11 Chapter 2: Getting Star ted T o use your juke box, yo u need t o: 1 Charge the battery 2 Install and set up software o n your computer Charging the bat tery Fully charg e the battery for three hours before using yo ur jukebox for the first ti me. H owever , it is not necessary to fully charg e the battery each time.
12 T o charge t he batt ery: 1 Connect the USB combo cable to the A C power adapter , then plug the p ower ad apter in to an AC po wer o utle t. If the power icon is .
13 - OR - Connect the USB combo cable to th e c omputer . 2 Plug the combo cable i nto the jukebox. Make sure t hat the top of the plug (the si de with the arr ows) is facing the same way as the front of the jukebo x.
14 3 If you are chargin g your jukebox from the computer’ s USB cable, turn y o u r j u k e b o x o f f . I f y o u r j u k e b o x i s o n , i t c a n n o t c h a r g e f r o m t h e computer’s USB cable. If the jukebox is on, the power cord icon appe ars in the upper right corner of the display .
15 T urning on your jukebo x T o turn on your j ukebo x: ■ Press the power button. The jukebox turn s on, and the Main Menu opens after a few seconds. T o turn off yo ur jukebox: ■ Press and hold the powe r button until the displa y turns off (about two seconds).
16 Plugging in the headphones Y o u c a n p l u g h e a d p h o n e s o r s p e a k e r s i n t o y o u r j u k e b o x . T o plug in he adphones or speaker s : ■ Plug the headphone or speaker plug into the headphone jack on the top o f your ju kebo x.

19 Loc king control b uttons Y ou can lock your ju kebo x so it s butto ns are not ac cidentally pr es sed. T o lock all ju kebox buttons: ■ Move the contro l lock to the Locked position (where red is showin g). When the buttons are loc ked, a lock icon appears on the s creen.

27 Viewing the No w Pla y ing screen After moving within menus, you can quic kly return to the Now Playing screen from any screen. T o return to the Now Playing screen: 1 Press . Th e options me nu opens. 2 Press or to highlight No w Playi ng , then press to open the Now Playi ng screen.
28 Sett ing ad van ced pl a yin g modes Setting the equalizer T o set th e equalizer: 1 Fro m the Main Menu , press or to highligh t Settings , th en press to open the Settings menu. 2 Highlight Au d io , then press to o pen the Audio Setting menu. 3 Highlight EQ , then press to open the EQ Mode menu.
29 3 Highlight Sh uffle , then press to open the Shuffle Mode menu. 4 Highlight ON or OFF , then press to change the setting. T he shuffle mode immediately becomes active. Setting repeat mode T o set the rep eat mode: 1 Fro m the Main Menu , p ress or to highlight Settings , th en press to open the Settings menu.
30 Disabling e xpired musi c messages If you use a music service wher e music can be p layed for a l imit ed amount of time ( such as Napster T o Go), the mu sic will eventually bec ome disabled on your jukebox. When you try to play a disabled track on your ju kebox, you get the message “T o play t his track, you must sync your device to your PC.
31 Viewing the musi c visual ization While music is playing, you can choose to display a visualizatio n of the sound. The vi s uali zation is simi lar to visualizations you may see in W indows Media Player on your co mputer . T o view the mu sic visualiz ation: 1 In the Now Play ing s creen, press to open the o ptions menu.
32 Creating playlists Y ou can create playlists in Windows Media Player or you can create them on the jukebox. Both typ es of playlists are readily a vailable to use o n your jukebox. Creating a jukebo x playlist T o create a playl ist on yo ur jukebo x: 1 Press or to highlight Mu sic , then press to open the Music menu.
33 4 Press o r to highligh t Add to Device Playlist , then press . The Add to D evice P laylis t menu opens, and <New P layl ist > is highlighte d. 5 Press . The Name Playlist menu open s, and <Name Playlist> is highlight ed. 6 Press to highlight the default new playl ist name, then press to select it.
34 Creating a Windows Media Pla yer play list T o create a playlist in Win dows Medi a Player: 1 In W indows Media Player on your computer , click t he Library tab, then click and d rag the files to ad d to your playlist from the libr ar y list to the play list w ind ow on the ri ght.

36 Editin g playlists Adding a t rac k or album to a juke box pla ylist T o add to a playlist : 1 On your jukebox , press or to highlight Music , then press to open the Music menu. 2 Highlight Playlists , Artists , Alb ums , Genres , All Mus ic , or Now Playing , then press to open the submenu.
37 3 Highlight Device Playlists (c r e at e d o n y o u r J u k eb o x ) or PC Play lists (created in W indows Media Player), then press . 4 Highlight the pl aylist contain ing the track you want to delete , then press . 5 Highlight t he track you want to delete, then p ress to open the options m enu.
38 5 Highlight Delete Playlist , then press . T he prompt “Delete Playlist?” appears. 6 Press to delete the song, or press to cancel..
39 Gettin g more musi c Instal ling the so ftware T o copy music and di gital photo fi les to your jukebo x from your computer , you must first install Windows Me dia Player 10 on your computer .
40 Creating files for y our jukebox Before you connect your jukebox to your computer , you should have s ome digital music and photo files ready on the c omputer .
41 3 Click the Rip t a b . T h e l i s t o f t r a c k s o n y o u r m u s i c C D a p p ea r s . I f y o u r computer is connected to the Internet, the album an d tracks are listed by name. 4 Right-clic k the title bar , click To o l s , then click Optio ns .
42 6 Click the Format box, click MP3 or WMA , then click OK . Y ou only ha ve t o s ele ct th e f or mat onc e, so th e ne xt t im e yo u ri p mu si c, yo u do not need to perf orm this step.
43 7 Click the c heck box next t o each trac k you want t o copy , then click Rip Music . The tracks are copied to your computer and are added to your Media Player Library . Buying digita l m usic f iles Y o u can buy digital music from severa l online music services.
44 Napster Wit h the Napster T o Go™ on line music serv ice, you can transfer an u n l i m i t e d a m o u n t o f m u s i c t o y o u r j u k e b o x f o r a l o w m o n t h l y f r e e . F i l l your player , listen to all the music, then fill it up again from yo ur choice of over a mill ion tracks.
45 4 T yp e your member name, a password, and your e-mail ad dress, then t ype you r P ro mo C od e ( fo und on a car d i n y ou r j uk ebo x’ s s hi pp ing box) in the space provided. 5 Click to select the Review T erms & Conditions check box, then click Next Step .
46 7 T ype the member name and password you chose, then click Sign In . 8 Find so me music you wo uld like to download. By clicking the Search boxes in the u pper right corner, you can search by artist, t rack, or album. Y o u c an also c lick Br ow se to access Napster's browse features.
47 Synchr onizing your jukebo x with your computer Preparing files f or synchr onizing Before you move yo ur files to your ju kebox, you should set them up in Med ia Pl ayer s o the y can be au toma tical ly synce d with (copie d to) y our jukebox the next time you connect it to your computer .
48 3 Click Edit Pl aylist . 4 In the Edit Playlist dialog box, right -click the album or artist you want to add to the Sync List , then click Add t o Playlist .
49 Click the al b u m to open its lis t of tr acks, then cli ck each track you want to add to the Sync L ist. 5 Click OK when you have f inished ad ding tracks to the Sync List. Moving files to your jukebo x Y our juk ebox can pla y any WMA, MP3, or W A V file, and any pl aylist, that appears in the Windows Media Player music library .
50 5 Plug the USB combo cable into t he jukebox, then p lug th e other end of the combo cable i nto a USB port on your computer ..
51 Y our computer recognizes the attached player , and “Connected,” appears on the jukebox di splay . When syncing is done, you see a message “Safe to D isconnect.” On your c omput er , the Device Setup dialog box opens. 6 Click Manual or Automatic , then click Finish .
52 7 Click the Sync tab, then click Start Sync . The files are moved to your jukebox. 8 Unplug the USB cable fr om the computer . Y o ur jukebox restarts. I f your j ukebox is finish ed chargin g, you can also unp lug the combo cable from the jukebox.
53 Chapter 4: Vie wing Photos Y our jukebox c an display digital photos saved i n the standard ( baseline or static ) JPG/JPE G forma t. Progressive or interlaced i mages are not viewable. Digital cameras save images in the supp orted standard JPG/JPEG format, and most ph oto editing software saves i n the standard format by d efault.
54 Copying photos to y our jukebo x Copying photos from y our computer Y ou can transfer any digital i m age from your computer to your jukebox. T o copy phot os from your computer to your ju kebox: 1 T urn on your jukebox, t hen connect it to the computer using the USB combo cable.
55 Copying photos from y our digital camera Y o u c a n a l s o t r a n s f e r p h o t o s d i r e c t l y f r o m y o u r c a m e r a t o y o u r j u k e b o x . This feature is convenient for emptying your camera’ s memory card when you have no access t o a computer for permane nt storage.
56 3 T urn on your jukebox, then co nnect the USB camera interface cable to yo ur j ukebo x. Y our jukebox detects the camera and asks to upload all files.
57 4 Press or to highli ght Ye s , then press to start copying the files to your jukebox. Copying may take several mi nutes. 5 After the copying is complete, unplug your jukebox and camera f rom the USB cable. After verifying th at the files have been copied to your jukebox, you can erase them from yo ur camera.
58 Copying photos from y our card reader Y o u c a n t r a n s f e r p h o t o s f r o m a U S B m e m o ry c a r d r e a d e r b y c o n n e c t i n g the reader’ s USB cable to your jukebox’ s USB camera interface cable.
59 4 Press or to hi ghlight Y es , then press to start copying the f iles to your jukebox. Copying may take several mi nutes. 5 After the c opying is comp lete, unplug yo ur jukebox and memory device from t he USB cable. After verifying th at the files have been copied to your jukebox, you can erase them from your memory device.

66 Play ing a picture show A picture show is a quick way of viewing the p hotos in a folder . T o start a pict ure show: 1 Fro m the Main Menu , hi ghlight Pictures , then press to open the Pictures menu. 2 Highlight a photo folder , then press to open the folder .

68 Creating tex t no tes Y ou can even use your jukebox as a reference pad by saving text as a n image. This example uses Microsof t Paint, but you can u se any image editing softwar e.
69 T o c reate a text note: 1 Click Start , All Pr ograms , Accessories , then click Pai nt . Micr osoft Paint opens. 2 Click the square at the lower-right c orner of the drawing area, then drag it until the status bar shows the dr awing area dimensions of 128x110.

75 Chapter 6: Ma intenance and T roub leshooti ng This chapter describes h ow to solve common issues you m ay experience with your ju kebox. T roub l eshooting Buttons do not w ork Make sure that the control loc k is not in t he LO CK posi tion. Check for a lock icon on the screen.
76 Firmware update fails If the firmware update util ity is unable to update your jukebox firmware, you need to re install your ju kebox’ s original firmwar e. T o reinstall yo ur jukebox’ s original firmware: 1 T urn on your jukeb ox and co nnect i t to your c omputer using th e USB combo cable.
77 4 Yo u c a n a l s o c l i c k : ■ Recover . Use this when files on the jukebox s eem to disappear , although you ha v e not d eleted th em. The Rec o ver optio n attempts to fix the databas e on the jukebox so that files will no longer d isappear .
78 JPG/JPEG photos do not displa y Y our jukebox can di splay digital photos saved i n the standard ( baseline or static ) JPG/JPE G forma t. Progressive or interlace d images are n o t viewable. 79 T r a nsferr ed musi c does not play If you tr ansfer music with Windows E xplorer instead of Windows M edia Player , the jukebox will not recogn ize the music. T o transfer music to your jukebox, you must use W indows Media Player . When I try to pla y a song, I get the me s sage “T o play this t rack, y ou must sync you r device to y our PC.

81 Mainta ining your jukebox Cleaning ■ D o n o t d r o p y o u r j u k e b o x o r p l a c e h e a v y o b j e c t s o n i t . ■ D o n o t l e t l i q u i d s c o m e i n t o c o n t a c t w i t h y o u r j u k e b o x . I f t h i s happens, wip e the jukebox with a dry cloth.
82 Repl acing the batt ery For extend ed listening t ime without r echarging, you can inst all a spare battery . W ith an extra batte ry or two, you ca n increase the jukebox play time from 8-10 hours to 1 6-20 or 24-30 ho urs. T o buy additi onal batteries, see www .
83 3 Press the battery to ward the far sid e of the jukebo x , then li ft the batt er y out o f the j ukeb ox. 4 Insert the r ep lacement battery into t he battery bay , making sure th e contacts o n the battery align wit h the contacts i n the battery bay .
84 Maintaining batt ery life Over time, you r battery may take m uch longer to cha r ge, and it may hold that charge for a shorter time. If this happens wi th your jukebox’ s batter y , you should buy a replacement from www .gateway .com/p hotojukeboxextras .
