PREPARATION F OR USE 25 CONNECTING TO OUTPUT JACKS If y our TV has A/V input j acks, you may connect your VCR's A UDIO/VIDEO OUTPUT jacks to the audio/v ideo input jacks on back of your TV. Direct audio/video connections usually result in a better picture and sound quality for tape playback.

NOTES: • Channel memory programming is NOT needed w hen connected to a cable box or satellite box as in Fig 4 on page 11 or Fig 5 on page 12.

SELECTING THE LA NGUA GE If you want to chang e the language on the TV screen, follow the steps below: 1) Press the MEN U button until the IN ITIALIZE menu appears.
PLAYBACK 37 PLA YB ACK NORMA L PLAYBA CK • Be sure to check that the POW ER and the VCR/TV indicators are both on. • Turn on the TV and set the TV to channel 3 or 4. Now set the CH 3 /CH4 sw itch on the back of the VCR to match the channel selected on the TV.
PLAYBACK 38 This feature is v ery useful in f inding or skipping over a part icular scene on a tape. In this mode, the sound w ill be muted. 1) You may view a video tape at a high speed in eit her a forw ard or reverse direction by pressing the F.FWD or REW button.
PLAYBACK 39 SLOW MOTION Press the SLOW button to reduce the playback speed. The VCR mutes the sound during sl ow motion. You can control the speed by pressing the F.FW D button (faster) or the REW button (slower ). Press the PLAY button to r eturn to normal pl ayback.
PLAYBACK 40 4 Begin recor ding or playback Press the RECOR D or PLAY button. Press the STOP button when recor ding or playback i s completed. 5 To activate the Counter Memory Press the REW (or F.FW D) button. T he VCR will stop automatically w hen the counter has returned to approx imately 0:00:00.

Now set the CH 3 /CH4 sw itch on the back of the VCR to match the channel selected on the TV.
SPECIAL PLAYBACK 42 • The COUNTER MEM ORY button does not function if the Auto Repeat mode is set to [ON]. In this case, set the Auto Repeat mode to [OFF]. • To stop playback, press the STOP button. TO EXIT THE A UTO REPEA T MODE Repeat steps [1] to [2].
SPECIAL PLAYBACK 43 4 Select "RENTAL" to [ON] Press the F.FW D/ button so that "RENTAL ON" appears. • Once you select the R ental mode, it stay s in ef fect even after you turn off the VCR. • To stop playback, press the STOP button.
SPECIAL PLAYBACK 44 • The time gap betw een making the index marks on the tape shoul d be greater than 1 minute for SP recordi ng, 2 minutes for LP recor ding and 3 minutes for SLP recording . Example: You are w atching progr am number 4 and w ant to f ast forward to pr ogram number 7.
SPECIAL PLAYBACK 45 Press REW or F.FW D button. The VCR begi ns rewi nding or fast fo rw arding to the beginni ng of desired prog ram. Note: Every ti me an index si gnal is skipped, the number i n the progr am indicator decreases by one. 5 After Index Search W hen the preset program is reached, the VCR will start playback automatically.

RECORDING 48 RECORDING • Please refer to the connection y ou are using, through pages 10,11, or 12 on "A NTENNA/CA BLE CONNECTIONS" before continuing. • Be sure to check that the POW ER and the VCR/TV indicators are both on. • Turn on the TV and set the TV to channel 3 or 4.
RECORDING 49 SP NOTE: If any menu is activated on the TV screen, the REC button on the r emote control does not function. Press the RESET/EXIT button to clear the menu. Then, press the REC button. 4 Stop recording Press STOP button when recor ding is completed.

RECORDING 52 (SP/SLP). 3 Begin IRT Press REC/IRT button on the VCR as many times as needed. The recording length will be determined by the number of times y ou press REC/IR T button. Each additional push will increase the recording time by 30 minutes.
TIMER RECORDING 53 TIMER RECORDING A UTOMATIC TIMER RECORDING You may set the VCR to start and end a r ecording whil e you are away . You can set seven prog rams to record on specific days, dai ly or weekly w ithin a 1 year peri od.
