5 2.2 Installing Your Phone 2.2.1 Installing the SIM/USIM Card Follow the steps below to install the SIM/USIM card. 1. Remove the bac k cover. 2. Flip the compartm ent cover to o pen it.
6 2. Insert the microSD card unt il it clicks into place. ■ Note: Before installin g the microSD card, power your phone off, to pre vent the data stored in the microSD card from bein g lost . 2.2.3 Charging the Battery The mobile phone comes with a built-in b attery.

8 2.5 Setting the Mode 2.5.1 Setting t he Phone to Silent Mode 1. Press and hold to display the Phone Options menu. 2. Touch Silent mode . Or, on a locked sc reen, d rag the spe ake r icon f rom ri ght to left . To undo silent mode, re peat the s teps ab ove.

Touch and hold the notification s bar, then flick down to open the notifications panel. 2. Do any of t he following: • Touch a notificatio n to open the related app lication.
12 Moving a Scr een Item 1. Touch and hold the item on the Home scree n until the item enlarges and becomes mov eable. This is the edit screen mode. 2. Without lifting your finger, dr ag the item to the desired pos ition on the Home screen. 3. Release your finger to comple te move.
13 3 Contacts Contacts is your phonebook t hat lets y ou sav e infor matio n such a s na mes, phone n umber s, email addresses, pictures, etc. 3.1 Opening Contacts Do one of the following t o open Contacts : • Touch > Contacts . • Touch > Contacts .
14 3.4 Searching for Contacts 1. In the contact list, touch > Search . 2. Enter the name of the cont act you want to sear ch. As you type, match ed contacts appear below the sear ch box. 3.5 Editing Contacts 1. In the contact list, touch and hold the contact that you wan t to edit, then touch Edit contact .
15 4 Calling To make a phone call, you can dial a n umber or touch a number from your contact list, a web page, or a d ocument . When you are on a call, yo u can answer other in coming calls or se nd th em to your voic email box or set up conference calls with several participants .
16 4.2 Answering or Rejecting a Call 4.2.1 Answering an Inco ming Call When a call co mes in, an inco ming c all mess age is d ispla yed on th e s creen. I f th e caller is listed in Contacts , the contact ’s n ame and numb er ap pear on the scr een .
17 4.3 Other Operations During a Call When a new call is received d uring a call, you can answer the new call and pu t the current o ne on hold, switch between ca lls, or s et up a c onfer ence c all. 4.3.1 Making a Confere nce Call Conference call allow s you to set up a ph one conver sation with multiple partic ipants at the same time.
18 4.4 Using Call Log Call lo g contains the most rec ent ca lls you ha ve d ialed, re ceived o r miss ed. In the call log list , tou ch an ent ry to view t he call det ails a nd acc ess other options . 4.4.1 Adding an Entry to Contacts 1. Touch > Call lo g .
19 5 Entering Text 5.1 Displaying the Keyboard Panel Some applications, such as mess aging, automatica lly displays the ke yboard. In othe rs, touch the text field to disp lay the k eyboa rd. Touch to hide the keyboard. 1. Touch and hold the space where yo u want to enter you r text until the Edit text menu is displayed.
20 5.1.3 Using the Hu awei IME Keyboard Huawei Keyboard Swipe your finger to the lef t or right to sw it ch between full keyboard and T9 keypad. Huawei T9 Keypa d To enter a wor d in T9 mode, touch eac h key once for a si ngle letter. The phone displays matching words as you ty pe.

22 5.1.5 Using the L andscape Keyboard For a wider keyboard , turn the phone side ways to display the key board in landscape mod e. Hold your phone on both h ands and use bot h thumbs to ty pe. 5.2 Customizing Keyboard Settings 1. Touch > > Settings > Language & keyboard .
23 6 Email and Messaging Use Messaging to exchange text (SMS ) and multimedia (MMS) mes sages . Use Email to send and receive email messages using I nterne t ema il or Exchan ge serv er acc ou nts. 6.1 Text and Multimedia Messag es A text message can only cont ain let ter s, numbers, and symbols.

25 6.2 Email You can send an d receive emails on you r phone just as you do with a computer. You can use your Internet email a ccoun t, su ch a s Yaho o!, H otma il, AOL, or oth er s er vices o n yo ur phone. 6.2.1 Setting Up an Email Account When using Email for the first time, the setup wizard will guide you to se t up an acc ount.
26 4. Compose your message. 5. When you are finished, touch Send . 6.2.6 Forwarding Emails 1. On the accounts scree n, touch the email acc ount that you want to use. 2. Touch the em ail message that you want to forw ard. 3. Touch > Forward . 4. In the To field, enter the email address.
27 7 Getting Connected 7.1 Using GPRS/3G Connection Your phone can con nec t to t he Intern et via Wi-Fi or netwo rk data co nnect ion, such as GPRS or 3G connection. Wh en both Wi-Fi a nd netw ork data c onne ction a re availab le, the mobile phone prefers the Wi-Fi connec tion.
28 • If you select an unsecured network, to uch Connect to establish the conne ct ion. • If you select a secured net work for the fi rst time, enter the passwor d, then touc h Connect .
29 7.4 Using Bluetooth Bluetooth allows you to shar e files, talk ha nds -free , or trans fer f iles to o ther B luetoot h devic es within a 10-met er (33 f eet) d istanc e. 7.4.1 Turning On Bluetooth 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks , and then s elect the Bluetooth check box to turn on B luetooth.
30 ■ Note: You cannot op en some applications, such as Ca mera, when using the microSD card as a USB mass storage device . 7.5.2 Removing the microSD Card 1. Touch > Settings > S torage . 2. Touch Unmount SD card . 3. Remove the microSD card.
31 8 Using the Internet Your phone can connec t t o th e Internet via Wi-Fi or a mobile network connection. Whe n both Wi-Fi and mobile network conn ec tion are present at the same time, your phone auto matically prefers the Wi- Fi connection. 8.1 Browser Use Browser to access and surf the Internet.
32 2. Touch > Bookmarks > Add . The Add bookmark scre en opens. 3. Edit the bookmar k name if n ecessary, t hen touch OK . Opening a Bookmark 1. On the browser screen, touch > Bookmarks . On the Bookmarks screen, tou ch the Most Visited tab or the Histor y tab to filter an d view the pages you hav e vis ited.
33 8.3 Google Account Google applications, su ch a s Talk, Gmail, and Mark et, c ome preinst alled on your ph one. To u se these applicatio ns , yo u must sign in with your Google account. When you turn on your phone for the first time and open a Go ogle service, you will be prompted to enter your us ername and password.
34 8.4.3 Replying t o Emails 1. On the Inbox screen, touch the email that you wa nt to reply to. 2. Touch , and then touch Reply or Reply all . 3. Compose your message. 4. When you are finished, touch > Send or . 8.4.4 Forwarding Emails 1. On the Inbox screen, touch the email that you wa nt to forward.

41 9 Entertainment 9.1 Taking Photos and Recording Videos 9.1.1 Opening the Camera/Camcorder • Touch > Camera to open the ca mera. Th e camer a opens in lands cape mode, r eady t o take a pic ture. • Touch > Camcorder to open the camcorder. The ca mcorder opens in landscap e mode, ready to reco rd a video.
42 9.1.4 Recording Vide os 1. Open the camco rder. If y ou are in c amera mode, d rag the butt on to swit ch to ca mcorder mode. 2. If necessary, change the ca mcorder settings. 3. Touch to start record ing video. 4. Touch to stop recording. 9.1.5 Viewing You r Videos 1.
43 9.2.4 Cropping Picture s 1. When viewing a picture, touch > More . 2. Touch Crop . 3. Use the cropping tool to select the portio n of the picture to crop: • Drag inside the cropping tool to move it. • Drag and hold an edge of the cropping to resize the image.
44 10 Synchronizing Information Some applications on you r mobile phon e give you ac cess to the same p ersona l info rmation t hat you can add, vi ew, an d edit on y our co mput er. If y ou add, change, or delet e your info rmation in any of these applicat ions on the web, the updated inform ation also appears on your mobile phone.

46 11 Using Other Applications 11.1 Using the Calculator Use the Calculator to solve simple arithmet ic proble ms or use its advanced oper ators to solv e more complex equation s. 11.1.1 Opening the Calculator Touch > Calculator to open the application.
