9 BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS Using proper cookware The size and type of cookware used will in fl uence the setting needed for best cooking results. Be sure to f ollow the recommendations for using proper cookware as illustrated in Figures 1 & 2.
10 SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS Coil surface elements The cooktop has 4 coil surface element positions ( fi gure 1). To Operate the Coil Surface Elements 1. Place cooking utensil on the surface element. 2. Push in and turn the Surface Control knob in either direction to the desired setting ( fi gure 2).

When the oven is on, warm air is released through the vent. This venting is necessary f or proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results.
13 MODEL A - SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS Control pad features READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE OVEN. For satisf actory use of your oven, become familiar with the v arious features and functions of the o ven as described below . Detailed instructions for each feature and function follow later in this Use & Care Guide.
14 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS - MODEL A TO SET OR CHANGE THE TEMPERATURE FOR BAKING The oven can be progr ammed to bake at any temperature from 170°F to 500°F (76°C to 260°C). To Set the Controls for Baking: 1. Press BAKE pad. "— — —°" appears in the display .
15 MODEL B & C - SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS Í NOTE The oven function will not work if the time of da y clock is not set. THE OVEN CAN BE PROGRAMMED TO Bake normally , Time Bake, Delayed Bak e, Broil, Self -Clean Note: Push buttons or pads may be shaped diff erently .
16 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS - MODEL B & C TO SET THE CLOCK When the range is fi rst plugged in, or when the power supply to the appliance has been interrupted, the display will fl ash "12:00". 1. Push CLOCK pad. 2. Within 5 seconds, push and hold the UP or DOWN ARROW pad until the correct time of day appears in the display .
17 MODEL B & C - SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS Í NOTE The oven control has a built -in energy saving feature that will shut off the oven if the control is left on f or more than 11 hours 59 minutes. TO SET OR CHANGE THE TEMPERATURE FOR NORMAL BAKING The oven can be progr ammed to bak e at any temper ature from 170°F to 550°F (77°C to 287°C).
18 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS - MODEL B & C TO SET THE BAKE TIME FEATURE The BAKE TIME and START TIME controls operate the Timed Bake F eature. The automatic timer will turn the oven on and off at the times y ou select in advance.
19 MODEL B & C - SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS What to Expect during Cleaning While the oven is in oper ation, the oven heats to temper atures much higher than those used in normal cooking. Sounds of metal expansion and contraction are normal. Odor is also normal as the food soil is being removed.
20 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS - MODEL B & C CAUTION Use care when opening the oven door after self -clean- ing cycle. Stand to the side of the oven when opening the door to allow hot air or steam to escape. DO NOT f orce the oven door open. This can damage the automatic door locking system.
21 MODEL B & C - SETTING AUXILIARY OVEN CONTROLS TO BAKE 1. Arrange ov en racks while the ov en is cool. 2. T urn the T emperature Control Knob to the desired oven temper ature. When the oven is fi rst turned ON, the oven indicator light below the T emperature Control Knob will glow .
22 CARE & CLEANING (Cleaning Chart) Cleaning various parts of your appliance Before cleaning any part of the appliance, be sure all controls are turned OFF and the appliance is COOL. REMOVE SPILLOVERS AND HEA VY SOILING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. REGUL AR CLEANING WILL REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MAJOR CLEANING LA TER.
23 CARE & CLEANING Porcelain enamel oven Cleaning (main oven on model A) (auxiliary oven on model B & C) CAUTION Ammonia must be rinsed before operating the oven. Provide adequate ventilation. CAUTION DO NOT line the oven walls, bot tom, r acks or any other part of the appliance with aluminum foil.
24 CARE & CLEANING CAUTION Be sure the range is cool bef ore removing elements or drip bowls. Be careful not to bend terminal ends when replacing elements after cleaning. CAUTION When lowering the lift-up r ange top, gr asp the sides with fi nger -tips only .
25 CARE & CLEANING CAUTION Do not use metallic scrubbers to clean the griddle. Metals can scratch the surf ace. Only use n ylon or plastic scrubbers. CAUTION Be sure the oven is unplugged and all parts are COOL before replacing the oven light bulb .
26 CARE & CLEANING Special door care instructions - Most oven doors contain glass that can break. Read the f ollowing recommendations: 1. Do not close the oven door until all the ov en racks are fully in place. 2. Do not hit the glass with pots, pans, or an y other ob- ject.

29 BEFORE YOU CALL (Solutions to Common Problems) OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION Range is not level. Poor installation. Place o ven rack in center of o ven. Place a level on the ov en rack. Adjust leveling legs at base of range until the r ack is level.
30 OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION Areas of discoloration with metallic sheen. Mineral deposits from w ater and food. Remo ve using a ceramic -glass cooktop cleaning cream. Use cookware with clean, dry bottoms. Poor baking results. Many factors af fect baking results.
