10Base2 a nd 10Base-T 17 Dipswitches On the back of the 10 Base2 and 10Bas e-T interface s, you will find a small window where yo u can access three dipswitches la beled 1, 2, and 3 (see Figure 1) . The functions of the di pswitches a re explain ed in Ta ble 3.

Configuration Using the Printer Control Panel 23 Config uration T ools There are two parts to a PrintNe t setup: 1. Configuring the Prin tNet so it c an be se en on the ne twork.

IPAssign 25 IPAssign IPAssign i s a Windows utility which helps identify the PrintNe t on the network. IPA ssign relies o n the TCP/IP proto col to loca te PrintNet pri nt servers so they can be assi gned.

Configuration Using ARP 35 At this po int, the TCP /IP settin gs are stor ed in fl ash memory and you should be able to s ee the Print Net on your Window s network. Ho wever, you cann ot print to it yet sinc e you ha ve not ide ntified th e network pr inter to your Win dows stat ion.

Chapter 3 Windows PrintNet Configuration 38 Changing W orkgroup Na mes Windows environme nts define groups of rel ated comp uters as “workg roups.” By d efault, the PrintNet belongs to th e workgrou p called “WORKGROU P”. However, you m ay want to ch ange this to suit your network bett er.
Changing Destination Names 39 The first field req uires the IP addres s for the PrintNet and the second fie ld must be fill ed in with a vali d destinat ion from the pr int server (e .g., d1prn). Otherwis e, LPR will not be able to access the print er.
