9 Selecting Surface Cooking Cookware Cookware should have fl at bottoms that mak e good contact with the entire surface heating element. Check for fl atness by rotating a ruler across the bottom of the cookware (See Figure 1).
10 SURFACE COOKING Specialty Pans & Trivets Woks with fl at bottoms suitable for use on your cooktop are available in most cookshop or hardw are stores. Round-bot tomed woks (with a support ring that does not extend beyond the heating element) may also be used.
11 BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS Ceramic Glass Cooktop (some models) The ceramic cooktop has r adiant surface elements located below the surface of the glass. The design of the ceramic cooktop outlines the area of the surf ace element underneath. Make sure the diameter of the pan matches the diameter of the element outline on the cooktop.
12 Element ON (all models) Y our appliance is equipped with two different types of radiant surf ace control indicator lights that will glow on the backguard- the Element On indicator light and the hot surface indicator lights.
13 SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS Surface cooking settings (All models) Use the chart to determine the correct setting for the t ype of food you are preparing. Note: The size and type of cookware used will in fl uence the setting needed for best cooking results.
14 Multiple Oven Racks Single Oven Rack BEFORE SETTING OVEN CONTROLS CAUTION Some models are equipped with a blower which runs in baking and self-cleaning mode to keep all internal components at a cool temperature. The blower may keep running even if the oven has been turned off, until the components have cooled down.
15 SETTING OVEN CONTROLS - MODEL A Control pad features READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE OVEN. For satisf actory use of your oven, become familiar with the v arious features and functions of the o ven as described below . Detailed instructions for each feature and function follow later in this Use & Care Guide.
16 To Set or Change the Temperature for Baking The oven can be progr ammed to bake at any temperature from 170°F to 500°F (76°C to 260°C). To Set the Controls for Baking: 1. Press BAKE pad. "— — —°" appears in the display . 2. Within 5 seconds, press the UP or DOWN ARROW pad.
17 Í NOTE The oven function will not work if the time of da y clock is not set. SETTING OVEN CONTROLS - MODELS B & C The oven can be programmed to Bake normally , Time Bake, Delayed Bak e, Broil, Self -Clean Note: Push buttons or pads may be shaped diff erently .
18 SETTING OVEN CONTROLS - MODELS B & C To Set the Clock When the range is fi rst plugged in, or when the power supply to the appliance has been interrupted, the display will fl ash "12:00". 1. Push CLOCK pad. 2. Within 5 seconds, push and hold the UP or DOWN ARROW pad until the correct time of day appears in the display .
19 SETTING OVEN CONTROLS - MODELS B & C Í NOTE The oven control has a built -in energy saving feature that will shut off the oven if the control is left on f or more than 11 hours 59 minutes. To Set or Change the Temperature for Normal Baking The oven can be progr ammed to bak e at any temper ature from 170°F to 550°F (77°C to 287°C).
20 To Set the Bake Time Feature The BAKE TIME and START TIME controls operate the Timed Bake F eature. The automatic timer will turn the oven on and off at the times y ou select in advance. The oven can be progr ammed to start immediately and shut off automatically or to begin baking at a later time with an automatic shut off .
21 SETTING OVEN CONTROLS - MODELS B & C What to Expect during Cleaning While the oven is in oper ation, the oven heats to temper atures much higher than those used in normal cooking. Sounds of metal expansion and contraction are normal. Odor is also normal as the food soil is being removed.
22 SETTING OVEN CONTROLS - MODELS B & C CAUTION Use care when opening the oven door after self -clean- ing cycle. Stand to the side of the oven when opening the door to allow hot air or steam to escape. DO NOT f orce the oven door open. This can damage the automatic door locking system.
23 CARE & CLEANING (Cleaning Chart) Cleaning various parts of your appliance Before cleaning any part of the appliance, be sure all controls are turned of f and the appliance is COOL. REMOVE SPILLOVERS AND HEA VY SOILING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. REGUL AR CLEANING WILL REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MAJOR CLEANING LA TER.
24 CARE & CLEANING WARNING Never leave co vers on the coil elements as they could be permanently damaged if turned on by accident. WARNING Do not use a cooktop cleaner on a hot cooktop. The fumes can be hazardous to your health, and can chemically damage the cooking surface.
25 CARE & CLEANING For heavy, burned-on soil: 1. Allow cooktop surface to cool. 2. Use a soap fi lled scouring pad with warm water or cover heavily soiled spots with a solution of clear water and ammonia. Scour gently . Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
26 Cleaning recommendations for the ceramic glass cooktop (Models B & C only) WARNING DO NOT use a cooktop cleaner on a hot cooktop. The fumes can be hazardous to your health, and can chemically damage the ceramic glass surf ace. CAUTION Before cleaning the cooktop, be sure the controls are turned to OFF and the cooktop is COOL.
27 CARE & CLEANING CAUTION The door is heavy . For saf e, temporary stor age, lay the door fl at with the inside of the door facing down. Removing and replacing the lift-off oven door To Remove Oven Door: 1. Open oven door completely (horizontal with fl oor - See Figure 1).

30 BEFORE YOU CALL (Solutions to Common Problems) OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION Range is not level. Poor installation. Place o ven rack in center of o ven. Place a level on the ov en rack. Adjust leveling legs at base of range until the r ack is level.
31 OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION Scratches or abrasions on cooktop surface. Coarse particles such as salt or sand between cooktop and utensils can cause scratches. Be sure cooktop surface and bottoms of utensils are clean bef ore usage. Small scratches do not affect cooking and will become less visible with time.
