Every effor t has been expended to ensure that inf or mation and instructions in the manual are both accurate and cur- rent.

General The installer must ensure that the home standby gen- erator has been proper ly installed. The system must be inspected carefully f ollowing installation. All appli- cable codes, standards and regulations per taining to such installations must be strictly complied with.

P art 1 meaSurinG current CLAMP-ON: T o read the current flow , in AMPERES, a clamp-on ammeter may be used. This type of meter indicates current flow through a conductor by measur ing the strength of the magnetic field around that conductor .

AC GENERA T ORS sEctioN 2.4 Dia GNostic tEsts PROCEDURE: 1. Consult the owner’ s manual of the meter being used f or directions on measuring capacitance. Figure 7 shows a typical meter and how to chec k capacitance. 2. Connect the meter leads directly across the ter minals of the capacitor .
2 . T esting for a “grounded” condition: Any resistance reading indicated the winding is grounded. 3. T esting for a “shor ted” condition: Any resistance reading indicated the winding is shor ted. 4. If stator tests good and wire continuity tests good, refer back to flo w char t.

General The “W/V -T ype” transfer switch is rated 100 amps at 250 volts maximum. It is av ailable in 2-pole configura- tion only and, f or that reason, is usable with 1-phase systems only . T ransf er s witches do not hav e an intelligence sys - tem of their own.

4. Using jumper wires, connect the positive (+) post of a 12 volt batter y to relay T er minal “A” and the negative (-) batter y post to Relay T er minal “B”. The relay should energize and the V OM should read CONTINUITY . 5. Now , connect the VOM test leads across Relay T er minals 1 and 7.
