10 Getting started 2.1 Installing the wrist strap ● Put one end of the wr ist strap thro ugh the m oun t. ● Put the other end of th e wrist strap thr o ug h the fir st end. ● T ighten. 2.2 Loading the Batteries ● Be sure tha t the camera is in the “o f f” position.
11 ● Closi ng the battery co ver Note: Do not a pply excessive force on the ba ttery cover as it m ay cause damage. ※ When using y our digital camera, if the ba tter y charge is one mark on the battery level icon, y ou will not be able to continue operati ng the fl ash.

13 ● Slide the power cover on the top of the camera s ideway s to start-up, Switc h the power on and off. W hen th e cam era is switched on , the red indicator light will flash, an im age will ap pear on the LCD display . ※ This camera comes with three powe r saving op tions: Off, 1 minute, 3 minutes.
14 2.6 Bef or e you start Before y ou use your cam era, there are som e basic settings to configure. These settings will b e illustrat ed in chap ters that follow . 2.6.1 Setting the date a nd time 1. Please switch o n the cam era as shown in 2.4 “ T urning on for t he first tim e”.

20 3.3.1 Changing the LCD display You m ay decide n ot to dis play icons on th e LC D screen by followin g the in str ucti o ns below. 1. Ensure that y ou are either in Photo mode or Video mode. If you are in neither, please s e lect either mode from the mode s Main menu .

26 3.6.3 Using thumbnails m ode In Playback m ode, per factory settings, ca mera di sp lays im ages to f it LCD. Bu t it is also possib le to display nine thu m bna ils on the LCD. To view thum bnails: 1. Switch on the cam era and en sure th at it is in the Play bac k m ode.

32 Using the setup menus Read thi s sectio n t o learn how to confi gure the camera and use the adva nced feature s. 4.1 Cam era me nu The Camera m enu appear s when the camera is in P hot o mode and th e Mode selector button is pressed. The Camera menu is only availabl e in Photo mode.
33 To set picture qual ity: 1. Turn the cam era on and ensure that it is in Photo m ode. 2. Press the Mode selector button. 3. Use the Down shif t select or button to navig ate until the Quality option is high lighted. 4. Use the Up shift select or button to select: F i n e , N o r m a l .

35 4.1.6 Date Display Use the ti m e fun ction to co ntrol turning the date/ time stamping on or off when taking a picture. T o set date di splay : 1. Turn the cam era on and ensure that it is in Photo m ode. 2. Press the Mode selector button. 3. Use the Down shif t select or button to navig ate until the Time d ispla y option is highlighted .
36 4.2.2 V ideo quality Use vid e o quality optio n to set th e quali ty of the vide o capt ure d. T his c am era has two quality optio ns: Fine an d N ormal. V ideos t aken wi th the Fine o p tion wil l re quire significan tly m ore memory space than those take n with th e Norm al option.
37 4.2.4 EV Use the ex posure compensation (EV) setting to ch ange the exposu re for your videos. Usuall y this value would be set to zero , but y ou might want to increase the expos ure to brigh ten a scene with stro ng back light ing, or decrease th e exposure if sh ooting a video in a very bri ght environment.
38 4.3.1 Delete one Use the Delete one function to delete file s. To dele te file : 1. Turn the cam era on and ensure that it is in Playback mode. 2. Press the Set/ Funct ion but ton. 3. Use the Up shift select or button to navig ate until the Delete option is highligh ted.

45 Installin g softwar e and drivers 5.1 Drivers When the cam era is connecte d to the PC, the cam era can be used as either a Mass Storage or a c ompute r-based v ideo cam era. Mass stora ge The digit al cam era o ffers Mass Stora ge f unction as a c ard reader de vice.
