2 W elcome to A quaSmart 2 ™ Thank you f or buying a Fisher & P aykel AquaSmart 2™ clothes washer . W e are v er y proud of this washer and trust it will serve you well for man y years. At F isher & Pa ykel we aim to provide inno vative products that are simple t o use, ergonomic and kind to the environment.
3 Installation instructions Unpacking T o ensure the best per formance from y our new AquaSmart 2™ clothes washer please follow the instructions below . Removing the packaging 1 Remove the outer packaging. 2 Tilt the machine backwards and walk it off the bottom packer one foot at a time .
4 Installation instructions W ater supply This clothes washer should be plumbed into both a hot and cold w ater supply otherwise some cycles may not function correctly. Y our hot water should not exceed 65˚C, and y our cold water should not exc eed 35˚C.
5 Installation instructions Lev elling your machine It is IMPORT ANT to level the machine t o ensure good spin performance and effective detergent and fabric softener dispensing. 1 Separate the 4 rubber foot inserts from the moulding and fit into the feet on the base of the machine.
6 Installation instructions Clothes washer safety This clothes washer is not intended f or use by persons (including children) with reduc ed physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experi.
7 Y ou owe it to yourself and y our AquaSmart 2™ to have it installed correctly by a technician from a Fisher & P aykel A uthorised Repairer . Before y ou star t, it is a good idea to go through.
8 The unique A quaSmar t 2™ wash The AquaSmar t 2™ washer has two modes of washing, High Efficiency and Con ventional . Both modes star t the same way , with a Deter gent Activating wash. Detergent A ctivating wash AquaSmart 2™ fills the bowl at the selected water temperatur e, with just enough water so the clothes are sa turated.
9 Sor ting and loading When sorting your wash load and loading your AquaSmart 2™ there are some important things to consider: Sor ting Care labels pro vide valuable information about the fabric type and how the garment should be washed.
10 Sor ting and loading Y ou may notice that your Aqu aSmar t 2 ™ clothes washer behaves diff erently from y our previous washer . Y our AquaSmart 2™, like all H igh Efficiency washers, has fully automatic water lev el selection. This means that, like front loaders , the selection of the water level is left entirely up to the washer .
11 Choosing the right detergen t Y our AquaSmart 2™ is a H igh Efficiency clothes washer and needs a Low Sudsing Detergen t to preven t oversudsing problems . This is the same type of detergent F ront Loaders use and is labelled, “Lo w Suds” , “Matic” , “High Efficiency ” or “HE” .
12 F abric sof tener Choosing the right cycle If you wish to use fabric softener you will need to select the SOFTENER option which will give you a deep rinse. If the softener option is not selected, the softener will not be dispensed. F or instructions on selec ting the SOFTENER option please refer t o pages 19 and 25.
13 AquaSmart 2™ safety featur es Auto dr ain Unsupervised clothes washers filled with water can present a drowning hazar d to small children. In order to minimise any risk of this type of accident, your A quaSmart 2™ has been pre-programmed to know when this potential hazard is cr eated and drain the wash water t o a safe level .
14 W ash cycles Y our AquaSmart 2™ washer has a number of wash c ycles to suit y our laundering needs. Selecting the most appropriate cycle for each particular wash load will help ensure you get the best possible wash result.
15 W ash c ycles W ash cycles explained Delicate Delicate – High Efficiency mode F or delicate or valuable lightly soiled clothes. Delicate – High Efficiency mode OFF F or when you want to wash y our delicates in more water .
16 W ash cycles W ash cycles explained Whites Whites – High Efficiency mode A higher temperature w ash to keep white garments looking white. Whites – High Efficiency mode OFF When you want t o use more water when washing white garments .
17 Specific bulky wash options Duvet/Doona Blanket Throw Jacket Sleeping bag Rinse and Spin Rinse and Spin – High Efficienc y mode This cycle allows you t o select a water efficient Rinse and Spin only.
18 Getting star ted quickly Before y ou star t It is impor tant to sort your clothes, particularly by colour (eg separate white/light colours from dark colours), as well as separa ting out sheets and washing them on the SHEETS c ycle. Refer to page 9 f or more details on sorting and loading.
19 Getting star ted quickly Easy touch buttons and L CD scr een These buttons requir e only a gentle touch to activate. 1 T ouch POWER to activate your AquaSmart 2™ washer . 2 HIGH EFFICIENCY – this light tells you when ‘High Efficiency ’ mode is selec ted.
20 AquaSmart 2™ controls Easy touch contr ols These smooth, easy clean buttons requir e only a gentle touch to activate. T o scroll you need t o remove y our finger to break contact and touch it again. High Efficiency mode This button activates or deactivates the HIGH EFFICIENCY mode.
21 AquaSmart 2™ controls The display scr een The display screen allo ws you to view the available w ash cycles and modify options. It provides feedback on what your A quaSmart 2™ washer is doing and how long the wash has to go, t o keep you informed thr oughout the c ycle .
22 Choosing your w ash c ycle Using the soft touch display When you turn your A quaSmar t 2™ washer on, the main wash cycles will be displayed on the scr een.
23 Changing the wash cycle options 1 Selec t the wash option you wish to modify , highlight it by t ouching the SELEC T button. Regular wash START? FAST SPIN WARM SOFTENER 2 Choose your pref erred setting and press SELECT .
24 Changing the wash cycle options T emperature AquaSmart 2™ offers five wash tempera tures. Cold T ap Controlled Cold W arm/Cold Wa r m W arm/Hot Hot Incoming water from tap 20°C 35°C 40°C 50°C.
25 Changing the wash cycle options Contr olled Cold The temperatur e of cold tap water varies widely , depending on your location and the season. The lower the c old water temperatur e, the less effective the cold wash bec omes.
26 Changing the wash cycle options Delay Start The Delay Start option delays the start of the wash c ycle between 15 minutes and 18 hours. This can be useful to time y our washing to finish when you arrive home from work, or to start once you have finished in the show er .
27 Lifestyle cycles No experience nec essar y Y our AquaSmart 2™ washer offers you a range of special Lifestyle cycles, to make washing ev en easier . These cycles hav e been specifically designed by our washing experts, with you in mind. W e have incorporat ed 70 years of washing knowledge into 19 easy to use, pr e -programmed wash cycles.
28 Lifestyle cycles The Lifestyle cycles are present ed in five distinct categories to help you to acc ess them quickly and easily. T he following pages explain the unique cycles that are locat ed within these categories and how they might be of help .
29 Lifestyle cycles Stains W e recommend that you tr eat a stain as soon as you can. Ther e are a number of stains that need special treatment due to their unique c omposition. Some water temperatures can actually set stains rather than remov e them. This is why w e have carefully designed our ST AINS cycles for you .
30 Lifestyle cycles F amily Some common household washing situations may requir e extra washing knowledge. We ha ve created fiv e unique F AMIL Y c ycles to help you with those tricky situations. Duvet/Doona Duvets and doonas can be difficult items to wash as they ar e bulky and often float out of the water .
31 Lifestyle cycles Sports Outdoor activities can create some unique washing challenges . W e hav e created f our helpful wash cycles to quickly deal with these situations. Sweat y The clothes you ex ercise in require a little extra care t o remove the odours and dirt that tend to penetrate into the fabric structure.
32 Settings menu After using your AquaSmart 2™ washer you may wish t o fine -tune some of the options available to suit your individual needs. An y options changed in this menu will be a permanent change, unless RESET DEF AUL TS is selected (ref er to page 35).
33 Settings menu Balance Recov ery When your washer is spinning it can sense if the wash load is out of balanc e. It will stop and tr y to spin up to three times . If the machine still senses an unbalanced load, there ar e two options the machine can take: 1.
34 Settings menu Keylock mode Keylock automatically locks the buttons on your A quaSmart 2™ when not in use. This will avoid ac cidental button pushes from items left on the lid of the washer and also from any little fingers . T o turn Keylock mode ON or OFF: Access the Settings menu (r efer page 32).
35 Settings menu T rouble Shooting F or help with some of the more common issues you may enc ounter . Access the Settings menu (r efer page 32). Scroll to the TROUBLE SHOO TING option, and press SELECT . Use the SCROLL buttons to scr oll through the information pro vided.
36 When you ha ve finished the cycle T urn off the taps to prev ent the chance of flooding should a hose burst. Unplug the machine from the wall socket. Cleaning your Aqu aSmar t 2 ™ Before y ou star t cleaning your AquaSmart 2™ washer , ensur e that it is turned off at the wall (or that the Keylock mode has been activated).
37 Cleaning your low-pr ofile agitator If your low-profile agita tor becomes stained we rec ommend you use household bleach to clean it. Ensure you w ear gloves, tip a small amount of household bleach ont o a soft cloth and apply to the stain. Be careful to av oid metal sur faces of your machine .
38 Before y ou call for service Please read the f ollowing pages before y ou call for service. Y ou can correct many of your machine ’ s problems yourself, using the checklists on the follo wing pages.
39 Before y ou call for service “I am not getting any C OLD W A TER” Check that the cold water supply has been turned on. Y our cold water temperatur e may exceed the r ecommended limits (refer to ‘I nstallation instructions’ , page 4). Check that the inlet hose filter is not blocked.
40 Solving operating pr oblems Pressing POWER does not turn on machine . Is the power switched on at the w all? Unplug from wall. W ait 60 seconds , plug back in, turn on and tr y again. Could household pow er supply be at fault? T ry plugging in another appliance.
41 Solving operating pr oblems W ash CY CLE TIME longer than usual. If water pressure is lo w , cycle time will increase due to longer fill times. Ensure that inlet hose filters are not blocked. Y our machine may have initiated W ash Recov er y mode where it has sensed your load is washin g unevenly .
42 Solving wash problems CREASING. W as the washer or dryer overloaded? Selecting the EASY IRON c ycle will minimise creasing . T ry not to leave wet clothes sitting in the washer or laundry basket. LINTING. W as the washer overloaded? W ash lint givers, eg t owels, separa tely from lint receiv ers, eg synthetics.
43 Manufac turer’ s W arran ty Y ou automatically receive a 2 y ear Manufacturer ’ s W arranty with the purchase of this Product cov ering par ts and labour for servicing within the country of purchase.
44 Manufac turer’ s W arran ty E Normal recommended maintenance as set out in the product’ s user guide . F R epairs when the appliance has been dismantled, r epaired or serviced by other than a Fisher & P aykel authorised repair er or the selling dealer .
