4 Loading Paper Loading Paper Y ou can print documents and photos on a variety of paper types and sizes. F or details, see page 6. 1. Open the paper support and flip up the extension. Then open the output tray and pull out th e extensions. 2. F lip the feeder guar d up.
Loading P aper 5 4. Insert the paper , glossy or printable side up, against the right side and beneath the tab. Always load paper short edge first, even for landscape printing. Load letterhead or pre-printed paper top edge first. Y ou can load up to 120 sheets of plain paper , 80 sheets of matte, or 20 sheets of phot o paper .

14 Printing From a Memory Card or Digit al Camera Inserting the Card 1. Make sure the CX7400 Series is turned on. Note: When you print directly from a memory card, it is best if the CX7400 Series is not connected to your computer or the comput er is turned off.
Printing From a Memory Card 15 Printing Photos From an Index Sheet Y ou can print an index sheet containing small versions of all the photos on your memory card. Then you can select the photos you want to print by marking them on the sheet and scanning the sheet.

18 Printing From a Memory Card or Digit al Camera Printing From a Digital Camera If you have a digital camera that support s PictBridge ™ or USB DIRECT - PRINT ™ printing, you can connect it to the CX7400 S eries and print your photos directly from the camera.
Printing Fr om Your Computer 19 Printing From Your Computer This section describes the basic steps for printing a photo or document stored on your Windo w s or Macintosh computer . F or detailed instructions on printing, see the on-screen User’s Guide .
20 Printing From Your Computer (If you see a Setup , Printer , or Options button, click it. Then click Preference s or Properties on the next screen.) 5. On the Main tab , select the basic print settings. Make sur e you choose the correct paper Type setting for the paper you ar e using (see page 23 for details).

Printing With a Macintosh 23 10. T o monitor the progress of your print job, click the printer icon in the dock (or click the Print Center icon and double-click Stylus CX7400 on the next scre en). Selecting the Correct Paper Type Select the correct Type (see page 20) or Media Type (see page 22) setting in your printer software.
24 Scanning a Phot o or Docume nt Scanning a Photo or Document Y ou can use your Epson S tylus CX7400 Se ries all-in-one to scan a photo or document and save it on your computer or other device. Y ou can even restore and cor rect phot ographs as you scan (see page 25).

Cleaning the Print Head 27 4. If there are no gaps, press OK to continue printing. If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, pr ess x Start to clean the print head (see the next section for details). Cleaning the Print Head If print quality has declined and the nozzle check pattern indicates clogged nozzles, you can clean the print head.
28 Maintaining Your All-in-One Checking the Ink Cartridge Status When the red B ink light starts flashing, a car tridge is low on ink. Y ou can continue printing until a cartridge ne eds replacement. When the red B ink light stays on, you need to replace a cartridge.
Replacing Ink Cartridges 29 Note: It’s best to use 69 for heavy u se and 88 for moderate use. We recommend that you use genuine Epson cartridges an d do not refill them. The use of other products may affect your print quality and could result in printer damage.
30 Maintaining Your All-in-One 3. P ress the y Stop button. The print head moves to the _ position to in dicate which cartridge is low or expended. Caution: Do not move the print head by hand; this may damage your CX7400 Series. Always press and release the y Stop button to move it.
Replacing Ink Cartridges 31 5. Open the cartridge cover . 6. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift it up. Dispose of it carefully . Do not take the used cartridge apar t or tr y to refill it. Warning: If ink gets on your hands, wash them thoro ughly with soap and water .
32 Maintaining Your All-in-One 8. Remo ve the yellow tape from the bottom of the ink cartridge. Caution: Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink may leak. 9. Insert the new ink cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place.
Replacing Ink Cartridges 33 11. Close the scanner . 12. Pr ess the y Stop button to begin charging the ink. This tak es about 2 minutes. When it’ s finished, the P On light stops flashing and remains on, and the B ink light goes out. Caution: Never turn off the CX7400 Series while ink is charging or you’ll waste ink.
34 Solving Problems Solving Problems If you have a problem with your CX7400 S eries, check the lights on the control panel to diagnose the cause. Y ou can also check “P roblems and Solutions ” on page 36 for basic troubleshooting suggestions, or double-click the User’s Guide icon on your computer desktop for more detailed help .

Problems and Solutions 37 ■ If paper is ja mmed, follow these steps: 1. Gently pull out jammed paper from the output tray or sheet feeder . 2. If paper is stuck inside , turn off the CX740 0 Series. 3. Open the scanner , remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner , and turn the CX7400 S eries back on.
