10 Choosing Restraint and Position Y our child’ s height, weight and age determine how y our child restraint should be placed in the v ehicle and which r estraint should be used. See chart on next page . Rear -Facing using 5-point harness Child and child restraint face the back of the v ehicle and are placed in the back seat.
Preparing Child Restraint to Fit Y our Child 2 3 Press on harness r etainer r elease button and pull a part. Loosen harness by pushing down on the harness r elease lever while pulling out on harness. Y ou MUST mak e these adjustments with your child before y ou install the child restraint in the v ehicle .
Infant Insert (optional): When using insert (A) , mak e sure insert does not cover y our infant’ s face in any wa y . Remove the insert for ol der babies and toddlers. T o remov e the insert, unthread the harness from harness brack et (see belt- positioning booster section), remov e inser t, and re thread harness.
16 W ARNING: F ailure to fasten and tighten the harness system corr ectly and snugly can r esult in serious injur y or death. 5 Po sition the harness r etainer at mid-chest (even with arm pits), awa y from the child’ s neck. 6 Snap the harness r etainer together .
19 Removing Y our Child From the Child Restraint Press on r elease button and pull apart. 1 3 Push down on harness r elease button while pulling up on harness straps abov e the latch plates to loosen. Remove child. W ARNING: F ailure to fasten and tighten the harness system corr ectly and snugly can r esult in serious injur y or death.
20 P U L L T O R E C L IN E This child restraint has 3 r ecline positions when used with the base: Upright and Semi-reclined (forward facing onl y) and Reclined.
Not all vehicle belts will w ork with this child restraint. Y ou must determine if y our vehicles belts are compatible with this child restraint. If you will use the LA TCH system, refer to the LA TCH section. ELR - Emergency Locking Retractor Belts Definition: These belts only lock in a sudden stop or crash.
24 1 2 3 4 Thread both v ehicle lap and shoulder belts through the slot (as shown) and out other side. Buckle. Pull up on shoulder belt until all slack is out and lap belt is tight. Grasp both vehicle belts together just behind the latch plate and unbuckle.
26 Y ou may need to r emove the base for narr ow vehicle seats or airline use. See “Removing Base” in Belt- Po sitioning Booster section. To use the child restraint r ear -facing without base, mak e sure recline stand is f olded under seat. A loose top anchorag e (tether) strap can r esult in serious injur y or death.
28 With weak est hand at belt path, tilt and push the child re straint forward and back, and from side to side. If the seat belts do not loosen, your child r estraint should be secure. NO TE: Some “play” from front to back or about an inch from side to side is acceptable.
30 4 Push LA TCH hook through the r ear -facing belt path slot. Push LA TCH hook through the other r ear - facing belt path slot. 6 Put seat pad back over corners of shell. Completed threading of the LA TCH system. 7 31 Rear Facing Use: 5-35 lbs. (2.3-16 kg), 19-36” (48-91 cm).
With weak est hand at belt path, tilt and push the child restraint f orward and back, and from side to side. If the LA TCH belts do not loosen, your child r estraint should be secure. NO TE: Some “play” from front to back or about an inch from side to side is acceptable.
34 After deciding whether to use your V ehicle Belts or LA TCH, be sure to r ead the warnings below as they pertain to both systems. Forward-Facing Installation Y ou may need to r emove the base for narr ow vehicle seats or airline use. See “Removing Base” in Belt- Po sitioning Booster section.
36 With weak est hand at the belt path, tilt and push the child restraint fr om side to side. If the LA TCH belts do not loosen, your child restraint should be secure. NO TE: Some “play” from front to back or about an inch from side to side is acceptable.
38 4 Place one knee in the child r estraint and push down firmly while pulling up on the loop to tighten belt. Connect top anchorage strap to the anchor brack et. To Adjust: see section on “Adjusting T op Anchorage Strap”. 5 With weak est hand at belt path, tilt and push the child restraint f orward and back and side to side.
40 41 Belt-Positioning Booster Use: 30-100 lbs. (14-46 kg), 29-52” (73-132 cm), Over 1 year of age. Refer to the W eight and Height Chart to make sure y our child is at the proper w eight and height to use the belt- positioning booster . Lap/Shoulder Belt W ARNING ! Loose LA TCH hooks can r esult in injur y or death.
42 Move seat to full y r eclined position. Push down on tab on right side of base (A) . From the other side, push on bar (B) and pull the bar completely out. Base must be r emov ed for use as Belt-P ositioning Booster . Removal of Seat Base 1 A B A 2 43 Belt-Positioning Booster Use: 30-100 lbs.
44 5 Insert metal clip up through the shell and pad. 4 From bottom of seat, locate buckle’ s metal clip. 45 Belt-Positioning Booster Use: 30-100 lbs. (14-46 kg), 29-52” (73-132 cm), Over 1 year of age. Rotate recline stand down, then push up firmly until it locks in place.
46 W ARNING ! F or vehicles with an air bag, but without a back seat, refer to y our vehicle o wner’ s manual. Do Not Use only the lap belt when using this seat as a belt-positioning booster without the internal harness. The shoulder belt must alwa ys be adjusted snugly across the child’ s chest.
48 5 4 Fit loops on harness ends onto the harness brack et. Pull harness through the back. Make sur e the harness goes O VER the headrest adjustment bar . W ARNING ! Reinstall Base: Remove bar fr om base. Line up shell with base. Begin with the rounded end, push bar completely through hole, starting on the right side (A) , until it locks in place.
50 From the back, use a scre wdriver to press in on lip of upper harness guides and pop guides through the front. Pull cover off headrest. Clean with warm sudsy water , rinse clean and air dr y . Do not use bleach or use other harsh cleaners. Pull pad off the top of seat and off of headrest.

(DJG) warrants this pr oduct to the original retail pur chaser as follows: This product is war ranted against defective materials or w orkmanship for seven y ears from the date of original purchase. An original receipt is r equired to validate y our warranty .
