Condensing Unit P lacement Space and L ocation Requirements The most important consideration which must be taken into accoun t when deciding upon the location of air- cooled equipment is the pro vision for a supply of ambient air to the c ondenser , and removal of hea ted air from the condensing unit or remote c ondenser area.
Condensing Unit Rigging Rigging Holes F igure 3. Condensing Unit Rigging Adequat e rigging measures must be tak - en to support unit weight and to protect the unit from damage during unloading and placement proc ess. Rigging holes have been pr ovided in legs and under the unit compressor c ompar t- ment frame to assist.
Refrigeration P iping And Line Sizing Refrigeration Piping A nd Line Sizing The system as supplied b y Heatcraft Refrigeration Pr oduc ts, was thoroughly cleaned and deh ydrated at the factory. F oreign matter may enter the sy stem by wa y of the evaporator t o condensing unit piping.
F igure 5. Drain Line Refrigeration P iping Suction Lines NO TE: If the suction line must r ise to the point higher than the suction connection on the evaporator , a suc tion line trap at the outlet of the evaporat or must be provided .
Refrigeration P iping 1. Normally , any straight run of tubing must be supported in at least two locations near each end of the run. Long runs require additional supports.
L eak Detection And Evacuation Leak T esting After all lines are connected, the entir e system must be leak tested. The complete sy stem should be pressurized t o not more than 150 PSIG with refrigeran t and dr y nitrogen. The use of an electronic type of leak detector is highly recommended because of its gr eater sensitivity to small leaks.
F ield Wiring The eld wiring should enter the areas as pr ovided on the unit. The wiring diagram for each unit is located on the inside of the electrical panel door . All eld wiring should be done in a professional manner and in accordanc e with all governing codes .
Refrigeration Charg ing Refrigeration Charging 1. Install a liquid line drier in the refrigerant supply line between the service gauge and the liquid ser vice por t of the receiv er . This extra drier will insure that all refrigerant supplied to the syst em is clean and dr y.
Operational Checkout After the system has been charged and has oper ated for a t least 2 hours at normal operating conditions without an y indication of malfunction, it should be allowed to operat e overnight on automatic controls .
P reven tive Maint enance Routine preventiv e maintenance of any mechanical equipment is critical to its long term reliability . During normal operation all equipment will experience some deteriora tion during its lifetime caused by w ear and evironmental inuences.
