Each slot is assigned a different driv e letter (for ex ample, the E: and F: drives) so data can be transferred from one media type to a nother . 68 www .gat eway . com A dding or replacing memor y Y our notebook uses memory modu les called SO-DIMMs (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules). The modules are available in various capacitie s and any module can be placed in the slot. Use only memor y modules designed for your Gateway no tebook for upgrading your memory .
69 www .gateway .com 7 Pull the me mory modu le out of the slot. 8 Hold the new or rep lacement module at a 30-degree angle and press it into the empty memory slot . This module is keye d so it can only be inserted in one direction. If the module does no t fit, make sure that the notc h in the module lines up with the tab in th e memory bay .
70 www .gat eway . com Replacing the hard driv e ki t If you would like more hard drive capacity , you can replace your original drive wi th a highe r-cap acity dri ve. T o replace the hard drive kit: 1 Back up any data you want to tra nsfer to the new hard drive.

Viruses can damage data or cause your computer to ma lfunction. Some viruses go undetected for a period of time be cause they a re activated o n a certain date.

79 www .gateway .com T o remove a virus: 1 If Norton AntiVirus finds a virus, follow all on-screen instruc tions to remove the virus . 2 T urn off your computer and leave it off for at least 30 seconds. 3 T urn on your computer and rescan for the virus.

Many printers have an online/offline bu tton that you may n eed to press. ■ Make sure that the power cable is plugged into an AC power source. The printer is on but will n ot print ■ Check the cable between the printer and your notebook.
