be used to represent the waypoint in the Chart views. Delete allows you to delete a waypoint from the saved waypoints list.
65 Select Readouts Select Readouts sets individual digital readouts on the Instrument View , all the Chart V iews, and the Bird's Eye Vie ws. The digital readouts are displayed in fixed-position da ta windows which are arranged around the edges of the screen.

Course Made Good/Speed Made Good: Course Made Good is the angle between the starting point on a route and the current position of the boat.

74 Delete Image (optional-purchase MMC/SD Card, Screen Snapshot Vie w only) Delete Image allows you to delete a single screen capture image from the Screen Snapshot V iew . This menu option is only av ailable when you hav e an optional-purchase MMC/SD card installed, you ar e in Screen Snapshot Vie w , and you hav e selected an image thumbnail.

76 Low Battery Alarm Low B att ery A la rm sounds when the input battery v oltage is equal to or less than the menu setting. T he battery alarm will only sound for the ba ttery that is connected to the Chartplotter .

78 Off Course Alarm Off Cour se Alarm allows you to set ho w far the boat is allowed to move off course before the Off Course Alarm will sound during navigation. T o change the Off Course Alarm setting: 1. Highlight Off Course Alarm on the Alarms main menu.
79 Arrival Alarm Arrival Alarm sounds when the boat has either exceeded the distance to the destination w aypoint, or has entered the Arrival Alarm Circle, based on the menu setting when na vigating. Arrival Alarm allows you to set ho w close the boat must be to the destination waypoint before the Arrival Alarm will sound.
80 T o change the Drift Alarm setting: 1. Highlight Drift Alarm on the Alarms main menu. 2. Press the LEFT or RIGHT Cursor keys to change the Drift Alarm setting. (Off, 25 to 3000 feet, 10 to 1000 meters [International Models only] , Default = Off) Alarm T one Alarm T one selects the pitch of the alarm sound.
