3 Intr oduction Y our new digital pr ojector is easy t o connect, ea sy to use, easy to mai ntain and has XGA 1024 x768 resolut ion. The pr oj ector c omes in a carry case t hat offe rs ample room for accessory items such a s the proj ect or r emote, color-coded cables, an d documentation.

5 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect the black end of the computer cable to the Com puter 1 con nector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to dis c onnect the monito r cable fr om t he computer ’ s video port.
6 If you pr efer connecting your computer to th e projector with an opt ional VESA cable, conn ec t one end of the cable to the VESA port on your com- puter , and conn ect the othe r end of th e cable t o the blue Computer 2 con - nector on the pr ojector .
7 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r button on the top of th e projector or the remote. The LED fla shes green a nd the fans start t o run. When the lamp comes on, the sta r tup scr een is displayed and the LED is steady green.
8 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t h e pr ojector as “ new h a rdw a re ” and the A dd Ne w H a rdw a re Wiz ard ap p ea rs .
9 Skip thi s pag e if yo u did not conne ct a USB mouse cab le F or Windo ws 98: • If you connected t he USB cable, the Add New Har dwar e W izard appears a gain. Drivers must be installed t o use the USB fu nctionality . • The Wizar d launches thre e times .
10 Adjusting the imag e Adjust t he heigh t of the proj ec tor , if nece ssary , by pressing the release b ut- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate the leveling foot, if n ecessary . Position the projector the desir ed distance from t he screen at a 90 degree angle to the scre en.

13 Adjust the zoom or focus rin g s by ro t ating them until the desir ed image size and sharpness ar e produced. If the image is not square, a djust the keystone us ing the buttons on the key- pad. Pr ess the upper Ke y s t o n e butt on to reduce the uppe r part of the image, and pr ess the lower Ke y s t o n e bu tton to reduce the low er part.
14 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The p rojector au tomat ically displa ys a bla ck sc reen after no active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. This black screen helps pr eserve the life o f the pro- jector . The image r eturn s when an active sour ce is detected or a remo te or keypad butt on is pressed.

22 Regarding this projector When sending the proj ec tor in for repair , we recommend shippin g the unit in the c arry c ase in its orig inal packing mater ial, or having a profession al packaging compa ny pack the unit with all accessories for shippi ng.
23 Using the remote contr o l The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batteries . They are easily installed by slidi ng the cover of f the rem ote ’ s back, aligning th e + and - ends of t he batteries , sliding them into place, and th en replacin g the cover .
24 Using the audio T o play sound from the project or , connec t your source to the Audi o In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, us e the buttons on the keypa d or remote.
25 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’ s im age is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mag e using t he onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rma tion on using the menus, see pa ge 27. • Adjust the Key ston e, Cont ras t, or Br ight ness in the Pi cture me nu.
26 Optimizing video imag es After the video device is connected pr operly and the image is on t h e scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on u sing t h e menus, s ee page 27. • Adjust the Keystone , Contrast, Brig htness, Color , or T int in the Picture menu.
27 Using the menus T o open the menus, p ress th e menu butt on on th e keypad or remo te. (The menus a u tomatica lly close after 60 seconds if no butt ons are pr essed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t h e desir ed submenu, t hen press th e Sel ect butt on.

29 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the projector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, film images, and video images. (Film input is material origin ally captur ed on a film cam era, like a mov ie; video input is material origin ally captur ed on a video ca mera, like a T V sho w or sporting event.
30 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) changes the clarity of the edges of a video image. Select a sharpne ss setting. Color S p ace : Thi s option applies to com puter and componen t video sour ces (it won ’ t appear in the menu f or S-video or composite vi deo sour ces).

33 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet conn ector that supports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is w ill allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corpora te network. Th e following fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked a n d availa b le for man u al entry of data.
34 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abrasiv e camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry cloth . A void using an excessive amount of cleaner , and don ’ t appl y the cleaner directly to the lens. Abra sive cleaners, solvents or othe r harsh chemic als m ight sc ratch th e len s.
35 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has b een in use. After 1,980 hours, the mes sage “ Change lamp ” briefly appe ars on the screen a t each st artup . When the time r re aches 2, 000 hours , the lamp will n o longer ligh t.
