9 -EN PI SEEK Setting 1 Press and ho ld FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to activate the SETUP mode . 2 Tu r n t h e Rotary encoder (CDE-9874 Series only) or press and (CDE-9872 Series only) to select the PI SEEK mode, an d then press / /ENT .
10 -EN CDE-9874 Series CDE-9872 Series Playback 1 Insert a disc with the label side facing up. The disc will be pulled into the uni t automatically , and the “DISC IN” indi cator li g hts up. When a disc is alr eady inserted, pre ss SOURCE/ to switch to the DISC mode.
11 -E N M.I.X. (Random Play) Press 5 in th e play or pa use mo de . The trac ks (files) on the disc will be pla yed back in random sequence. T o cancel M.I. X. play , pre ss 5 again. CD mode : MP3 mode : Searching for CD T ext On discs uti lizing CD T ext, so ngs can be searched an d played by using their rec orded titles.
12 -EN Quick Search (CDE-9874 Se ries only) Y ou can sea rch for tracks (f iles). 1 Press and ho ld /ESC for at least 2 seconds i n the CD/MP3 m ode to activate Quick Search mode . 2 Tu r n t h e Ro tary encod er to select a desired track (fil e). The select ed track i s played back immed iately .
13 -E N Bit rate This is the “so und” compression rate specified for encod ing. The higher the bit rate, the higher the sound qual ity , but also the lar ger the file s. Samplin g rate This v alue sh ows h ow man y times per sec ond th e data is sam pled (recor ded).
14 -EN 2 Tu r n t h e Rotary encoder (CDE-9874 Series only) or press and (CD E-9872 Series only) until the desired sound is obtained in each mode. By setting DE FEA T ON, previous ly adjusted settings of BASS and TREBLE will return to the factory defaults.
15 -E N Adjusting the High Pass F ilter The High Pass Filte r on this unit can be adjust ed to suit your person al tast e. 1 -1 Press an d hold SOUN D for at least 2 secon ds to activ ate th e Sound Setting m ode (CDE-9872 Ser ies only ). 1 -2 Press / SOUND (CDE-9874 Series only) or SOUND (CDE-9872 Series only) repeatedly to select the HPF mode.

19 -E N CDE-9874 Series CDE-9872 Series An iPod ® can be con nected t o this u nit b y using the proprietary ALPINE FULL SPE ED ™ Connectio n Cable (KCE- 422i) (sold separa tely). When this unit is connected by using the cable, the co ntrols on the iPod are not funct ional.
20 -EN 5 Tu r n t h e Rotary encoder (CDE-9874 Series only) or press and (CDE-9872 Series only) to select th e desired Song, an d then press / / ENT . • After pressing and holding / / ENT for at least 2 seconds while in each hiera r chy (e xcept SONG hiera r chy) , all songs of th e select ed hierarc hy ar e played back.
21 -E N Random Play Shuffle (M. I.X.) The Shuffle functio n of the iPod is displ ayed as M.I.X. on thi s unit. Shuffle Albums: The songs on eac h album are p layed back i n proper or der . Upon completio n of all the songs on t he album, the nex t album is selected ran domly .

26 -EN Installation • The ma in unit must be mount ed within 35 degr e es of the ho rizontal plane, back to front. Caution When you ins tall this unit in your car , do not remove the detachable front panel. If the detachable fr on t panel is removed during installat ion, you might press too hard and warp the metal plate that ho lds it in place.
27 -E N Removal 1. Remove the deta chable front panel. 2. Use a small screwdriver ( or similar tool) to push th e locking pi ns to the “up” pos ition (see ab ove drawing) . As eac h pin is unlock ed, gently pul l out on the unit to make sur e it does not re-l ock before unl ocking the second pi n.
