28 G etting Started 1.2 Installing the SIM Card , B att ery , and Storage Car d Y ou need to remo ve the back cover bef ore you can install the SIM card, battery and storage card. A lso, make sur e to always turn off the pow er before installing or replacing the SIM card and battery .
Getting Started 29 T o remov e the SIM card 1. Remove the battery if it is installed. 2. Inser t the tip of the stylus into the small hole abov e the SIM card slot, and then push the SIM card out with the stylus. 3. Slide the SIM card out from the slot with your other thumb or finger .
30 G etting Started T o install the battery Align the battery ’ s exposed copper contacts with the battery connectors at the bottom part of the battery compar tment. Inser t the contacts side of the battery first and then gently push the battery into place.
Getting Started 31 1.3 Charging the Batt er y New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before y ou star t using your device, it is recommended that you install and char ge the batter y . Some batteries per form best after several full charge/discharge cycles.

36 G etting Started 1.7 Notifications When you tap any of the sta tus icons in the title bar , the Notifications screen opens and displays the remaining batt ery status, time count showing data connection usage (if your data connection is on), and all your pending notifications including missed calls, new SMS/MMS messages, and mor e.
Getting Started 37 1.8 Start S creen The Start screen gives you one-touch access to the prog rams and settings of your device. T o open the Start screen, touch Start at the top left corner of the screen, or press the ST ART button ( ) . Swipe upward to view more program and folder icons.
38 G etting Started 1.9 Quick Menu The Quick menu, which can be opened from the top right c orner of the screen, shows the currently running pr ograms. Y ou can quickly switch between running programs , stop programs , and see how much program memory is being used.
Getting Started 39 1.10 Adjusting the V olume A single volume control adjusts both the sy stem volume (notifications and audio/ video playback volume) and the phone ring volume of y our device. 40 G etting Started 1.11 Using F inger Gestures Y ou can use finger gestures to scr oll and pan on the touch screen. Finger scr olling Finger scr olling can be used to scroll up and down w eb pages, documents, and lists such as the contacts list, file list, message list, calendar appointments list, and more .

42 G etting Started 1.12 Using the Z oom Bar The Zoom bar located belo w the touch screen is a handy zoom control that is unique on y our device. When you are viewing a web page in Opera Mobile or a photo in Album, you can zoom in by sliding your finger from left to right acr oss the Zoom bar , or zoom out by sliding from right to left.

44 G etting Started 1.14 Lock Screen The Lock screen is displa yed whenever your device is locked. Y ou can lock your device to prev ent accidental button or L CD display presses when the device is in your bag or pocket. When your device is locked, y ou are still notified of new messages, missed calls, and upcoming appointments.

46 G etting Started Receiving a phone call when the device is lock ed with a password Y ou can receiv e an incoming call when the phone is locked. When a simple PIN is enabled, the following scr een is shown when you accept the call: T ap the on-screen buttons to hold the call, mut e the microphone, or turn the speakerphone on.
Chapt er 2 Using Phone F eatures 2.1 Making Calls T o make a call, you can either dial a number or select a contact you want t o call. Note Most SIM cards are preset with a PIN (personal identification number) tha t is provided by your wireless service provider .
48 Using Phone F eatures T o call a phone number or contact 1. Begin entering the first few numbers or characters by tapping the key s on the Phone keypad. As you en ter numbers or letters, the Smart Dial panel displays matches found . If you tap a wrong number or character , tap to erase each subsequent digit or character .
Using Phone F eatures 49 Tips • During a call, use the VOLUME UP/DOWN butt on on the side of the device to adjust the phone volume. • T o send a text message to a selected contact, touch , and then tap the icon to the right of the contact’ s mobile phone number.

52 Using Phone F eatures If you made a call from a meeting request email, y ou can view the meeting details in the email directly on the Phone screen while the call is in progr ess. An email indicator is shown on the K eypad button ( ). T ap this button to view the meeting details.

Using Phone F eatures 55 T o use the speakerphone During a call, do one of the following to turn the speakerphone on or off: T ap to turn the speakerphone on. T ap this button again to turn the speakerphone off. Placing your device face do wn automatically turns on the speakerphone.
56 Using Phone F eatures Alway s . Always reduces ambient noise during the entire course of y our phone call. Never . T urns off noise reduc tion. Notes • If you want to change the noise reduction setting to Aut omatically , make sure to do this before starting a call.
Using Phone F eatures 57 2.3 U sing Call History The missed call icon icon appears in the title bar when you missed a call. Use the Call History tab to check who the caller was, or view all your dialed numbers and received calls . T o open the Call History tab, tap Call History or Missed Call on the T ouchFL O 3D Home tab.
58 Using Phone F eatures 2.4 Speed Dial Use Speed Dial to call frequently-used numbers with a single tap . For example, if you assign a contact to the location 4 in Speed Dial , you can tap and hold the number 4 key on the Phone screen keypad to dial the contact’ s number .
Using Phone F eatures 59 4. When the called party accepts the invitation, point the device ’ s camera at your subject. The called par ty receives the str eaming live video .
60 Using Phone F eatures 4. Select conference call participants by selecting the check boxes of contacts or phone numbers, and then tap Conf erence . The participants list is then displayed. T ap these buttons if you want to choose from other stored phone numbers and use them to call the participants.
Using Phone F eatures 61 7. When the first call is connected, tap the photo of the second participant to dial the second call. The first call is automatically put on hold. 8. When the second call is connected, tap the Join button ( ) to add it to the conferenc e call and then dial the next par ticipant.
62 Using Phone F eatures Managing the confer ence call While a confer ence call is in progress , you can do the following: T o manage the conf erence call in landscape view T o talk in private with a participant and put the others in the conference call on hold , tap the participant ’ s photo and then tap Priv ate .

64 Using Phone F eatures T o turn on the speakerphone during a c onference call While a call or confer ence call is in progress , you can turn on the speakerphone by simply placing your device face down. Y our device pro vides crystal- clear sound quality and voice reception during conference calls .
Using Phone F eatures 65 4. Select the check boxes of the sender and recipients who y ou want to join in your confer ence call and then tap Conference . T ap Conference when you are ready t o start the conference call . Select the check boxes of the participants.
66 Using Phone F eatures 2.7 T urning the Phone F unction O n and Off In many countries, you ar e required by law to turn off the phone while on board an aircraft. T o enable or disable the phone function 1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab , and then tap Communications .
Using Phone F eatures 67 2. When prompted to initializ e PT T , tap Y es . 3. Enter your reg ister name (up to 20 characters), and then tap OK . A PTT initialization in process message appears. After the initialization proc ess is completed, y ou receive a notification that the PTT ser vice is suc cessfully initialized.
68 Using Phone F eatures An invitation is sent to the PTT contact and the “Invitation in Pr ogress” icon appears on the screen. When the PT T contact accepts the in vitation, they are automatically added to your PT T contacts list. The contact’ s icon shows their status.
Using Phone F eatures 69 T o make a gr oup call 1. On the PT T Contacts screen, select the group y ou want to call. 2. Press and hold the PTT button and after the sound, begin talking with your group . 3. Release the PT T button when you ar e finished speak ing.

3.1 Using the T ouchFL O 3D Home Screen T ouchFL O™ 3D gives you touch contr ol over your Windows Mobile-powered device. T ouchFL O 3D provides a Home screen that allo ws finger-touch access to the most widely-used functions, such as People , M essages, Mail , Music, and Internet.
76 T ouchFLO™ 3D Expand button Switching betw een the tabs of the Home screen T o switch between the tabs, y ou can do any of the following: T ouch or tap the desired tab . Press and hold y our finger on the active tab, and then slide your finger right or left over the tabs.
T ouchFL O™ 3D 77 Swipe left across the screen to mov e to the nex t tab , and swipe right across the screen to mov e to the previous tab . When using the hardware keyboar d, press the right key to move to the next tab, and pr ess the left key to move to the previous tab .
78 T ouchFLO™ 3D 3.2 Home The Home tab displays the curren t date, a flip-style clock, and an alarm icon that indicates whether the alarm is on or off . M issed calls and your upcoming calendar appointments are also shown on the Home tab . Open the appointment details screen, where you can view , edit, or delete the appointment.
T ouchFL O™ 3D 79 This is your local time. T o change the local time to another city , select the button before the city name. The date and time in selected cities. Add another city . Return to the Home tab. Remove or rearrange the cities, or adjust the local time.
80 T ouchFLO™ 3D Alarm Clock On the Home tab, tap the clock, and then touch the Alarm Clock tab ( ) to open the Alarm Clock screen. Y ou can set up to three alarms on this tab . T ouch an alarm time to open the Set Alarm screen and set the time and days when to sound the alarm clock.
T ouchFL O™ 3D 81 3.3 P eople On the People tab , you can add favorite contacts and quickly make calls or send text and email messages to these contacts. Fr om the People tab , you can also set up your own contact card, cr eate new contacts, and easily view exchanged t ext, multimedia and email messages with a contact.

T ouchFL O™ 3D 89 F acebook updates and even ts If you and your stored c ontacts have F acebook accounts and you linked to F acebook when you were creating My C ontact Card, you can easily check which of your contacts have updat es that occurred in F acebook.
90 T ouchFLO™ 3D Indicates that you have an invitation f or an event in F acebook. T ap Me to open Opera Mobile and access your F acebook site so you can choose to accept or decline the invitation. Lists contacts who have upcoming events. Displays you and the contacts who have updates in F acebook.
T ouchFL O™ 3D 91 5. In the Events list, tap an ev ent to send a greeting via a t ext message to the contact or view the contact details. If it is a F acebook event, tap it to access your F acebook site and view information about that event .

T ouchFL O™ 3D 97 3.7 Internet On the Internet tab , you can open Opera Mobile™ to brow se the web , search information, and add push web pages . This tab also lets you enable Push Internet to update the contents of y our push web pages before you bro wse them.
98 T ouchFLO™ 3D T o automatically updat e your push web pages Automatically updat e your push web pages to ensur e that you brow se the latest versions of your fav or ite w eb sites every time you access them from the Internet tab. The updated web sites ar e cached in the device memor y so that they load faster in Opera Mobile.
T ouchFL O™ 3D 99 3.8 Calendar The Calendar tab displays a mon thly calendar and allows you to quickly create and view appointments. Switch to Day view so you can view or create appointments for the current day . T ouch a date to view or create appointments f or that date.

T ouchFL O™ 3D 105 T o set an album as a F avorite 1. On the Photos and Videos tab, touch A lbum . 2. T ouch Albums and then select one of the listed favorite albums . 3. T ap Menu > Set Album as F avorite and then tap OK on the c onfirmation screen.
106 T ouchFLO™ 3D 3.11 Music The Music tab allows you t o visually browse thr ough albums and music tracks and play music. The albums and music tracks that you see on the Music tab are fr om the Now Playing list of the Library . Go to the previous album or the previous track in the current album.
T ouchFL O™ 3D 107 T o mov e for ward or backw ard in the current music track T ouch and hold on the thin bar below the album art to display the progress bar: Drag your finger right or left on the progress bar t o move forward or backward in the current track.

T ouchFL O™ 3D 109 3.12 W eather The Weather tab sho ws you the current w eather as well as weather inf or mation f or the next four days of the week. The W eather tab can display weather inf ormation of your local city and/or weather in up to ten cities .
110 T ouchFLO™ 3D The Select City screen then appears. Flick your finger on the scr een or use the Quick Scroll bar on the right of the screen to scroll thr ough the cit y list.
