■ Do not clean the door gasket . The door gasket is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or move the gasket . ■ Clean only par ts listed in this Owner ’s Manual.
5 Use proper pan size–select cookware having flat bott oms large enough to cover the surface unit heating element . The use of undersized cookware will expose a portion of the sur face unit to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship of cookware to sur face unit will also improve eff iciency .

The cooktop can be scratched with items such as sharp instruments, rings or other jewelry and rivets on clothing. ■ Large scratches or impacts to glass doors or cooktops can lead to broken or shattered glass.

About the radiant surface units… The radiant cooktop features heating units beneath a smooth glass surface. NO TE: A slight odor is normal when a new cooktop is used for the f irst time. It is caused by the heating of new parts and insulating materials and will disappear in a shor t time.
9 Selecting types of cookware. ge. com The following information will help you choose cookware which will give good performance on glass cooktops . Stainless Steel: recommended Aluminum: heavy weight recommended Good conductivity. Aluminum residues sometimes appear as scratches on the cooktop, but can be removed if cleaned immediately.

Preheat the oven if the recipe calls for it . T o preheat , set the oven at the correct temperature. Preheating is necessary for good results when baking cakes, cookies, pastry and breads. For ovens without a preheat indicator light or tone, preheat 10 minutes .

For the first self-clean cycle, we recommend venting your kitchen with an open window or using a ventilation fan or hood. Remove the shelves, any broiler pan, broiler grid, all cookware and any aluminum foil from the oven. The oven shelves can be self-cleaned, but they will darken, lose their luster and become hard to slide.
25 The oven door must be closed and all controls set correctly for the cycle to work properly. After a Clean Cycle Y ou cannot set the oven for cooking until the oven is cool enough for the door to be unlatched. Y ou may notice some white ash in the oven.

Do not lif t the door by the handle. Make sure the oven is completely cool . T o remove the door, open it to the special stop position.
CAUTION: Before replacing your oven light bulb, turn the oven light of f and disconnect the electrical power to the range at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel. Be sure to let the light cover and bulb cool completely. T o remove the cover : Hold a hand under the cover so it doesn’t fall when released.

Tilt up the front and remove it . T o replace the storage drawer : Insert glides at the back of the drawer beyond the stop on range glides.

These cords may be provided with ring terminals on wire and a strain relief device.
37 Installation Instructions P OWER CORD AND STRAIN RELIEF INST ALL A TION Remove the wire cover (on the lower back of the range) by removing two (2) screws using a 1/4” nut driver . Do not discard these screws. Remove the knockout ring (1 3 ⁄ 8 ″ ) located on bracket directly below the terminal block .

The power leads must be connected to the lower left and the lower right terminals of the terminal block .

LEVEL THE RANGE (CONT .) On all warming drawer models, the rear leveling legs must be adjusted prior to moving the range into position. They can be adjusted from the bottom at the back of the range. Use an open-end or adjustable wrench to adjust the leveling legs until the range is level.
