36 ww w .g at eway . co m U sing the diskette dr iv e The optional diskette drive uses 3.5-inch diskettes (sometimes c alled floppy disks). Diskettes are useful for storing files or transferring f iles to another computer .
37 www .gate wa y .com T o use a diskette: 1 Insert the diskette into the disk e tte d rive with t he label facing up (or left, if using your Micro T ower case vertically). 2 T o access a file on the diskette, click Start , then click My Co mputer . Double-click the drive letter (for example, the A: drive), th en double-click the file name.
38 ww w .g at eway . co m U sing the Zip driv e Iomega Zip drives, like diskette drives, use disks to store data. Zip disks can store 100 M B, 250 MB, or 750 MB of da ta. Y ou can use the optional Zip d rive to back up files you do n o t u s e s o y o u c a n r e m o v e t h e m f r o m y o u r h a r d d r i v e .
39 www .gate wa y .com U sing the memor y card reader Y ou can use the optional memory card reader to transfer pic tures from a digital camera to your computer . Y ou can also use the memory card reader to transfer data between your computer and a device that uses memory cards, such as a PDA, MP3 p layer , or cellular phone.

Viruses can damage d a ta o r cause your computer to malfunction. Some viruses go undetected for a pe r iod of time because they are activated on a c ertain date.

T o i nstall or replace DIMM memory: 1 Open the case by following the inst r u ct i o ns in “Opening the case ” on page 54 .

Line noise is a common problem that ca n cause the modem to connect at a slower rate, abo rt downloads, or even disconnect.
