TERMINOLOGY 5 ENGLISH T erminology Since they share some of the characteristics and technology of CD players , many of the terms and operational concepts used in a DVD player are similar to what you may be familiar with from CD players and changers , or older video disc formats such as Laser Disc.

12 REMO TE CONTROL Remote Control 0 P ower On/Source Selector Buttons: Pressing one of these buttons will perform three actions at the same time . First, if the HS System is not turned on, this will power up the unit. Next, it will select the source shown on the button as the input to the HS System.

When a DVD disc is in pause or freeze frame mode , you may move slowly forward or backward through the progr am being played at one of four speeds by pressing the SEARCH Buttons HJ on the remote .
18 SY STEM SETUP System Setup System Defaults T he final step of the installation is to establish the system’ s defaults. It is helpful to take a few minutes to famili arize yourself with these settings , as they may require change before the first use and later from time to time .

SY STEM SETUP 21 ENGLISH System Setup time , place the microphone close to the speak er to be measured, at a distance of about 1 meter . In addition, the top of the microphone should be pointed towards the speak er , rather than point- ing up as was done for the F ar Field tests.
22 SY STEM SETUP normal for surround speak ers to operate only occasionally . Artificially increasing the volume to the rear speak ers may destroy the illusion of an enveloping sound field that duplicates the way you hear sound in a movie theater or concert hall.
TEST SCREEN 23 ENGLISH T est Scr een T est Screen When you activate the T est Screen via the OSD you can activate a still image to test all settings and the video performance of your TV . Please note that the test screen is only available in Standard Definition mode , that is with one of the analog video outputs 0123 connected.
24 PLA YER/RADIO MENU Player/Radio Menu Using the Status Bar Menu T he on-screen Status Bar contains many playback features . To see the Status Banner Menu, press ST ATUS D on the remote control while a disc is playing. Use the ARROW 9 buttons on the remote to move through the different features in the Status Bar .

Note: The stations can be preset auto - matically or manually .

To learn or transfer codes from an IR remote to the HS’ s remote , follow these steps: 1.

DVD LANGU AGE CODES 31 ENGLISH D VD Language Codes T he availability of specific languages for the main audio tr ack or subtitles is dependent on the choices made by a disc’ s producer . Y ou should always consult the disc’ s jacket for information on languages for any disc.
