Control panel features 1 On : Turns the product on or off. When the product is off, a minimal amount of power is still used. To completely remove power, turn off the product, then unplug the pow er cord. 2 Cancel : Stops the current oper ation. 3 Start Copy Black : Starts a black-and-w hite copy job.

5. Select the appropriate options for your pri nt job by usi ng the features a vailable in the Advanced , Printing Shortcuts , Features , and Color tabs. TIP: You can easily sel ect the appropri ate options for your print job by choosing one of the predefi ned print tasks on the Printing Shortcuts tab.
7. In the Resizin g Options area, click the appropriat e paper size from the Size list . If the paper size and pa per type are not compatible, the pr oduct software displays a n alert and allows you t o select a different type or size. 8. In the Basi c Options area, select a high print quality, such as Best , from the Print Quality drop -down list.
8. In the Pape r Type drop-down list, click More , and then select t he appropriate paper type. NOTE: You cannot print a borderless image if the pap er type is set to Plain paper or to a type of paper other than a photo p aper. 9. Select the Border less pri nting check box if it is not already checked.

Print postcards 1. Slide the paper guide all the way to the left. 2. Place the cards in the right si de of the tray. The side to be prin ted on should face down and the sho rt edge should point tow ard the printer. 3. Push the cards into th e printer unti l they stop.

View the print resolution The printer software displ ays the print resolution in dots per inch (dpi). The dpi varies according to the paper typ e and print quality that you select in th e printer software. To view th e print resolution 1. Make sure you have pa per loaded in the input tra y.
5. In the Printing Shortcuts list, click a pr inting shortcut. The print sett ings for the selected printi ng shortcut are displa yed. 6. Change the p rint settings to those you want in the new pri nting shor tcut. 7. Click Save as and type a name for the new printing shortc ut, and then click Save .

Find the cartridg e number 1. In the HP So lution Cen ter, click Settings , point to Print Settings , and then cl ick Printer Toolbo x . NOTE: You can also open t he Printer Toolbox from the Print Pro perties d ialog box. In the Prin t Properties dialog box , click the Fe atures tab, and then click the Printer Services button.
CAUTION: Clean print cartridges only when necessary. Unnecessary cle aning wastes ink and shortens th e life of the cartridge. To clean the print cartr idges 1. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings . In the Print Settings area, click Printer Toolbox .

Placing a call Call HP support while yo u are in front of the computer and t he product. Be prepared to provide the following inform ation: • Product name (HP Deskjet F2400 All-in-One series) • Se.
CAUTION: Do not connect the USB cable t o the computer until prompt ed by the software instal lation screen. This section contai ns the following topics: • The product will not turn on • After set.
• Test the power out let to make sure it is working. Plug in an appliance that yo u know works, and see if th e appliance has power. If not , then there might be a problem w ith the power o utlet. • If you plugged the product into a switch ed outlet, make sure the outlet is switched on.
Cause: You sent the prin t job to the default prin ter, but this product was not the default printer. If this di d not solve the issue, try the next solution. Step 3: Check the c onnection between the product an d computer Solution: Check the conn ection between the product and computer.
6. Insert the product CD-RO M into your computer’s CD-ROM drive and then start the Setup program. NOTE: If the Setup program does no t appear, locate the setup.exe file on the CD-ROM drive an d double-click it. Step 2: Load the stack of p aper correctly Solution: Remove the stack of paper from the input tray, reload the paper, and then slide the paper w idth guide inward until it st ops at the edge of the pape r. Check printer se ttings Try the follow ing solutions. • Step 1: Check the print settings • Step 2: Verify the paper si ze setting • Step 3: Check the print er margins Step 1: Check the prin t settings Solution: Check the print settings. • Check the pri nt settings to see if the color setti ngs ar e incorrect.
Make sure the margin setti ngs for the document do not exceed the prin table area of the product. To check your m argin settings 1. Preview your prin t job before sending it to the product. In most software a pplications, click the Fil e menu, and then click Print Preview .

Flashing lights The lights on th e product flash in special se quences to inform you about various error conditions. Re fer to the following t able for information on solving your error condit ion based on which li ghts are on or flashing on the product.

9 Stop the current job To stop a print job from the HP All-in-One ▲ Press Ca ncel on the control panel. If the print job does not stop, press Cancel again.
