Page 30 Allied T e lesis A T -80 00SSwitch Inst allation Guide Chapter 3. S t acking S tacking provides multiple switch manageme nt through a si ngle point as if all stack members are a single unit. All stack members are accessed via a single IP a ddress through which the stack is managed.
St acking Stacking Chain T opology Page 31 Figure 20: St acking Ring T opology Most difficulties incurred in Ring topologies occur when a device in the ring becomes non-functional, or a link is severed. In a stack, the system auto matically switches to a S tacking Fa ilover topology wi thout any system downtime.
Page 32 Allied T e lesis A T -80 00SSwitch Inst allation Guide Configuring S tacking Configuring stacking is performed duri ng the bootup process. T o c onfigure a d evice as part of a stack, the bootup process must be interrupted straight after the Power On Self T est (POST).
