Chapter 1 Befo re initial op eration of the receiver 1.1 Safet y instructions Please read the safety instructions completely and carefully , b efore using the Dreambox. The Man ufacturer tak es no resp onsibilit y for damages as a result of incorrect handling of the Dreambox.
A dditional safety instructions • (Dis-)Connecting to a LNB: T urn the Dream b o x off b efore y ou connect or disconnect a cable coming from or going to a LNB. • Connection to the cable wall b ox or terrestrial antenna: Before connecting or disconnecting y our an tenna cable to the Dream b o x please turn it off.
Disp osal instructions The pac kaging of the Dream b o x only consists of reusable materials. Please recycle if p ossible. This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this pro duct must not b e disp osed of with y our other household waste.

Net w o rk interface The Comm unication Port is an Ethernet p ort. It is used to communicate with your Dream b o x via HTTP , FTP , NFS, T elnet, SSH and Samba to access your recorded mo vies, to upload c hannel lists, etc. This p ort is also used to up date the op erating system of your Dream b o x.

Battery cha rge indicator indicates the status of the battery v oltage. Standb y-Button The Standb y-Button switc hes your Dream b o x on and off. (see Chapter 3.1 T urning your Dr e amb ox on and off on page 17 ) DREAM-Mo de-Button The DREAM-Mo de-Button switc hes your remote control into Dreambox con- trol mo de.
Mute-Button Pressing the MUTE-Button m utes the V olume. A crossed sp eak er symbol will app ear on the TV screen. Pressing it again or pressing one of the V olume +/- Buttons brings back the audio. The Mute-Button deletes a character during text input.
Chapter 2 Sta rt-up 2.1 Connecting Before using the Dreambox, please read the safety instructions under Chapter 1.1 Safety instructions on page 1 . In the following is describ ed how to connect the dreambox to a Satellite-dish, a cable connection, a terrestrial connection, an a/v receiv er, a tv-device and a net w ork.
2.1.4 A/V Receiver Connection via optical fib er cable If y our a/v receiv er (amplifier) has a suitable optcial S/PDIF Input, connect the connection jac k S/PDIF OPTICAL at the Dream b o x with an optical fib er cable (toslink) with the optcial S/PDIF Input of your amplifier.
Connection via HDMI cable Use an hdmi-cable to connect the hdmi-out of your dreambox to an hdmi-input of the a/v receiv er. After that tak e a second hdmi-cable for connecting the hdmi-out of y our a/v receiver to the hdmi-input of the tv-device.
2.1.5 T elevision HDMI Connect the dream b o x with the hdmi or scart-cable mit dem TV-input of your television. A t least use the hdmi-in terface for getting the b est picture qualit y (through digital transmission). Y ou can use the supplied HDMI cable for connecting the dreambox with the hdmi-input of y our television.

2.2 T urning the device on 1. Place the batteries inside the battery compartment of the remote con trol k eeping in mind the right p olarit y . 2. Ensure that y ou ha v e the voltage selector switch (230V/110V)at the correct p osition, otherwise it can cause sev ere damage! 3.

Chapter 3 Basic op eration 3.1 T urning y our Dreamb o x on and off Y our Dreambox has a standby mo de and a so-called deep-standby mo de. Both functions differ in their p o wer consumption and the time which is needed un til the b o x has b o oted.
This is the Standby / R estart -Men u. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the desired option and press the OK-Button . 3.2 Service selection Pressing the Navigation-Buttons ( JI ) on y our Dreambox remote con trol will take you to the previous or next service.
3.4 Controlling the volume The V olume +/- Buttons control the v olume of the audio. Pressing + will make turn it up and pressing - will turn it do wn. Pressing the MUTE-Button m utes the v olume. A crossed sp eak er symbol will app ear on the screen.
3.8 Subtitles F ollo w this steps: 1. In TV- or Radio Mo de press the AUDIO-Button . 2. By pressing the y ello w Options-Button a list with the av ailable subtitles will show up. 3. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) select a desired subtitle and press the OK-Button to activ ate.
3.9 Infoba r The Infobar appears when switching a channel and sho ws all necessary Information about the selected service. By pressing the OK-Button y ou can op en the Infobar if needed! INFO MENU Act.
3.10 Electronic Program Guide - EPG The Electronic Program Guide (EPG) sho ws information regarding the curren t tv service (similar to a TV guide). By pressing the INF O-Button in TV-Mo de y ou are sup- plied with detailed information ab out the current show and b y pressing the Navigation button ( I ) afterw ards ab out the next sho w.
Single-EPG In this view you are supplied with detailed information ab out the curren tly selected c hannel’s programming. F ollo w this steps: 1. Press the INF O-Button . 2. Press the y ello w Options-Button for getting the “Single-EPG” view. Y ou can also access this view b y pressing: 1.
Multi-EPG F ollo w this steps: 1. Press the Info-Button . 2. Press the blue Options-Button for switc hing to “Multi-EPG” view. Use the blue and yello w Options-Buttons to switch b et w een the now, next and mor e views.
Time/Date Input Press the Men u-Button in the Multi-EPG view. A windo w will app ear where you can en ter a time and date. After you hav e en tered the desired time and date press the OK-Button to activ ate you selection. Graphical Multi-EPG Y ou ha v e another option to view the EPG of different services and successiv e shows.

the searc h is finished y ou can use the Na vigation-Buttons ( JI ) to select the T eletext of another service without ha ving to switc h services. Press the OK-Button to select the desired T eletext. This option is only av ailable if more than one service on the current satellite transp onder actually transmits T eletext information.
3.12 Picture-in-Picture mo de (PiP) The Dream b o x has a so called PiP-F unction. With PiP y ou can displa y a small TV picture on top of the main big TV picture.
3.13 Sleep timer Using the sleep timer y ou can put y our Dream b o x into standby or turn it off after a predeterminedamoun t of time. F ollo w this steps: 1. Press the Men u-Button to op en the main OSD menu. 2. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the option “Standby / R estart” and press the OK- Button .
Chapter 4 Edit the channellist What is a b ouquet? A bouquet can b e thought of something like a folder. Ev ery c hannel equals a page in this folder and the pages are sorted in to categories. This wa y you can create a bouquet called “K ids” , for example, under which you “file” all c hildren’s stations.
4.2 A dd a service to favorites If you wan t to add a service to your F a v orites-view you can c ho ose from services in the All-, Satellites- and Pro vider-views . Y ou can switc h views by pressing the red, green, yello w and blue Options- Buttons .
4.4 Remove a service from favo rites 1. Press the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) to op en the channellist. 2. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the channel you w ant to delete. 3. By pressing the MENU-Button the “Channel list menu” will op en up.
6. Press the OK-Button , to add the mark er to y our fa v orites list. If y ou hav e added tw o markers use the Arro w-Left and Arrow-Righ t-Buttons to jump b et ween those t w o mark ers.
Ho w to link services will b e explained in the following steps. 1. Press the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) to op en the channellist. 2. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the service for which you w an t to add an Alternativ e. 3. By pressing the MENU-Button the “Channel list menu” will op en up.
In this example w e decided to lo c k the service called “ProSieb en” . Accordingly we selected the “P” as the first letter. The Par ental c ontr ol servic es Editor will op en up. All services b eginning with the letter “P” are sho wn. 5.
Chapter 5 Ha rd disk op eration Hin t: When using an external eSA T A HDD it must ha v e an o wn p o wer supply!!! 5.1 Installation-Guide This capter describ es how to install a 3,5“ SA T A Hard disk in y our Dream b o x DM7020 HD. Please alw a ys adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Disc harge) regulations when handling electronic devices.
Op ening the device 1. Unscrew the screw(s) on the left and righ t side of y our Dream b o x. Remo v e screw(s) on the left and righ t side 2. Remo v e the screw(s) on the rear panel, mark ed on the picture.
Installation of a 3,5” SA T A Ha rd disk 1. Place the hard disk into the hard disk cage, ensure that the connection port is p ointing tow ards the bac k of the dream b o x. Place the hard disk carefully into the plug of the hard disk cage. Placing hdd to hard disk cage (Fig.

Programming via EPG Change into on of the EPG views in chapter (as describ ed in Chapter 3.10 Ele ctr onic Pr o gr am Guide - EPG on page 22 ). By pressing the green Options-Button y ou ha v e the option to automatically add the selected sho w with it’s start and end time as a timer.
The status of a timer is sho wn on the righ t side: w aiting means: still coming up reco rding means: recording right now done means: recording finished the red X indicates that a timer w as deactiv ated If y ou pressed the blue Options-Button you will b e asked if you really wan t to delete the finished timer.
List of recordings F ast F orw ard-Button = F ast F orw ard Keep in mind that you hav e to b e in the PVR-Mo de to use these options. Y ou can chec k this by pressing the OK-Button . The Infobar will rev eal and should show the depicted control symbols.
5.5 Setting a ma rker (Bo okma rks) F ast forw ard to the p oin t where you w ant to add a mark er and press the 0 on the Numeric-Keypad . This will set a mark er at the desired p oin t. Infobar Mo viepla y er with Mark ers The red dashes in the timeline correlate to a mark er.

Chapter 6 Setup 6.1 Language 1. If no OSD men u is visible on y our screen, press the Men u-Button to op en the main OSD men u. 2. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the option “Setup” and press the OK-Button . 3. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the option “System” and press the OK-Button .
Infoba r timeout: Set the desired time after which you wan t the Infobar to disappear. Y ou can c ho ose b et ween one and ten seconds or “no timeout” .
Video output This option selects to whic h output the video signal will b e sent to. HDMI If y ou hav e connected your TV to the HDMI output of your Dream b o x set the “Output type” option to “HDMI” . Sca rt If y ou hav e connected y our TV to the Scart output of y our Dreambox set the “Output type” option to “Scart” .
Mo de Sca rt Select the standard supp orted by your TV screen. This is usually either P AL or NTSC. If you own a TV screen which supp orts b oth mo des you can also select the Multi option. Y our TV screen will automatically switch dep ending on the input signal.

Net w ork test The net w ork test will assist y ou in finding possible sources of error in your netw ork configuration. Press the green Options-Button to start the test or to rep eat it. Press the y ello w Options-Button to ab ort the test. Once the test has finished y ou can get additional information and help to ev ery subitem of the test.

Reset This options resets y our CI-Module. This function is needed if you are exp eriencing trouble with one of y our encrypted services. Init This option initializes an inserted Smartcard. It is recommended to inset the CI-Mo dule with the Smartcard already in it.

Chapter 7 Service sea rching In this c hapter y ou will learn ho w to setup the tunerconfiguration for the reception with a satellite-dish (D VB-S/S2), via cable television (DVB-C) or via digital terrestrial television (D VB-T) in your dreambox and ho w to p erform a service scan.

4. With the Navigation-Buttons ( NH ) choose the option “A utomatic sc an” and press the OK-Button . 5. Set all tuners with whic h y ou wan t to searc h to “yes” . Use the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) choose the tuner and the Na vigation-Buttons ( JI ) to switc h to “yes” .
Y ou can see the progress of the scan here. The scan is done once y ou see this menu. It shows ho w many c hannels w ere found during the scan. Press the OK-Button to store the found channels or the EXIT-Button to cancel.

Chapter 9 Up dating the soft w a re 9.1 Backing up y our settings Before installing newer soft w are on your Dream b o x y ou should backup y our settings, otherwise they will b e lost. 1. Press the Men u-Button to op en the main OSD menu. 2. With the Na vigation-Buttons ( NH ) c ho ose the option “Setup” and press the OK-Button .
9.3 Up dating a new soft w a re 9.3.1 using the DreamUP p rogram Ho w do I install new soft w are on m y Dream b o x DM7020 HD ? Requiremen ts: • PC with Windows op erating system • DreamUP softw are (current v ersion under http://www.dreambox.de ) • 1 mini-usb-to-usb cable • 1 netw ork cable (optional but recommended) 1.
6. Start the DreamUp soft w are on y our PC. 7. Select the com-port which the “mini-USB-to-USB-cable” is connected to, as describ ed ab o v e. In our example “COM4” .
12. After the flash loader has b een transferred to y our Dream b o x select the “Flash Box” Button in the DreamUp soft w are. 13. Select the softw are image and clic k on the “Op en” button. 14. The new soft w are is now being transferred to your Dream b o x.

Chapter 11 TV-Mo de setup With the Dream b o x remote control you ha v e the p ossibilit y to control the dreambox and y our tv device with only one remote control. In order that your tv device reacts to the signals of the remote con trol, you ha v e to program it b efore.
