5 I mpor tant Saf ety I nf ormation Storing F ood and Drinks Never store v olatile or flammable materials in your refrigerator or fr eezer as they may explode. Never freeze liquids in glass containers . Liquid expands during freezing, which ma y cause the container to explode.
6 I nstallation - F our Essential Requirements P lease follow the steps f or installation to ensure y our appliance operates correctly . 1. P ower The appliance must be installed so the plug is accessible. To ensure that the appliance is not accidentally switched off , connect your refrigerator or fr eezer to its own pow er point.
7 I nstallation - F our Essential Requirements 4. V entilation and I nstallation To ensure adequate ventilation f or your refrigerator or v ert ical fr eezer , allow a minimum of 50mm of airspace above the cabinet, 20mm on each side, and 30mm at the r ear .
8 Mo ving or St oring Y our Refr igerat or If y our refrigerator or freezer is turned off f or any reason, wait 10 minut es before turning it back on. This will allow the refrigeration system pr essures to equalise bef ore restarting. Mo ving Y our Refrigerator Tu rn off the appliance and unplug from the power point.
9 D oor Con version If y ou need to hinge your door on the opposite side we r ecommend that you call your local F isher and P aykel Authorised Ser vice C entre or Dealer to make this conversion. Ac tive Smar t™ r efrigerators with silver handles need to be ordered either with left or right opening doors and can not be interchanged.
10 D oor Con version F it new cap door closing to bott om hinge bracket. The new cap door closing is a mirror image of the existing part. Remove the hinge hole covers from the ends of the door using a narrow blade to prise them away from the door . The hinge hole covers are the components without holes .

12 Ac tive Smart™ Operating I nstructions Sabbath Mode To activate the Sabbath mode press the compartment selec t button on the t emperature control panel for 10 seconds. W hen the Pr oduct is in Sabbath Mode: The light will not operate when the door is opened.
13 Ac tive Smart™ Special F eatur es F ruit and V egetable Bins and Humidity Control C over The fruit and vegetable bins featur e a unique cover which provides two functions: The humidity cover seals the bins and provides a humid microclimate t o extend storage times of fruits and vegetables.
14 Ac tive Smart™ Special F eatur es F ault Alarms If the electronic controller detects a fault from which it is unable t o recover an alarm will sound. When the fresh food compartment door is opened a fault code (specific pattern of lights) will flash red and gr een on the Control panel to alert you to the fault.
15 Ac tive Smart™ M aintenance Replacement of the Interior Light (Halogen Light Bulb) Tu rn the power off at the wall socket befor e replacing the bulb . The light bulb is located on the t op roof of the cabinet at the front. Remove the lens cover using a small screw driver .
16 Ac tive Smart™ Cleaning Care – I nt erior/Ex terior Int e rior It is important to keep the interior of the refrigerator and freezer clean t o help prevent f ood from becoming contaminated during storage.
17 Ac tive Smart™ Cleaning Care – Special F eatures Int e rior Glass Shelves Clean with warm water and detergent or a glass cleaner . I f cleaning the shelv es without r emoving from the cabinet, use only warm water and detergent as a glass cleaner can damage the plastic components of your refrigerator .
18 Ac tive Smart™ Cleaning Care – Special F eatures To Remove T rays or F ixed Bins F or ease of r emoval, empty food fr om tray/bin first. Hold the centre front of the tra y/bin handle. Lift ver tically t o unclip from the runners and pull tray/bin towar ds you to r emove.
19 Ac tive Smart™ Cleaning Care – Special F eatures Humidity Control Sy stem ( Where F itted) I mportant Note: When cleaning the shelf abov e the vegetable bins, w e recommend that you do not disassemble the Humidity Control Syst em from the shelf .
20 Ac tive Smart™ Cleaning Care – Special F eatures Roll Out F ruit and V egetable Bin – E415H Remove for cleaning by pulling out the compartment until it stops, lifting and then continuing to slide it f or war d until it is fully extended.

Allow the refrigerator to run empty for 2 – 3 hours bef ore placing f ood inside the fresh food or freezer compartments.
22 Cy clic and Compact Special F eatures and Maintenance P120 Ice Bo x This is designed for short-term storage of froz en foods and ice only . I t is recommended that the tray is kept in place under the ice box at all times.

25 Cy clic and Compact Cleaning Care Defrosting Model C170T It is r ecommended that a freezer be defr osted when the frost is gr eater than 6mm thick. Remove all froz en food and wrap it in several la yers of paper . P lace food in the refrigerator compartment or a cool environment e.
26 Ve r tical F reezer Operating Instruc tions Models: 525mm wide N150, N210 635mm wide N308, N388 T emperature Contr ol The cabinet control is located at the bottom r ear of the cabinet. The control has been factory set to position 4 for normal operating conditions.
27 Chest F reezers Special F eatures and Maintenance Defrosting your Chest F reezer It is r ecommended that your freez er be defrosted when the frost is g reater than 6 to 10mm thick using the plastic scraper provided. Remove all froz en food and wrap it in several la yers of paper .
28 Storing F ood in Y our Refr igerator Storing fresh, perishable foods in your r efrigerator helps to extend storage times. The cold t emperatures slow down the major causes of food spoilage – namely , the growth of bacteria, moulds and yeasts, and chemical and ph ysical reactions.
29 Storing F ood in Y our Refr igerat or Red Meat P lace fresh red meat on a plat e and loosely cover with waxed paper or plastic wrap or foil. Store cooked and raw meat on separate plates . This will prev ent any juices lost from the raw meat fr om contaminating the cooked product.
30 Storing F ood in Y our F reez er The use of temperatures of -18˚C or colder to st ore food means that the f ood can be kept for longer periods than when refrigeration temperatures are used .
31 Storing F ood in Y our F reez er Me at, P oultry and G ame Do not tr y to fr eeze more than 1kg meat per 25L freezer capacity . Meat must be frozen quickly in order to maintain its texture . Do not stuff poultr y befor e freezing . Red meat can be cooked from frozen, or fr om the partly or completely thawed states .
