1 1 Introducing the camera Read this se ction to learn ab out the features and functions of the video camera. This chapt er also covers system requirements, package contents, and descriptions of the hardware compone nts.

2 Getting started Read this section to learn how to start using the video camera. Th is section covers basic f unctions such as switchi ng on, inserting the battery and memory cards, and configuring preliminary settings. See later chapters for advanced functions.

2.2 Inserting the batteries This video camera is designed to use four(4) AAA batteries. Only use the battery supplied or similar battery recommended by the manufacturer or your dealer. Note : Install the batteries exactly as described here. Ensure that the polarity of the batteries is correct.
2.3 Turning on for the first time Slide the power switch to turn the video camera on/off. 2.4 Changing modes The video camera can operate in five modes, Movie , Photo , MP3 , Voice, and SET .
2.5 Before you start Before you star t using the video ca mera, some basic settings such as date and time and languages need to be configured. 2.5.1 Setting the date an d time 1. Turn on the video camera, a nd move the mode dial to SET . Move the scroll wheel up/ down to highlight Date/ Time .
2.5.2 Setting the language 1. Turn on the video camera, a nd move the mode dial to SET . Move the scroll wheel up/ down to highlight Language . Press the scroll wheel inwards to confirm. 2. Use the scroll wheel to select the desired language. After the language is selected, press the scroll wheel inwards to confirm.

2.7 Taking/viewing pictures 2.7.1 Takin g a still picture 1. Turn on the camera and s witch to Photo mode. Photo mode 2. Use the LCD screen to frame the picture. 3. Press the shu tter button to capture the i mage. 4. The picture is automatically saved with a unique file name.
2.7.2 Vi ewing images 1. In Photo mode, press the Playba ck button and the most recent image displays on the LCD screen. Playback mode 2. Press the directional pad left and right to scro ll through the images. 3. Press the scroll wheel inwards to scale the image.
2.8 Playing music files 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to MP3 mode. 2. Mov e th e dire ctio nal p ad left and right to select the music file to playback. 3. Press the shutter button to start play ing . 4. Press the scroll wheel inwards to repea t the sele cted mu sic file.

2.9 Voice recording 2.9.1 To make a voice recor ding 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to Voice mode . 2. Press the shutter button to start recor ding. 3. Press the shutter button again to stop . 4. The voice file will automatically be saved with a unique file name.
2.9.2 T o playback a voice fil e 1. In Voice mode, press the Playback button and the most recent file is displayed on the LCD screen. 2. Mov e th e dire ctio nal p ad left and right to select the voice file you want to play. Press the shutter button to playback the voice file.
2.10 Connecting to a computer Read this section to learn how to transfer files to a PC or use the camera as a PC web-camera for con ferences. Connect the video camera to a computer with the USB cable provided.
2.11 Connecting to a TV Connect the video camera to a TV as shown with the AV cables provided. 2.12 Connecting earphones Connect the earphones to the video came ra as shown.
