2 AUT OMA TIC PO WER ENGA GE Y our 10 year life smoke alarm is powered by an internal lithium-ion power pack. T o av oid unnecessar y use of the power pack prior to installation, and to ease disposal when the alarm reaches the end of its life , the alar m is supplied with the power pack in a deactivated state.
3 SENSOR TECHNOLOGY There are two main types of smoke alarm. The SI-610 Standard Smoke Alar m uses an ionisation type sensor to detect the presence of smoke. Ionisation type smoke alar ms are gener ally more effective at detecting fast, aming res which consume combustible mater ials r apidly and spread re quickly .
4 APPLICA TION W ARNING: Y our FireAngel smoke alarm can be installed into a new build proper ty as additional protection to an existing smoke detection system only . It cannot be used as a substitute for a hard wired system as required in new build proper ties.

9 WHA T ARE THE LIMIT A TIONS OF MY SMOKE ALARM? Y our FireAngel smoke alar m is designed to aler t you by sounding an alar m when it senses smoke , i.
10 IMPOR T ANT : Smoke alar ms are designed to aler t you with an audible alar m at a level specied by the Br itish Standard BS EN 14604: 2005. Closed door s, walls and high ambient noise levels will reduce this level. T empor ar y or per manently impaired hear ing may result in the alarm not being heard.
11 HO W T O INST ALL Y OUR SMOKE ALARM IMPOR T ANT : Make sure you have read and under stood this manual before installing your smok e alarm. 1 Preparation Attach the mounting plate to a ceiling or wall. If the alarm is to be mounted on a w all, ensure the mounting plate is aligned correctly.

13 3 Fit Y our FireAngel Smok e Alarm The alarm will only lock into place in one particular position. P osition the smoke alarm ov er the mounting plate lining up the centr al vent on the front of the alarm with the ‘ X ’ moulded into the plastic on the mounting plate and tur n clockwise.
14 OPERA TION Normal condition The red LED on the front should ash ever y 40 seconds to show the alarm is active. Low P ower P ack Condition IMPOR T ANT : Y our smoke alar m requires the power pack to have sufcient capacity of power to operate correctly .
15 ALARM TEST a Press the test button in the centre and release. b The unit will emit a loud (85dB at 3 meter s) alarm for around 5 seconds and stop automatically .
16 ALARM SMAR T SILENCE™ D ANGER: If your FireAngel smoke alarm emits the full alarm signal and you are not testing the unit, the smoke alar m is war ning you of a potentially dangerous situation that requires your immediate attention. Only use the alar m silence function after making sure that there is no ongoing re emergency situation.
17 NO TE: If the level of smoke reaching the alarm is ver y high the alarm silence will be overridden and the alarm will continue to sound. a Press and release the silence button, the alarm sound will shor tly stop. b Y our alarm will silence and enter into a reduced sensitivity reset cycle for approximately 10 min utes.
18 d Y our alar m will automatically return to full sensitivity on completion of the reset cycle and the red LED will rever t to ashing once ever y 40 seconds.
19 W ARNING: Y our FireAngel smoke alarm may false alarm when it is being cleaned using a vacuum cleaner . IMPOR T ANT : Do not use solvents or cleaner s on your FireAngel smoke alarm, as they may cause damage to the sensor or circuitr y . The unit can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth.

22 TROUBLESHOO TING Problem Solution Y our FireAngel smoke alarm does not sound dur ing testing • Make sure alarm has been rotated clockwise as far as it can go and is securely located on mounting plate (this means the power pack has been activated).
23 Y our FireAngel smoke alarm goes into alar m when rst tting to the mounting plate • SI-610 Only: Ionisation alarms can be affected by high levels of static.
24 Y ou experience frequent unwanted alarms • Check the location of your FireAngel smoke alarm (see the section on ‘P ositioning’). • Clean the smoke alarm (see the section on ‘Routine Maintenance’). • SI-610 Only: Remov e buildup of static electricity by wiping your smoke alarm with a slightly damp cloth.

26 HO W T O MAKE Y OUR HOME SAFER Installing smoke alar ms is only one step in protecting your family from res. Y ou m ust also take steps to reduce the chances of res star ting in your home . If a re does star t, you must increase your chances of escaping.
