Connecting Audio Note It is your responsibility to determine if local law s and regulations permit recording audio.

Select CVBS (SVHS) for a spot monitor or VGA for an RGB monitor. Make sure you set the CV BS (SVHS) or VG A selector switch before turning on the DVR .

Installation Rev 3.01 13 Document 900.0315 10/05 ARI (Alarm Reset In) An external signal to the Alarm Reset In (A RI) can be used to reset both the Alarm Out signal and the DVR internal buzzer. Mechanic al or electrical switches can be wired to the ARI (Alarm In) and GND (G round) connec tors.

Configuration Rev 3.01 18 Document 900.0315 10/05 Many of the buttons have multiple functions. Table 3-1 describes each button and control. Take a few minutes to review the de scriptions. You will use these to ini tially set up your DVR and for daily operations.
Configuration Rev 3.01 19 Document 900.0315 10/05 PTZ buttons • Opens a Pan/Tilt/Zoom screen that allows you to control properly configured PTZ cameras. • In PTZ mode, pressing PTZ enters the Digital Zoom mode. Press PT Z again in Digital Zoom mode to return to Live Monitoring mode.
Configuration Rev 3.01 20 Document 900.0315 10/05 Turning on the Power Connect the power cord to the DVR to turn on the DVR. The DVR takes approximately 60 seconds to initialize. Shuttle Ring The Shuttle Ring only functions in Play back mode. The Shuttle Ring is spring loaded.
Configuration Rev 3.01 21 Document 900.0315 10/05 Initial Unit Setup Before using your DVR for the first time, you should establish the initial settin gs. This includes items such as time and date, displa y language, camera, audio, remote control, record mode, network and password.

Pressin g # lets you make your selections. 1. Highlight the box beside Quick Setup and then press # to tog gle between On and Off.

When you select Covert 2 , the DVR displays only camera title on the covert video. 2. To assign titles to each camera, highlight the camera title un der the Title heading and then press # .

Use the Alarm In screen to configure each alarm input. Highlight Alarm In in the Device menu ( MENU ➤ Device ➤ Alarm-In ) and then press # .

There are five settings from 1 to 5 — 1 i s the least sensitive and 5 is the most sen sitive. You can define the area of the image where you want to detect motion; for example, a doorway.

Event indicates the Alarm Out is only active when there is an Event during the scheduled time. Audio Setup Screen Use the Audio Setup screen to set the DVR to re cord audio when it is recording video.

Highlight RS232/RS485 in the Device menu ( MENU ➤ Device ➤ RS232/RS485 ) and then press # .

The maximum panic recording speed is 30 images per second (25 ips for PAL) when the resolution is set to Standard.

Use the Pre- Event Record Setup screen ( MENU ➤ Record ➤ Pre-Event Record ) to define how to handle pre-event recording.

If you set the DNS Server, the domain name of the DVRNS server instead of the IP address can be used during the DVRNS Server setup.

You can also set it up to dial a pager with a numeric message when an event occurs if you have a modem connected to the DVR.

Configuration Rev 3.01 72 Document 900.0315 10/05 Clip Copy Use the Clip Copy screen to copy video to an internal CD-RW driv e, or external USB hard disk drive, or USB flash drive. The copi ed clip images can be viewed on computers running Microsoft Windows 98 , ME, 2000 or XP.

Note We recommend that you do not copy files larger than 2 GB.
Configuration Rev 3.01 74 Document 900.0315 10/05 Caution Do not use poor quality CD-R or CD -RW discs or ones that have been scratched or damaged in any way. Caution Do not disconnect the USB cable or the power from the external drive while copying video clips.
