8 VIDEO CASSETTE TAPE INFORMATION This VCR will operate w ith any cassette that has the VHS mark. For best results, w e recommend th e use of high -quality tapes.

If y o u decide to use a univ ersal remote control w ith this unit, pleas e be aware that the code n um ber given may not operate this unit.

15 SET UP FOR USE You can program the tuner to scan only the ch annels y ou receive in y our area. You must use the remote control for th is procedure. 17 CLOCK SET UP Set the clock accurately for proper autom atic timer recording. • If th e P ublic Broadcasting Station (PB S) is available in your area, the VCR set the clock au tomatically b y using it at " CHANN E L SET UP" on p age 1 4.
18 4 Select the PBS channel First, press the PLAY/ or STOP / b utton to point to "MANUAL". Then, press the F.FWD/ button. Next, pres s the num ber buttons or PLAY/ or STOP/ button to select the PB S channel.

22 DAYLIGHT-SAVINGS TIME Select this feature and the VCR's clock automatica lly w ill advance one hour in April, then re verse one hour in October. Follow the ste p s below when y ou want to use this fe ature even if y ou set the AUT O CLOCK to ON.

25 MTS (Multi-Channel Television Sound) SYSTEM You can record or listen to a program in MTS stereo, by using a st ereo amplifier and speak ers. Connec t your VCR to your stere o ampli fi e r using the follo wing diagra m.
26 SELECTING THE MTS SYSTEM • Be sure to check t hat th e "PWR" an d "VCR" in dicato rs are bo t h on . • T urn on the TV and set the TV to channel 3 or 4. Now set the CH3/CH 4 switch on the bac k of the VCR to m atch the chann el selected o n th e TV .
27 PLAYBACK NORMAL PLAYBACK • Be sure to check that the "PWR." and the "VCR" indicators are bo th on. • Turn on the TV and set the T V to channel 3 or 4. Now set the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of the VCR to match the channel selected on the TV.
28 TRACKING ADJUSTMENT • T racking adjustm ent will be set autom atically (D ig ital T rack ing f unction) w hen you star t play back. Howe ver when pla ying pre- recorde d tapes or tapes r ecorded on units other than y our own, noise lines (black a nd white streaks) may appear on th e p layback pictu r e.
29 SPECIAL PLAYBACK • Use the rem ote control for the follow ing procedure. • Be sure to check t h at the "P WR." and the "V CR" indi cators are b oth o n. • T urn on the TV and set the TV channel to 3 or 4. Now set the CH3/CH 4 switch on the bac k of the VCR to m atch the chann el selected o n th e TV .
30 INDEX SEARCH This feature prov ides a m ethod of in dexing a recordings starting poin t so that it can be easily returned to in either f ast forw ard or rewind m ode. • The index m ark will be made autom atically wh en the REC button is pressed. It will also be marked at the start i ng poi nt of T imer rec ord ing and I RT .
31 TO VIEW AT NORMAL SPEED Press the PLAY button. The Quick-Find is cancelled. • A v id eo cassette mu st be insert in the VCR for this f unction to work. • This fun ctio n w ill not op erate in the recording m od e. • When y ou want to cancel th e Quick-Fin d while in p r o gress, press the STOP button.

33 SKIPPING UNWANTED SCENES DURI NG RECORDING Press the PAUSE button on the rem o te co ntrol to temporarily stop recording. Press the PAUSE or REC button to resume recording.

35 TIMER RECORDING AUTOMATIC TIMER RECORDING You m ay set the VCR to start and end a recording w hile you are away. You can set seven prog rams to record on specific day s, daily or w eekly w ithin a 1 y ear period.
