AUTO SET UP AUTO SET UP Setting the channel automatically 1 Plug in at the po w er supply outlet af t er co m pletely connecting a ll ca bles. P lea se refer to page 1 0 to 16 on "HOOKUP" secti ons. The VCR will be in the standby mode at this stage .

PRE-TUNING T HE VCR TUNE R 5 Press the cursor button, and then press the ENTER but t o n. The VCR will autom atically select CATV1 or ANT and sto re channels received in y our area. It takes about 2 - 3 m inu tes. If CA TV1 doesn't g ive y ou the ch annels you expect, press th e cursor button to select CA TV2 at step 4 .

CABLE BOX SETUP ON: T he scre en bec ome s blue a nd mute s sound w hen a c hannel w ithout a broadc ast s ignal on the VCR or a channel on whic h broadca sting ha s finis hed. If the s ignal is too s trong, this f unction m ay not operate even if y ou specif y ON.
CABLE BOX SETUP 6 Press the GUIDE button . The m ain on -screen m enu will appear on th e TV screen . 7 Press the cursor button to select SETUP option, and th en press the ENTER. Note: Refer to the cable box own er's m anual to identify the cable box output chan nel (usually 3 or 4).
CABLE BOX SETUP The cable box output channe l has now been set. How ever, the VC R does n ot control y our cable box. Turn on the cable box and leave it tun ed to the channel y ou w ant to record before the recording is schedu led to begi n.
PLAYBACK PLAYBACK To playback a recorded tape 1 Turn on the TV and select the vid eo channel (3 or 4). Or, if y ou are hooked u p w ith an au dio/video cable, set the TV to A UX or VIDEO. 2 Insert a recorded tape. The power com es on autom atically . When a cassette w ithout its safety tab is inserted, playback starts autom atically .
PLAYBACK Rewi nding the tape When the video cassette reaches the end of the ta pe, the VCR will stop and automatically rewind the tape. If you press the POWER button while the tape is rewinding , the po wer will no t shut off until the tape ha s been co m pletely rewound.
SPECIAL PLAYBACK EFFEC TS Note: During super rew ind/fast- forw ard, there w ill be an interval of 5 seconds betw een the tim e the STOP button is pressed and the tape actually stops. This is designed to protect the tape. T o stop the tape earlier, press the R EW or F.
SPECIAL PLAYBACK EFFEC TS Press the PAUSE button on the remote control to still the tape during play . The picture will "freeze". You m ay see som e mi nor noise or interference on th e screen. This is norm al. To resum e play , press th e PLA Y but ton or PA USE but ton agai n.
Slow motion Slow motion 1 Press the PL AY button. 2 Press the S LOW button to s low the playback speed . 3 Press the PLAY button t o return to play ba ck at norm al speed.
