13 Prior to Initial Start–Up Please clean the appliance interior and all accessories prior to initialstart-up (see section: “Cleaning and Car e”).

15 Startin g up and temper atur e r egulation T o Start the Appliance 1. Allo w the appliance to stand for 2 hr s after installation. 2. Plug in the appliance and switch on at the mains supply . 3. Fr eezing differ ent products should alw a y s be done in the fr eezing compartment after proper pr eparation.
Switchin g Off the Appliance When the appliance is not in use f or long periods , disconnect from the electricity supply , empty all foods and clean the appliance , lea ving the door open to pre vent unpleasant smells .
17 Tha win g Deep froz en or froz en f ood, prior to being used, can be tha w ed in a fridg e or at room temper ature , depending on the time a v ailable . Small food items ma y e v en be cooked fr om froz en, in this case cooking will tak e long er .
18 Defr ostin g The freez er compartment will become progr essiv ely co v er ed with frost. This should be remo v ed with the special plastic scraper pr o vided whene v er the thickness o f frost e xceeds 6 mm (1/4“). During this oper ation it is not necessary to switch o ff the po w er supply or to remo v e the f oodstuff s .
19 Cleanin g and Car e Befor e any maintenance or cleanin g is carried out you must DISCONNEC T the appliance fr om the electricity supply . Internal Cleanin g Clean the inside and accessories with w arm w ater and bicarbonate o f soda (5 ml to 0.5 litre o f w ater).
Ener gy Sa vin g T ips Do not install the appliance near cooker s , radiator s or other sources o f w armth. High ambient temperatur es cause long er , mor e frequent operation o f the compressor . Ensure sufficient air cir culation and e xhaust at the appliance base and at the back w all of the appliance .
21 What to do if ... Corr ecting Malfunctions A malfunction ma y be caused b y only a minor f ault that y ou can r ectify y ourself using the f ollo wing instructions . Do not perf orm an y other w ork on the appliance if the f ollo wing inf ormation does not pro vide assistance in y our specific case .
Noises Durin g Oper ation The f ollo wing noises are char acteristic o f refri ger ation appliances: Clicks Whene v er the compressor switches on or o ff, a click can be hear d. Humming A s soon as the compressor is in oper ation, y ou can hear it hummin g.
23 T echnical T erminology R efrig erant Liquids that can be used to a gener ate a cooling effect ar e kno wn as refri ger ants . The y ha v e a relativ ely lo w boiling-point, indeed so lo w ,that the w armth from the f ood stored in the frid ge or fr eezer can cause the refri ger ant to boil and v aporise .
