6 69-1713 Operate Y our Thermost at Set System Setting Press the System button to select Heat, Off, Cool or Auto: Heat —Thermostat controls the heating syste m. Off —Both the heating and c ooling systems are off. Cool —Thermostat controls the co oling system.
69-1713 7 Operate Y our Thermost at (Cont) Set Fan Setting Press the Fan button to select Auto or On: Auto —Normal setting for most homes. The fan runs only when the heatin g or cooling system is on. On —The fan runs continuously . Use this setting for improved air circulation or for more efficient air cleaning.
8 69-1713 Operate Y our Thermost at (Cont) Change Temperature Setting Press the Up or Down button to select the desired temperature setting. The first press of the Up or Down button turns on the backlight. T he second press of the Up or Down button changes the temperature setti ng.
69-1713 9 Replace Batteries AA alkaline batt eries. 1. When the Replace Battery indicator is flashing , replace batteries promptly with two fresh AAA alkaline batteries. The thermostat does not lose any settings when th e batteries are replaced; all setting s are permanently stored in memory .

69-1713 13 Review Battery T ips 1. Replace the batteries as soon as Replace Battery flash es in the display . The Replace Battery indicator flashes in the display two months before the batteries run down co mpletely . 2. Always use fresh AAA alkaline batte ries.
14 69-1713 Built-in Compre ssor Protection The TH51 10D Thermostat has built-in compressor protection (minimum-off timer) that prevent s the compressor from restarting too early after a shutdown. The minimum-off timer is activated after the compressor turns off.
69-1713 15 Auto Changeover Auto Changeover is a featur e used in climates where both air conditioning and heat ing are used on the same day . The Auto setting appears only if the thermostat is set up for Auto Changeover by your heating and air conditioning dealer .

69-1713 17 Auto Changeover (Cont) 2. Press the Up or Down bu tton to raise or lower the cool temper ature setti ng. 3. Press the Select Heat/Cool button to display the Heat temperature sett ing.
18 69-1713 Auto Changeover (Cont) 4. Press the Up or Down bu tton to raise or lower the heat temperature setting. 5. “Select Heat/Cool” stops flashing six seconds after the last button press. The thermostat then returns to displaying “Auto” for the System setting.

20 69-1713 T roubleshooting T ip s If . . . Then . . . Display is blank. • Check circuit breaker to be sure it is not tripped. • Check power switch at heating and/or cooling system to be sure it is on. • Check furnace door to be sure it is closed securely .
69-1713 21 Cooling system does not turn on. • Set the system to Cool by pressing the System button. • Check the cool temperature setti ng to be sure it is set belo w room temperatu re and “Cool On” shows solidly in the display . • Check the circuit breake r to be sure it is not tripped.
22 69-1713 “Cool On” is not shown in the display . Set System setting to Cool and set the temperature setting below the room temperature. If “Cool On” is shown solidly in the display , but the cooli ng system does not turn on, see “Cooling system does not turn on” in Troubleshooting Tip s.
