5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and conn ection instructions” . • If the appliance is delivere d in th e winter months when there are mi- nus temperatur es: stor e the washin g machine at room temperatur e for 24 hours befor e using for the fir st time.
6 Gener al safety • Repairs to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineers. • Never use the appliance when the el ectrical cable is damaged o r the control panel, worktop or plinth ar ea are damaged to such an extent that the inside of the app liance is openly accessible.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 1 litr e of water through the detergent dr awer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next progr amme is started and the economy valve can function pr operly 3.
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/l oading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and ST ART/PAUSE indica - tors show whether the door can be opened: 2. Separate washing and load it loose- ly .
12 • Water softener should be used fr om water hardness r ange 2 (=medi- um). The amount of detergent used can then always be that as for hardness r ange 1 (=soft). Y our local water company will pr ovide you with information about water hardness in your ar ea.
13 Switching on the appliance/selecting a pr ogramme Set the progr amme and tempera- ture using the pr ogramme selector . 3 The appliance is switched on by se- lecting a progr amme. – The progr amme progr ess display shows the progr amme steps that the selected progr amme will car- ry out.
14 Selecting additional pr ogrammes If r equired, pr ess additional pro- gramme button(s). The correspond- ing indicator will illuminate. 3 If “ Err ” flashes in the multi-display , the selected additional progr amme cannot be used together with the wash progr amme set.
15 Starting a pr ogramme 1. Check that the tap is turned on. 2. Press the ST ART / PAUSE button. The progr amme is started. 3 If after pressing the START/P AUSE button E40 flashes in the multi-dis- play , the END indicator flashes 4 times and at the same time an acous- tic signal sounds 4 times, the door ha s not been correctly shut.
16 End of the wash cycle / removing the washing At the end of the pr ogramme, EN D lights up on the progr amme progr ess display . The door can be opened as soon as the DOOR indicator is lit green. 1. Open the loading door and remove the washing. 2. Turn the pr ogramme knob to OFF .
17 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise di- rection as far as it will go.
18 Cleaning and car e Important: Do not use furnitur e cleaning products or aggr essive clean- ing agents to clean the appliance. Wipe over the control panel and housing with a damp cloth. Deter gent drawer The detergent dr awer should be cleaned regularly .
19 What to do if... Remedying small faults yourself If during use of the appliance one of the following err or codes is shown in the multi-display: – E10 (Problems with the water inflow), – E20 (Problems with the water outflow), – E40 (door open), please consult the following table.
20 E10 appears. The END indica tor is flashing once, an d si- multaneo usly an acous- tic signal is sounding once. (Problems with the wa- ter inflow .) The tap is shut off. Turn on the tap. The filter in the inle t hose scr ew connection is blocked. Turn off the tap.
21 If the wash result is not satisfactory The washing is grey a nd there are limescale deposits in the drum • Too little detergent was used. • An incorr ect detergent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set properly .
22 There ar e white residues on the washing • What can be seen here ar e insolu ble substances which modern deter- gents contain. They are not the r esult of insufficient rinsing. Shake or brush the wash ing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing.
23 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-free. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
24 Disposal 2 Packaging material The packaging materials are envir onmentally friendly and can be recy- cled. The plastic components are id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.

26 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being transpor ted. Do not under any cir cumstanc- es connect an appliance that is dama ged to the mains.
27 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 War n i n g : The washing machine is very heavy . There is a risk of injury . Exercise car e when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the washing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen from the f ront).
28 3. Remove both plastic caps sideways. 3 Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 units) and C (1 unit) come with the appliance. 4. Use special spanner A to r emove screw D and the compr ession spring. 5. Turn sealing cap C upside down as shown in the illustr ation.
29 • If the location in which the applianc e is to be installed is fitted with small-format tiles, put a rubber ma t (available in the shops) under the appliance. If the appliance is to stand on a base: In order for the appliance to be se- cure on the base, fixing plates*) must be mounted, into which the appliance is inserted.
30 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equired to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNI NG – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liabi lity should these safety measur es not be observed.
31 P ermanent Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appl iance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the current electrical regulations.
32 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pressur e hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer inlet hose is r equired, only hoses from the manufa cturer ar e to be used. Y our local Service Force stocks hose kits of differ ent lengths. 3 Sealing rings are either inserted in th e plastic nuts of the threaded hose fitting or are included as spar e pa rts.
33 Wa t e r D ra i n a g e The appliance dr ain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an ai r break between the dr ain hose and standpipe.
34 Pumping heights of over 1 metr e The washing machine’s dr ain pump is ab le to pump water to a height of 1 metr e, calculated from the surface on which the appliance is instal led. Important! If pumping height is over 1 metr e malfunctions and dam- age to the appliance may arise.
