Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Universal Repeater mode setting page: 16.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Parameter Description ESSID The ESSID (up to 31 printable ASCII characters) is the unique name identified in a WLAN. The ID prevent s the unintentional mergi ng of two co-located WLANs. Please make sure that the ESSID of all stations in the same WLAN network are the same.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration There are 14 channels avai lable. You should assign Channe l Numb er in “AP mode”, “Station-Ad Hoc mode”, “AP Bridge-Point to Point m ode”, “AP Bridge-Point to Multi-Point mode” and “AP Bridge-WDS mode”, “Universal Repea ter mode ”.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration “Set Security” let you setup the wirele ss security for the data transmission between the bridged access points in “ AP Bridge-Point to Point mode”, “AP Bridge-Point to Multi-Point mode” or “AP Bridge-WDS mode”.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration 128-bit WEP: input 26-digit Hex val ues (in the “A-F”, “a-f” an d “0-9” range) or 10-digit ASCII characters as the encryption keys.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration “Active Wireless Client Table” records the status of all active wirel ess stations that are connecting to the access poi nt. You can lookup the MAC Address, Number of Transmitted Packets, Number of Received Packets and Encryption Status of each active wireless client in this table.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration When this access point is in “Stati on-Ad Hoc mode”, “Station-Infrastructure mode” or “Universal Repeater mode”, it s hould associate with an access point or station and connect to your wireles s LAN through the associated access point or station.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Parameter Description Authentication Type There are two authentication types: “Open System” a nd “Shared Key”. When you select “Open System”, wi re le ss stations can associate with this access point without WEP encry ption.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Beacon Interval The interval of time that this access point broadca st a beacon. Beacon is used to synchronize the wireless network. Data Rate The “Data Rate” is the rate this access point uses to transmit data packets.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration 3.2.4 Security This Access Point provides complete wi reless LAN security functions, include WEP, IEEE 802.11x, IEEE 802.11x with WEP, WPA with pre-shared key and WPA with RADIUS. With these securi ty functions, you can prevent your wireless LAN from illegal access.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration WEP only When you select 64-bit or128-bit WEP ke y, you have to enter WEP keys to encrypt data. You can generate the ke y by yourself and enter it. You can enter four WEP keys and select one of t hem as default key.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Parameter Description Key Length You can select the 64 or 128-bit key to encrypt transmitted data. Larger WEP key length will provide higher level of secu rity, but the throug hput will be lower.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration 802.1x only IEEE 802.1x is an authent ication protocol. Every user must use a valid account to login to this Access Poin t before accessing the wireless LAN. The authentication is processed by a RADIUS server. This mode only authenticates user by IEEE 802.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Click Apply button at the bottom of the screen to save t he above configuration s. You ca n no w configure other advance sections or start u sing the Access Point. 802.1x WEP static key IEEE 802.1x is an authent ication protocol.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration WPA pre-shared key Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is an advanced security standard. You can use a pre-shared key to authenticate wi reless stations and encrypt data during communication. It uses TKIP or CCMP(AES) to change the encryption key frequently.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Parameter Description WPA(TKIP) TKIP can change the encryption key frequently to enh ance the wi reless LAN security. WPA2(AES) This use CCMP protocol to change encryption key frequently. AES can provide high level encryption to enha nce the wireless LAN se curity.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration WPA RADIUS Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is an advanced security standard. You can use an external RADIUS server to authent icate wireless stat ions and provide the session key to encrypt data duri ng communication.
Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration Parameter Description WPA(TKIP) TKIP can change the encryption key frequently to enh ance the wi reless LAN security. WPA2(AES) This use CCMP protocol to change encryption key frequently. AES can provide high level encryption to enha nce the wireless LAN se curity.
