2 CERT AIN MODELS ARE EQUIPPED WITH SIDE PLUMBING CONNECTIONS FOR SP ACE HEA TING . THE HOT AND COLD FITTING ASSEMBLIES (P ART #900126-2) CAN BE ORDERED THROUGH THE MANUFACTURER. REPLACEMENT P ARTS Replacement parts may be ordered through authorized servicers or distributors.
3 GENERAL SAFETY INFORMA TION EXTERNAL DAMAGE Do not operate the water heater until it has been fully checked out by a qualified technician, if the water heater: • Has been exposed to fire or damage. • Displays evidence of sooting. • Produces steam or unusually hot water .

5 Make sure that the outside vents on the supply regulators and the safety vent valves are protected against blockage. These are part s of the gas supply system not the heater. V ent blockage may occur during ice storms. IT IS IMPOR T ANT T O GUARD AGAINST CONTROL FOULING FROM CONT AMINANTS IN THE GAS W A YS.
6 FIGURE 4 W ARNING V ent termination must not be within 4 feet of any items such as gas meters, gas valves or other gas regulating equipment. OPTIONAL WIRE GRILL When the water heater vent cap is low enough to be touched accident ally , or is accessible to small children, inst allation of a protective vent cover is recommended.
7 FLUE EXTENSIONS There are three optional extension kits available. Any combination of the three kit s can be chosen; however , only one kit can be used vertically and/or horizont ally , see Figures 10 and 1 1. W ARNING At no time can more than one V ertical and/or one Horizontal V ent Kit be used.
8 VERTICAL (EXTENSION KIT) HEIGHT It is simple to determine which kit is needed for vertical height. T ake the total height (to the top of the flue) required and comparing that to “F DIMENSION” in T ABLE 1, it can be determined which kit needs to be used vertically .
9 W A TER HEA TER A TTITUDE There is a certain amount of variation permissible with regard to the direction the water heater faces. S tanding in front of the water heater (gas control facing you), set the 3” diameter elbow (slotted end) on the flue.
10 8. Slide the vent collar (to be installed later) over the 6” vent elbow . FIGURE 22 9. Place the water heater at the opening in the wall, at the predetermined clearance.
11 16. Go back indoors to attach inside collar to the inside wall. Place the collar against the wall. Secure to wall by using 4 long sheet metal screws. FIGURE 30 NOTE: Screws are supplied; however , substitution may be necessary depending on the interior wall material.
12 4. Using the tube of sealant supplied, run an ample amount around the oval flare of the jacket. FIGURE 37 5. Place the 6” vent section over the 3” flue section. Subtract 3/4” from the X dimension used earlier and this gives the length of the 6” vent extension.
13 12. Place the water heater at the opening in the wall, at the predetermined clearance. FIGURE 45 13 . Move outdoors with all the remaining vent parts.

15 9. Slide the 6” telescoping vent section apart to reveal the beads. NOTE: The section of 6” pipe with beads will connect to the elbow . Using the caulking supplied, fill the beads. FIGURE 62 10. Insert the 6” telescoping vent section into the wall.

20 W ARNING If you do not follow these instructions exactly , a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. A . This appliance has a pilot which is lit by a piezo-electric spark gas ignition system. Do not remove the access doors of the appliance and try to light the pilot by hand.
21 It is recommended that lower water temperatures be used to avoid the risk of scalding. It is further recommended, in all cases, that the water temperature dial, Figure 99, be set for the lowest temperature which satisfies your hot water needs. This will also provide the most energy efficient operation of the water heater .
