CHECKING COMPRESSOR EFFICIENCY The reason for compressor inef f iciency is n ormally due to broken or damaged suction an d/or discharge valves, reducing the ab ility of the compressor to pump refrigerant ga s. This condition can be checked as follows: 1.
CHECKING THE INTERNAL OVERLOAD (se e Figure 4. ) 1. With no power to unit, remove the leads from the compressor ter mina ls. 2. Using an ohmmeter , test continuity betw een terminals C-S and C-R. If not continuous, the compr essor overload is open and the compressor must be rep laced.
