1 1 W arnings and Precautions T o use the device properl y and safely , r ead these warnings and pr ecautions carefully and st rictl y observe them duri ng operati on. Unless ot herwise spe cified, the term "devic e" refers to the dev ice and its accessor ies.
2 Do not place an y object (such as a candle or a water container) on the device. If an y foreign object or liqui d enters the devic e, stop using the dev ice immediatel y , po wer it off, remove all the cabl es connected t o it, and then contact an authorize d service c enter .
3 Ensure that the power adapter m eets the specificat ions indic ated on the device nameplat e. Ensure that the power adapter m eets the requirements of Claus e 2.5 in IEC6 0950 - 1/EN609 50 - 1 and it is t ested and appr oved accordi ng to nation al or local standards.
4 Before cleanin g the device, stop using it, power it off, and then rem ove all the cables con nected to it. Use a clean, soft, and dr y cloth to clean th e device shell.

8 2 Connecting the Ca bles and Getting S tarted Thank you for pur chasing the HG532s Hom e Gateway (her einafter referred to as the HG532s ). Y ou can go online usi ng the A DSL and USB modem services. However , you can only use one type of serv ice at one time.
9 2.2 Connecting C ables Using the USB Port I f you do not have ADSL service in your hom e, you can go online usin g the USB modem service (through the U SB port).
10 2.3 Powering O n the HG532s After connecting the c ables, pres s the On/Off but ton on the si de panel to power on the HG532s . After you power on the HG 53 2s , the P ow e r indicator light turns on. − When connecti ng cables usi ng the ADS L port , The ADS L indicat or lights up and starts blinking .
11 3 Settin g Network Acces s Param eters 3.1 Logging in to the Web-Based Configu ration Utility Most parameters of t he HG532s are pres et before deliv ery to meet c ommon application s cenarios at homes.
12 3.2 Configuring a W ireless Acc ount The configurat ion wizard page is displayed when wireless paramet er s ha ve not been modified . To set t he wireless net work name and pas sword for wireless connections o n the wizard p age, do as follo ws : Step 1 Log in to the HG 532s's web - based co nfigurat ion utility.
13 Step 6 In ISP Name , enter a name for the dial - up con nection, and c lick Next . Step 7 Select Anyon e's use or M y use only , and cl ick Next . Step 8 Enter the user name and pass word provided b y your operator f or dial - up connect ions, and click Next .
14 Step 1 Press and hold the WPS button for over 1 second on the side panel of the HG532s . The WPS indicat or on the HG532s s tarts blin king, indicat ing that t he HG532s is in the W PS negotiation s tate. Step 2 Within 2 minut es, enable the W PS negotiati on function on the computer.
15 Step 2 Find the wirele ss network name ( SSID ) and its pass word ( WL AN Key ) printed on the l abel on the HG532s 's rear pa nel. Step 3 Configure the wireless net work connection o n the computer as follows: 1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communica tions > Network Connectio ns .
16 5 Using the USB Port 5.1 Going Online U sing a USB Mode m By default, the HSP A uplink service is enable d. When the HG 53 2s is working in USB modem mode , connect the USB modem to the HG53 2s so that your device can acc ess the Interne t through the HSP A uplink service.
17 5.2 Accessing portable Storage Devic es Using the FTP Server The HG 532s supports a hom e storage funct ion. After a portable storage d evi ce is connected to the USB port, you can config ure the HG53 2s through the FT P server to acces s the portable storage d evice from the LAN or I nternet.
18 5.3 Accessing a Printer Using the Pr inter Server The HG 532s supp orts a printing funct ion. After a printer is c onnected to t he USB port, you can confi gure the HG53 2s through the FT P server to access and use the printer . For details about ho w to use the pri nter: Step 1 Log in to the HG 532s's web - based co nfigurat ion utility.
19 6 Maintenance Guide 6.1 Changing the User Name and Passw o rd for the Web - Based Configuration Utili ty For security reasons or to m ake the password eas y to remember, you can change the user name and password for th e w eb - based configur ation utili ty .
20 6.2 Enabling or Disabling the Wire l ess Network Function There are t wo methods for enabli ng or disabl ing the wirel ess network f unction. Using the WLAN Butto n To enable or d isable the wireless net work function, press the W L AN button on the side panel of the HG532s .
21 Step 3 Click the WL AN tab. Step 4 Select Enabl e W L AN . Step 5 In SSID , enter a wireless net work name. Step 6 For Securit y, select WP A - PS K /W P A2 -PSK . In WPA pre - shared key , enter a pa ssword. Use th e default set tings for ot her parameters.
22 6.5 Restoring D efault Settings If you restore t he HG532s t o its defaul t settings, all customized user data will be lost. Use this func tion only when nec essary . T o restore the HG532s to its default settings, p ower on the HG532s , p ress and hold the Reset button on the r ear panel for over 6 secon ds, and then rele ase the button .
23 7 F AQs How can I quic kly enable or di sable the wireless net work function ? Press and hold the W L AN but ton for over 1 s econd, and then r elease the button.
24 If the ADS L indicat or is still off, contact your network servic e provider . Step 3 Check whether the L AN indicat or is on. If the LAN ind icator is off, perfor m further checks as follows : 1. Check that the network adapt er on your com puter is enabl ed.
25 1. Close the PP P dial - up soft ware, and po wer off the HG532s . After 5 minutes, po wer on the HG532s , and use the PPP dial - up software t o dial again. 2. Restore the H G532s to its de fault sett ings. If the problem persists, contact your net work servic e provider .
26 If the problem persists, restore t he HG532s to i ts default settings . For details, see " How can I qui ckly restor e the HG532s to its default settings?" What can I do if I cannot acces.
27 Step 8 Check that you c an use the PPP dial - up software to set up dial - up connection. Step 9 Try to access more websites to check whether the HG532s can access these we bsites. If you still ca nnot access t he websites, rest ore the HG532s to i ts default sett ings.

30 Indicator Status Description ADSL Blinking T he ADSL connectio n is being act ivated. On The ADSL connectio n is set up and activ ated. Off No digital subs criber line (DS L) connection i s set up, or the DSL conn ection is f aulty. WLAN On The WLAN c onnection is set up, but no data is being transmit ted.
