Intr oduction and Installation This section gives an overview of the guide and features of the Extr on VNS104 Multi-Stream Decoding Softwar e. It also describes the r equirements for using the application.
A system license, stored on the VN-Matrix Enterprise Contr oller , manages the number of connections that can be made simultaneously . The VNS104 decoder is ideal for use in monitoring, remote pr esentation viewing, collaboration, or data visualization.
VN-Matrix Device Compatibility The following table addresses the rmwar e versions running on compatible VN-Matrix Series encoders. The VNS104 is compatible with PURE3 streams that originate fr om encoders running the specied rmware versions or newer .
VNS104 Softwar e Installation Before Installing the Softwar e Before starting the VNS104 installation, the Enterprise Contr oller must be updated with compatible rmware (see VN-Matrix Device Compatibility on page3).
• If a previous installation of the VNS104 softwar e is detected by the install program, the following scr een appears (see figur e 3). -Select Update to update Extron’ s VN-Matr ix Multi-stream Decoding Software, -Repair to fix or reinstall, -Remo ve to delete all.

VNS104 Configuration This section outlines the steps requir ed to congur e the VNS104 software and connect to the VN-Matrix Enterprise Controller .
VNS104 Configuration On the rst launch of the VNS104 application, the licensing and setup dialog box opens automatically (see gure 9). Figure 9. If the VNS104 was not congured during installation, or changes to the contr oller , the PC, or the network have occured and the VNS104 is unable to contact the controller , the controller is .
Full Screen and Reduced Scr een Modes The VNS104 has two screen modes: full and r educed. When decoding and viewing PURE3 streams, you can switch between the two. Figure 17. Select Full Screen T o switch from the reduced scr een to full scr een, select Fullscreen from the toolbar or double-click anywhere on the scr een.
Decoder Window Quad Str eam Display Format The display area of the VNS104 main display window is divided into four smaller decoder windows (see gure 18) that r esult in four quadrants of equal r esolution positioned around the display window center .
VNS104 Scaling Modes Each window can be set to one of three scalings: unity , follow , or ll (see gure20, below). • Follow: The aspect ratio of the source image is maintained: the entir e sour ce video is displayed in the available screen or window size.
Decoded Window Splash Scr een Each decoded window may display a splash screen generated by the pr ogram. The splash screen is enabled by default and displayed when a sour ce str eam is either not assigned or not available. The splash screen option may be disabled fr om the Enterprise Controller .
VNS104 Performance The performance of the VNS104 depends on the bit rate of the PURE3 streams and the capability of the PC hardwar e it r esides on. If hardwar e limitations ar e encountered, the image may update mor e slowly . The VNS104 monitors its performance and makes adjustments in real time to ensur e the highest quality video.
Single stream limit When PC resour ces ar e insufcient to support decoding and display of all str eams, the connection for a single stream is temporarily suspended giving the r esour ces time to recover . A splash screen is displayed in the window of the affected str eam (see gure21).
