10 2. Hardware Installation 1. Connect the A DSL line. Connect the line p ort of the router o f the device to the modem interface of a splitter using a telephone cable. Con nect a telephone to t he Phone interface of the splitter usi ng a telephone cabl e.
11 3. Connect the power adap ter to the r outer. Plug one end of t he po wer adap ter into a wall outlet an d conn ect the other end to the 12 V interface of the device.
12 Configuration 2 0 shows the correct connection when a telephone set is installed before the splitter. Figure 2 - Connecti on diagram (Connecting a telephone set b efore the split ter) Note : When Configurati on 2 is used, the filter must b e installed close to the telephone cable.
13 5. Firewall settings. Please turn off all personal fi rewalls before you conti nue t he setup – firewal ls can block communi cation between your PC and route r. Note: You must us e the power adapter included in t he package with the router, do NOT att empt to use a third- party power adapter.
14 3. Locate the “Netw ork Connections” i con and double -click to open network connection sett ings. 4. Select the “Local Area Connectio n” icon and right -click it to open the sub-menu, then sel ect “Properties” .

IP Address Setting To use the router t o access the Int ernet, the PCs in the networ k must have an Ethernet adapter inst alled and be conne cted to the rou ter either directly or through a hub or s witch. The TCP/IP protocol of each PC must be installed and the IP Address of e ach PC has to be set in t he same subnet as the router.
18 2. Click the Network icon and then select Op en Network and Sh aring Center to open th e Network and Sh aring Center wind ow. 3. Click Ethernet to open the Et her net Status w indow , and t hen select Properties . The Local Area Con nection window will appear.
19 4. Check your list of Network Components. Select Intern et Protocol Versio n 4 (TCP/IPv4) and clic k the Properties b utton. 5. In the In ternet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4 ) Properti es window, select Obtain an IP a ddress automatically and Obtain DNS server add ress automatically as shown on the following screen.
20 6. Click OK (shown above) t o confirm the setting. Your PC will now obtain an IP address automat ically from your r out er’s DHCP server. Note: Please make sure t hat the router’s DHCP server is the only DHCP server available on your LAN. 3.2. Windows 7 1.
