1. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions. 2. Use the treadmill only as described. 3. Place the treadmill on a level surface, with at least eight feet of clearance behind it and two feet on each side.
4 The decals shown here have been placed on the treadmill. If a decal is missing, or if it is illegible, call the toll-free tele- phone number on the front cover of this manual and order a free replacement decal. Apply the decal in the location shown.
5 T hank you for selecting the revolutionary HealthRider ® P RO H450i treadmill. The PRO H450i treadmill offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective.
1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its left side as shown. Partially fold the Frame (26) so that the treadmill is more stable. Do not fully fold the Frame until the treadmill is completely assembled.
7 2. Slide a Front Endcap (80) onto the Base (81). Partially tighten a Endcap Screw (79) into the F ront Endcap and the base. S lide a Wheel Housing (86) onto the Base (81). Attach the Wheel Housing with a 1" Tek Screw (77) and a Base Pad (89) with a 1 1/4” Tek Screw (108) as shown.
8 5. With the help of a second person, carefully raise the Left Upright (70) and the Right Upright (not s hown) to a vertical position. R emove the knob from the pin. Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin. (Note: If there are two collars, place one on each side of the spring.
9 8. While a second person holds the console as- sembly near the Pulse Bar (66), connect the G round Wire (107) on the Pulse Bar to the ground wire from the console assembly. C onnec t the wire from the console assembly to the Upright Wire (75). Make sure to connect t he connectors properly (see the inset draw- ing).
10 12. See the inset drawing. Push the Uprights (70, 76) sideways so that the treadmill Frame (26) is centered between the Uprights. Firmly tighten the Upright Bolts (84, 85) on each side of the treadmill.
1 1 1. Remove the key from the console and unplug t he power cord. Remove the 3/4" Screw (23) and the Access Door (100) from the back of the Console Base (98). 2. Connect the wire on the receiver (A) to the indi- cated wire extending from the Console Base (98).
OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
13 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the t ouch of a button.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER Plug in the power cord (see page 12). Locate the reset /off c ircuit breaker near the power cord. Make s ure that the circuit breaker is in the reset position. Stand on the foot rails of the treadmill. Find the clip attached to the key (see the drawing on page 13) and slide the clip onto the waistband of your cloth es.
15 Follow your progress with the display. When the manual mode is se- l ected, the lower part of the display will show a 1/4-mile track. As you walk or run, the indicators around the track will appear in succession until the entire track appears. The track will then disappear and the indicators will again begin to appear in succession.
16 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key fully into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 14. Enter your weight if desired. See step 2 on page 14. Select one of the preset programs. To select one of the preset pro- grams, press the P5, P6, P7, or P8 button.
17 Follow your progress with the display. See step 6 on page 15. Measure your heart rate if desired. S ee step 7 on page 15. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 8 on page 15. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console. When the program has ended, make sure that the incline of the treadmill is at the lowest set- ting.
18 When only three seconds remain in the first seg- ment of t he pr ogram, both the Current Segment c olumn and the column to the right will flash and a series of tones will sound. If the speed and/or in- c line of the treadmill is about to change, the speed setting and/or the incline setting will flash in the display to alert you.
19 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE T he console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has b een operated and the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved.
20 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE B efore folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per- manently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
21 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down- ward until the catch is past the latch pin. 2. Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands , and lower it to the floor.
22 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If you need further assistance, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
With the help of a second person, carefully raise the Uprights (70, 76) as shown. Caref ully pi vot th e Hood ( 28) off. L ocate the Reed Switch (39) and the Magnet (6) on the left side of the Pulley (7). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
24 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician.
25 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
