9 Navigation Control The 4-way Naviga tion Control and the OK button allow you to access the various menus ava ilable from the On Screen Display (OSD). You ca n configure a wide range of settings to ensure maximum resul ts from your images and videos.
10 Camera Memo ry Internal memory Your camera is equipped with 64MB of internal memory . Users can store files u p to 37MB. If there is no memory card in serted in the mem ory card slot, all photos, videos and audio cli ps recorded are automatically stored in the internal memory.

12 Turning the Power On and Off There are two ways to power on the camera: • Press the Power but ton, and the start up image displays brief ly and the startu p sound plays if enabled. The lens will extend and the camera is read y to take photos or record video.

18 Recording Photos, Vi deos and Voices Takin g Photos Now that you are familiar with your camera, you are now ready to take your photos. Taking photos with your camera is ver y simple. 1. Power on the camera by pressing th e Power button . 2. Frame the shot usin g the focus bracket on the LCD monito r.
19 Setting the Zoo m Control Using a combination of 5 times optical zoom and 5 time s digital zoom permits zoom pho tography at up to 25 times magnification. While the digital zoo m ca n be a useful feature, the more an image is enlarged (zoomed), the more pixelated (grainier) the image will appear.
20 Using Flash When taking pictures in diffic ult lighting conditions, use t he Flash/Down button to get correct exposure. This function cannot be activated in recording videos or contin uous shooting. To activate Flash: • Press the Flash/Down button on your camera repeatedly until your desired flash mode is displayed on the LCD monitor.
21 Set ting Co ntin uo us S hoo ting This function allows users to s et the continuous shooting mode. It's only available in shooting photos. Press Right button to launch the Continuous Shooting menu opti o ns, and then press Left/Right button t o select the desired optio n.
22 Using the Function Menu Press the Fn/Delete butto n in Record mo de (except Voice Recording) will bri ng up the Function Menu with most common featur es for photos and videos. Press the Fn /Delete button of your camera to laun ch the Function Menu.
23 Photo Size The Photo Size function is used to set the resolutio n before you capture the phot o. Changing the Photo Size affect s the number of photos that can be stored in your memory card. The higher the resolution, the more memory spa ce is required.
24 EV Comp ensation Photos can be captured wit h the overall scen e intentionally made brighter o r darker. These sett ings are use d when a suitable brightness (exposure) cannot otherwise be obta.
25 Meteri ng This sets the metering method for calcula ting the exposure. Icon Item Descript ion Multi The entire area of the screen is meas ur ed, and the exposure is calculated. Center Averages the light met ered from the en tire frame, but gives greater weight to the subject matter at the center.

27 Sett ings of Reco rdin g Vid eos Press Fn/Delete button to e nable video setting menu before recording a video. Video Resolution Size The Video Resolutio n Size functio n appears only in Video Resolution mode. Use this function to adjust the reso lution and quality of movie clips.
28 Using the Recor d Menu If you are in Photo Mode, you can access the Re cord menu simply by pressing the MENU button on your camera. When the menu is displayed, use the 4-way navigation control a nd the OK button t o move through menu selections and apply your desired se ttings.
29 Kids This feature is used to captur e still images of moving kids. Night Scene This feature is used to capture images with nigh t scenery background . Stylish This feat ure is used to capture im ages with over-s at urat ed colors , off-kilter exposure or blurr ing.
30 Love Portra it This feature uses face tracking to a u to detect faces to capture portra its photos without the help of others. When two or more faces are detected, AF is activated and the camera begins a 2 second countdown.
31 Using Intelligent Scene This feature is most useful for novice users t o ca pture great pho tos even without basic knowled ge of photography. Simply frame the shot with the help of I ntelligent.
32 Using Party Mode Let the Party mode on! It can be difficult to get everyone on a party. While you have the whole gang together, take a group or family portrait.
33 Using Auction Mode It ’ s ha r d a n d w a s te s a lo t of t i me to c o mb i ne s e ve r a l photos by software. Select Auctio n mode and choose a pattern, then take a few shots from differe nt an gle. The camera composes a combined ima g e in lower resolution suited to on line posting.

35 Using Love Portrait Want to take a good photo when there ar e just two of you? All you have to do is hold the camera and show your smiles together. When two or more faces are dete cted, AF is activate d and the camera begins a 2 se cond co un tdown.
36 Setting the Self-t imer Your camera fea tures a Self-timer which can be set in the Self-timer functio n in the Record Menu. The Self-timer allo ws you to take photos after a pre-defined delay. While burst lets you take consecutive shots. This function is only available in recording photos.
37 Sett in g Shar pnes s This function allows you to enhance or softe n finer details of your photos. To set Sharpness 1. From the Record menu, select Sharpn ess . 2. Use the 4-way navigation control to move through the selections. 3. Press the OK button to save and apply changes.
38 Setting Contrast This function allows you to adjust the contr a st of your photos. To set Contrast 1. From the Record menu, select Co ntrast . 2. Use the 4-wa y naviga tion cont rol t o move thr ough the selections. 3. Press the OK button to save and apply changes.
39 Setting the Digital Zoom This feature contro ls the digit al zoom mode of your camera. Your camera enlarges an ima g e using t he optical zoom first. When the zoom scale exceeds 5 x, the camera uses digital zoom. To se t Digi t al Zo om 1. From the Record menu, select Dig ital Zoom .
40 Setting Auto Review The Auto Review function lets you view the captured photo right after shooting it. If Auto review is On, the camera w ill display the captu red image for 1 second on the LCD moni tor. To set Auto Review 1. From the Record menu, select Auto Review .
41 Zoom Use this feature to enable/disable the zoom cont rol i n video recording. When this feature is tur ned on, voice during lens zooming would not be recorded. 1. Enable the Zoom under the Record Menu . 2. Use the 4-way n avigation control to move t hrough the selections.
42 Playback You can playback the photos, video and audio clips on the LCD monitor. Viewing in Single Navigation The Single navigation mode displays the phot o one by one on the LCD monitor. To view photos/videos/audio clips, follow the steps below.
43 Thumbnail icons: When you view th e thumbnails, some ima ges may conta in icons. These icons indicate the type of file or recording. Icon Type Description Voice Record Indicates a v oice rec or d ing fil e. File Erro r Indicates an er ror file.
44 Using Video Edit When a video clip is pau sed, press the Fn/Delete but ton to enter Video Edit mode. An Edit Panel displayed in the lower left corner of the screen while the time bar a nd video length display in the bottom of the screen.
45 Playing Voi ce Recordin g 1. Press the Play back button on the came ra. 2. Use the navigation controls to scroll t hrough the saved photos. When viewing a voice recording file, the LCD monitor displays the screen layout of Audio clips . See picture on the ri ght.
46 Delet ing a Photo /Video/ Audi o There are two ways to delete a photo/video/audio: • Usin g the Delete bu tton. • Using Playback Menu Delete sett ings. See "Del ete" on page 46. Using the Delete Button Use the Fn/Delet e button on your cam era to de lete a photo/video/audio clip.
47 To delete a photo/video/audio clip: 1. From the Playback menu, select Delete . 2. The Delete submenu is displayed on the LCD monitor. Available select settings: • Sin gle. Select one file to delete. • Voice Only. Delete only the attached voice memo, not voice clips.
48 7. Press the OK button to delete mar ked files. To delete all files: 1. Select All in the Delete submenu. A confirm a tion messa ge appears. 2. Select Yes . 3. Press the OK button to delete all files. Slide Show The slide show fu nction enables you to playbac k your photos automatica lly in order o ne photo at a time.
49 To protect files: 1. From the Playback menu, select Protect . 2. The Protect submenu is displayed o n the LCD mo nitor. Available select settings: • Single. Select one file to lock/unlock. • Multi . Select multiple files fr om the thumbnail view to lock/unlock.
50 Red-eye Correction The Red-eye Cor rection function is used to reduce red eye in captured photos. This function is only available for photos. Red-eye correction can be app lied to a photo several times, but the quality may gradually deteriorate.
51 Voic e Mem o A maximum of 30 seconds of audio can be recorded as a memo f or captured phot os. To record voice memo: 1. Press the Playbac k button on the camera. 2. Press Left/Right key on the navigation control to scroll and select a photo to attach voice memo to.
52 Art Effect Art Effect function is only applicable to photo s with di fferent artistic effect. Edited pho tos in this function are saved as a new file. To activate Art Effect: 1. Press the Playback button on the camera . 2. Press Left/Right key on the navigation cont rol to scroll and select a photo to edit.
53 Trim The Trim function allows you to trim a photo to another image size. This function is only ava ilable for photos To tri m a phot o: 1. Press the Playback button on the ca mera. 2. Use Left/Right key on the navigation control to scroll and select a photo to trim.
54 Resize Resizes a previously saved photo and only re sizing to a smaller size is available. To resize a photo: 1. Press the Playback button on the ca mera. 2. Use Left/Right key on the navigation c ontrol to scr oll and select a photo to resize.
55 DPOF DPOF is the abbreviation for Digital Print Order Format, whic h allows you to embed printing informatio n on your memory card. You can s e lect the p hot os to be printed and how many prints to make with the DPOF menu in the came ra and insert the m emory card to the card com p atible pri nte r.
56 Using the Setup Menu You can access the Setup menu whether you a r e in R ecord or Playback mode. The Setup menu allows to configure general camera settings. To go to Setup Menu: 1. Press Menu button to launch the Record/Playback Menu. 2. Use Left/Right key on the navigation control to switch the menu tab to Se tup menu.
57 Setti ng LCD Save Enable the LCD S ave function to au tomatically decrease th e LCD brightness to conserve battery power. When the camera is idle for 20 seconds, the LC D darkens. P ress an y button to re sume to normal brightness. • The camera is id le and enters LCD Save mode when no buttons ar e p ressed.
58 Setting File Numbering This function allows you to select the met hod in whic h to assign file numbers to photos. Available settings are: • Series. Assigns number to files in sequence even if the folder is changed. • Reset. The file numbering will sta rt from 000 1 each time the folder is chang ed and "Format" is process ed.
59 Setting Memory Kit This utility formats the internal memory (or memory car d) and erase s all st ored photos and data. Available settings are: • Format. Select to format currently used memory. • Copy to Card. Select to copy all files stored i n the internal memory to the memory c ard.
